Geelong rorting the system

So everyone is welcome to cheat under the guise of input errors in face of an upfront $50k payment disguised as a penalty.

Whats stopping the other clubs - a precedent has been set.
I know what will stop other clubs. They won't have the person who oversaw the cheating investigate the cheating.

Amazing that this can happen but here we are

Roughly what amount? I can’t find a source even saying what we spent? In fact I can’t find a source saying we spent anything illegal.

The fines are not for breaching the cap.

“The Extended Audit found, on the basis of the information obtained and reviewed by the AFL, that the Club did not breach the AFL TPP Limit nor the AFL player movement rules in any season within the timeframe assessed.“

Did Melbourne tank? Or were all those punishments for not tanking?

The AFL said they didnt tank. So I guess they didnt tank, yeah ?

Okay, will take this as you believing Melbourne didnt tank. Interesting view which certainly puts you in the tiny minority.

Pretty sure even Melbourne people know that they tanked.

I like that you've been presented with the facts obtained from a third party source (EY) and you still don't believe it could be true. A great example of practiced denialism

You think consulting firms are 3rd parties? How cute. You should check out this for a little education:

so you think the rort is that Geelong also controls the multinational Big 4 accounting firm Ernst & Young? :$

I think the AFL only investigates where the AFL wants to investigate, and the AFL only finds what it wants to find.

Like finding Essendon players didnt breach any drug rules, Melbourne didnt tank, Travis Cloke's 5 year Footy Show contract was independent of his 5 year Collingwood contract and wasnt organised by Eddy to get around the AFL salary cap, and Chris Scott has a genuine role at Morris Finance and beat out a number of highly qualified candidates due to his extensive financial industry education, training and experience.

BTW: Arthur Andersen were a Big 5 accounting firm at one point. Know why they are no longer a Big 5 accounting firm?

A slightly serious point, by the way:

Despite what outsiders believe, I'll happily cop that we as a club suck up to the league massively. Sure, we'll make the occasional noise about home finals and Scott grumbles in press conferences.

But every time there's a hint of controversy, we pretty much never dispute it, apologise and hope like hell it all goes away.

In the real world, I suspect that attitude does pay off when the AFL comes to making marginal calls.

So, no, there is no giant conspiracy which explains why a team outside the Big 4 can have sustained success. But I'll happily concede we play the teacher's pet.

lulz.

That AFLW chick was the patsy, the decoy. The real rort will happen when we land Marshall, Curnow and Butters.

#Marshall2Butters2Curnow.
No doubt she'll be adequately compensated for taking the fall. Our entire AFLW program is essentially a dummy corporation. :eyes:

Um, no.

Unless you have information the media haven't reported.

The media have reported on all the relevant bits

“But it did find "a series of non-disclosures and/or late disclosures of arrangements with club associates and third parties, that were required to be reported to the AFL".”

That’s literally what Geelong supporters in here have conveniently left out of your posts. Unfortunately for you, that’s going to be quoted by opposition supporters for the rest of time.

I don't buy the bullshit from GFC.

Club has prior form here. There are clearly significant third party payments made to players to entice them to play for the club and they are ongoing and not reported. The financial sanctions are useless. The first one should have been 10x ($400k) and this subsequent one should come with draft sanctions as well.

If the AFL is in any way serious about TPP and transparency then all contracts should be public and all third party payments to all players should be included in TPP during the playing career.

Oh dear. That's literally what we ARE quoting.

You're the one claiming they are third party player payments

Collingwood's netball team was the true dummy corp. Used the excuse of the netball team to spend a heap of money to make improvements which helped the AFL team but didnt have to be included in the soft cap. Then when the upgrades were done, they ditched the netball team.

Like in the NRL when Manly merged with North Sydney. As a part of the merger, Manly had all their crippling debts cleared by the NRL. Then after 2 years Manly split from North Sydney and went back to being a standalone team with zero debt.

This definitely wasnt managed by all the Manly people who were running the NRL at the time.

Its hilarious that people think anything anywhere is above board.
