Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
Your victimhood stems from the fact that your club tries to balance playing in a 21st century national competition whilst trying to maintain an pro-am level ground as its home.Cos we are perpetually victims. Thats why. You speak about that label as a bad thing. But its not if its actually true.

Thinking like that Richmond would play their home games at Punt Road. Why? Its not about crowds.
Why is 50k a limit? Thats still 50k less then the mcg.
finals grounds are not about maximising crowds. If so most interstate finals would also be at the mcg.
its about fairness. But no one complains about fairness when it only negatively impacts one team. They just call that team sooks.
im guessing everyone will suddenly realise that geelong has been treated unfairly and it must end when gold coast earns a home final against brisbane. That will be the day this bias against geelong in finals ends. Bookmark it.
MCG final. I actually work with one of your 3 time premiership champs from your golden era. He is in 100% agreement that all Geelong’s big finals should be at the G, where they all were when he won his 3 flags for you. That group gets it. 95,000 v 35,000 it is the peoples game. The MCG is where it is at. Go there and win there and stop complaining because really you have it better than most clubs in this comp in so many other areas. So what's the point finishing 1st then? May as well finish 4th.
Since when have the AFL cared about fairness? They only care about money and getting the biggest crowds possible.
Gold Coast would get a home final because the league is trying to grow the game there.
Do you think it’s unfair that Marvel tenants don’t get finals on their ground either or unfairness only happens to Geelong?
They don’t have to stay in the AFL if there’s anything they don’t like.
We play games at the MCG because the AFL needs us to fill their contracts. We dont ask to play home games at the G. A home game at KP makes us more money than a 70k crowd at the G!We're always on of the two 'big ticket' home games for the Cats that they have agreed to with the AFL to fill their coffers. It ain't our fault that this is the case! By all means push back on the AFL to get 11 home games at Kardinia and give us a look at it, but quit whinging about once finals hit until then.
Yes it does. Can take 2 hours from geelong to Melbourne and especially for those living a bit further out in geelong. Geelong is a massive rural region mate we don’t all sit there living on the edge next to the highway. Then throw in peak hour traffic on a Friday night and it’s a disaster.
Big middle finger to the geelong fans
Geelong should have 11 home games and all home finals at Geelong.
They estimated the prelim crowd would fit into the Giants' stadium (22k) and got it pretty much bang on. All members that wanted to go got a ticket. From memory there were general public sales too. They may have got a few extra theatre goers at the SCG but wouldn't have made the AFL any more money due to most of them being SCG Members. Giants had only played 1 game at the SCG too so that would hardly have been fair.except it already has happened. Gws vs bulldogs prelim final would of got over 30 thousand. But instead they played it at the smaller stadium with less ticket sales even though a bigger stadium was available just 30 minutes away.
Should bring in the boundaries a touch more for finals so we can seat a couple of thousand extra punters on the grass and eliminate the wings all together.I don’t think that’s enough tbh. Every game needs to be at GMHBA.

They did get it spot on, 90% Doggies fans and the balance freebie tickets for GWS. Damning they couldn't even sell out a prelim in a 24k stadium. If demand for the Cats Pies prelim was about 22k then they may have played it in Geelong.
Comments like these are why interstate sides dislike Victorian clubs so much, this narrative that the footy world should revolve around the CBD of Melbourne and everyone else should confirm into line.
No the people of geelong shouldn’t drive 75-100+km through peak hour traffic over 2hrs on a Friday evening to get to a home game at the MCG, then drive home their kids by 1am that morning.
What a phenomenal advantage to the geelong football club and it’s loyal supporter base for finishing two games clear ontop of the ladder.
AFL only cares about $$$ not about equality and fans.
It just warps my mind the acceptance your club has over this issue we are talking about significant income and sponsorship opportunities and exposure that comes with winning the flag.
Clubs look for every bit of 1% extra come finals time yet you are giving up a significant advantage which you earned the right to.
2017 and 2019 would of seen you in GF i put my house on it.
you get demonising geelongs stadium is what big melbourne teams supporters use to justify their unjust advantage against geelong in finals.
Well to quote Django "8 with an obvious home ground advantage" (it's actually 9) but yes you're spot on, we have our own home ground and in a 22 game season (plus finals) we get our home ground advantage 9 times.
I really feel for Richmond though, must be rough playing 17 games in Victoria and having to travel all the way to Marvel for 3 of those. Imagine how rough it would be having to play your home final at Marvel and needing to travel 2km down the road, that would be pretty taxing.
How about a compromise.
The game gets played at the MCG so the AFL can cash in on a 90,000 crowd, but Geelong get to place witches hats to reduce the width of the ground by 30m on each side so their zone still works and their old legs can cope.
For some reason...LOL
This thread is exactly why Geelong will lose. They are still scarred from the Richmond game many years ago.
The main reason I wanted Collingwood to lose today was because they would have one foot in the prelim.
All week I've been thinking of how Dangerfield pissed his pants when he walked on the field vs Richmond "oohhh ahhhh it was our home game!! but it was like an away game it's not fair!!, where's my mummy!!".
Good - get on with it and play.We have won 10 of our last 12 games at the MCG.
Seemed to cope ok in those.
To be fair the ground is only 7m narrower than Adelaide Oval and 14m on Optus stadium hardly makes a big difference, do we say that the ground is too long.I just hate how narrow it is. I agree in principle that the home side should be able to play at home, and that to be made to play your home game at the oppositions home ground is bullshit. But the ground is just awful for watching footy, and it should be made wider to be more like other grounds
