I have saved space above in case Collingwood manage to beat Geelong.

Space on this thread will be at a premium.
I will auction this post space to the highest Cats bidder.
Classic. Pies supporters doesnt know how the internet works.

More confident in what? Trolling a minority of complaining supporters hardly makes a difference. Most Cats fans are delighted it's on a Saturday.

2017 Geelong had a poor side (same points total as Freo this year) and 2019 QF they underperformed. Pies were excellent that night, too.

Great Geelong teams beat anyone at the G. There just hasn't been a great Geelong side since 2011. Simple as that.
Geelong has to be great to win a flag given the disadvantages it faces in finals. Other sides do not. They just have to be good. See recent west coast, bulldogs and swans premiership sides. And 2017 richmond flag side.

thats the answer to the question of how to deal with ones own mental health in response to external events that are out of your control. It is not the answer to the question of where should this weeks game be played.
I think the answer you actually need is how to deal with a child at Coles who screams and actually changes colour because he doesn’t get to have a Bertie beetle. Oh, and the answer to your question, again, is the MCG.

Geelong didn't earn the right to play anywhere. The AFL selects a ground in the state of the higher finishing team.
So does that mean the AFL will force the Swans to play their home final at Homebush? Bigger ground, only an hour from the SCG, played finals there in the past, home state not home ground etc etc… or do the Swans get a choice on where they elect to host their home final- which they have earned.

The Swans don't earn anything. The AFL selects a ground in the state of the higher finishing team, same as they do for Geelong and every other team.

AFL no longer have a contract with Homebush due to it being substandard and unpopular.

The Swans have asked for their finals to be at the SCG which is fair enough. The essence of this argument, which seems surprisingly difficult to convey to fans of clubs that play most their games at the MCG, is that all clubs (that earn the right) should be given a choice.

The essence is that clubs dont earn the right to chose thr grounds.

Finals are league based games, all the gate reciepts go to the league. The league determines what ground in each state is best.

States that have multiple AFL standard grounds, finals are played at the discretion of the AFL.

Why is that so hard for people to understand?

Gws played a prelim at their 20 thousand seat stadium rather then the 45 thousand seat scg. So your simply wrong.

and yes teams do earn home finals. As why would any game be interstate in the first place if there were no home finals. Plus we can all read ladder positions. 1st vs 4th means the 1st team has earned a home final.

And the league needs to determine that the game is plated at each higher ranked teams ground of choice for fairness. stop trying to justify unjust decisions by tradition. For one, the tradition is never consistently applied and 2. Tradition is not an effing viable argument.

Homebush is 25 mins away on the train. not an hour. And boy did sydney complain when they had to play their home final there against gws. It was 25 mins away. And whats even funnier, all the melbourne teams supporters back then agreed with them.

Then why would the league let the giants play a home final at giants stadium? Makes a mockery of your gate receipts argument.

There's a lot that has been said in this thread going by the number of pages. I'm not going to waste my time reading it all but I assume Geelong supporters are arguing the match should be played at Kardinia Park, and Collingwood supporters are arguing that the MCG is the Victorian finals venue and all major finals should be played there.

Geelong fans, KP is a construction site at the moment. Seriously, stop with the nonsense.

Collingwood and other Vic-club fans, your reasoning is archaic and inconsistent, given interstate clubs in the League play their finals at their regular home venues. Geelong as the higher ranked club are disadvantaged playing Collingwood, Hawthorn, Melbourne, Richmond at the MCG.

This match should be at Docklands in lieu of KP being renovated. It provides less of an advantage to Collingwood being the 4th placed team.

I leave this by playing devils advocate - the minor premiership or being the higher-ranked team shouldn't be given the weighting it does due to the uneven H&A fixture.

I think you made everyone happy here, oh, except with that last paragraph. And… off we go again. 🍿

No one earns the right to choose, clubs can express a preference though.
I've attended several Hawks finals at Marvel stadium where we were the higher finishing team, pretty sure we didn't choose that venue.

Because the AFL thought that ground was the best fit.
All members got tickets and heaps went on sale to the public too.
They may have got a few extra at the SCG but many would've been SCG Members that provide little extra income to the AFL.
Also the Giants had only played 1 game at the SCG that year so that would have been a little unfair.

Now I know you're just trolling

Nope, as I said, the AFL selects the most suitable ground in the state of the higher finishing team - they did that for the Giants final and got it bang on with the crowd of 22k. The SCG would have been half empty, they could only get 40k there for the derby final in 2018.

No teams earn home ground finals.
20-30 years back the AFL for logistical purposes decided that finals would be played in the STATE of the higher finishing team, because it was impractical and unfair for those teams and their fans to fly to Melbourne every week in September. People have mistakenly interpreted this as earning a home final.

Yeah but at all those marvel games you were playing interstate sides or geelong. So were still clearly advantaged by the game being at marvel.

funny how you ignore this point.

im happy to play home finals against interstate sides at the mcg. Its the melbourne sides we shouldnt play our home finals in melbourne.
