Half the people complaining about preseason form were saying it meant nothing when we played well in it for the last three years.

The last 3 years are different from the this year, namely we started preseason 3-4 weeks later than normal and add into that the amount of post season surgeries we had.

Think in Roos' first years at the club we simply had to show something in the preseason and develop any kind of winning mentality. Even last year after the disappointment of 2017 we had to show an improvement in the preseason a sense of desire/desperation that was questioned at the end of 2017. This year is all about long term and getting it right at the end of the season.

Our pre season will be solely judged on the result of the first game.

If we win it was just pre season and you can't read into it at all, we are above meaningless games now
If we lose it was obvious the club was falling apart and everyone who couldnt see it was stupid.

My comment was objective though. I don't really care about what the preseason 'means'.

I was more commenting on what I saw, which was heaps of 2m handball targets missed one after another, a pretty shoddy 'system' up forward, and long bombs. That is what has me worried, not losing both games or whatever.

I agree it looked s**t but for all we know the instruction was to go long at all costs to give us practice in contests and crumbing etc. For all we know we started trying to be cute an maintain possession an the coaches told them to get the * back to the plan.

If we play in the exact same manner against Port then see my previous post

Round 1 is very over hyped in terms of importance but the its the anticipation that builds it up to such an important game......win and its no worries about pre season form. Loose and the media/fans will look at worrying trends.

WC lost at home by 5 goals in round 1 last year
Collingwood lost by 5 goals
We lost at home as well.

Our first four are:

Port H
Geelong A
Essendon H
Sydney A

Bloody difficult start to the year, winning the Port game is very important.
then round 9 to 12 then final month are bloody hard reckon we need to go 3-1 in 2 of those 3 months

We've comfortably won four of our last five games, all played against top 8 sides. Tough streaks shouldn't scare us anymore.

You can't get better at beating good sides if you don't play good sides.

Just listening to the rush hour, Marcus Harris is a dees fan an he loves us because the Whiz was his favourite player.

I always thought he was the best opener in australia
Will come home to Victoria and play for the Dees when his contract expires, lock it in. Huge Dees fan growing up is my mail.

We should be 3-1 at minimum. Realistically we should be 4-0

Well that's depressing.

Listening to Jade Rawlings on SEN. Told a story about how we had a player last year who was getting borderline petulant, got sent back to the VFL with some tough chats from Goody and Rawlings, came back to the AFL with a completely changed attitude and a better player.

Any ideas who that might be?

Brayshaw?

Would guess Brayshaw as no-one else comes to mind.
