Had a quick gander. Inside football http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Ratings/Player/115831/Gary-ROHAN (the bold is mine). 2014 just after his broken leg in 2013

Looks at a quick read of the years, he has been mainly forward except for this patch after two horrible injuries in 2012/2013

RDCompNotes season 2014/10
8NEAFLSolid, though a while off a senior recall.-
9NEAFLStill struggling for form.-
10NEAFLBye.-
11NEAFLExcellent run off half-back.-
12NEAFLGood game off half-back. 17 touches and a goal.-
13PortSub. Late inclusion for Pyke and didn’t touch the leather.0
14NEAFLBye.-
15NEAFLQuite good until concussed late in second half.-
16WCELate inclusion who struggled to make an impact.3
17CarlStarting off half-back, pace was critical in a big step forward for the youngster.6
18HawShowed he is nearly over leg worries. Not big numbers but good down back.6
19EssDetermined to cement a spot in side and did OK.5
20PortPlayed his part in the win with two inside-50s and a cracking goal in last term.4
21StKRan and worked hard.6
22WBQuiet down back and made some poor decisions. Ordinary afternoon.2
23RichStarting in defence, he was extremely dangerous when pushed forward.6
QFFremMade some terrible errors in the first half. Improved from there.4
SF-
PFNMEnjoyed a coming out party. Run, rebound and attack on ball was superb.8
GFHawOne disposal to half time and seven for game. Could not have played any worse. !!!!!1

If that was the case, I'd like to see Rohan trialled off half-back or the wing. If he's getting 10 touches a game, breaking the lines off the half back line is something that could seriously improve us, him vs. Bews. We know he is a great at applying tackling pressure, I reckon he could really work back there. Also, allows more opportunity forward for Cocky (if he can get on the park - we then wouldn't be losing tackling pressure) and possibly Fogarty if he can run into some form.
Rohan played full back for Cobden. Was over looked in many junior falcon squads was when he was playing down back with his pace that he stood out. He started in the back line for Sydney before they moved him forward. So he knows the backline, and it prob suits him more then as a forward.

We do tend to like guys from other sports with plenty of upside .......

I would say thats overs for Brad Hill especially given what the Saits are trying to achieve with most of thier picks already traded out. Freo get our Round 1

Hill is contracted for 2 years. If they dont get 6 they will keep him end of story.

At least..superficially ..this would have to be our quietest "IN's" for a while ...

if we could change our picks to something like 12, 17 , 18 and 56 ... it would be a promising draft

And I still think we could lose a player or two yet...

Geelong Cats

Draft picks: 17, 36, 56, 92

Who they're after: Four-time St Kilda best and fairest Jack Steven is a target as the Cats look to add speed to a midfield lacking pace. The Cats went after – and missed – North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein late in the season, so they could look to that department again.

Who might leave: Gun midfielder Tim Kelly wants to get to West Coast and talks with the Eagles will ramp up on Monday. Lachie Henderson and Wylie Buzza remain without contract offers along with Zac Smith who has interest from his previous club Gold Coast and Essendon. - Mitch Cleary

Jack Steven hopes to be playing at the Cats in 2020.

Zac Smith with a few more opportunities at Essendon makes sense. He has been dealt with way too harshly.
I have never understood why we didn't play both Stanley and Smith together, week in week out, until proven not to work.

Hasn’t been very damaging from memory since his back issues , been out a lot this year or last? From injuries too.

I would pass I think his best days are behind him

He's still good.

Look at his last month.

Round 22: 19 touches, 10 marks and 5 goals 2 behinds
Round 23: 18 touches, 9 marks, 3 goals and 4 behinds with 3 tackles
QF: 18 touches, 7 marks and 2 goals with 2 tackles
PF: 13 touches, 6 marks, 1 goal with 4 tackles

He was still good for 5.5 marks and 1.5 goals per game this season too.

Is it only 2 years is it? Don't know where I got 4 from but yeah still heavily contracted.

Yeah 2 years and it was frontloaded so his salary is about to drop which is why he wants to move for more $ and why freo will keep him but they dont get 6.

The interesting bit for me is the list spots even if all our OOC guys go we can only free up 4 list spots (cunico scooter kelly smith hendo buzza out zg and simpson have to be elevated due to contracts) or 3 if we get steven. Unless we trade contracted players which is why i wouldnt be surprised to see an abbott/parsons type go if a club wants them. It also explains why we dont want multiple lower picks from wce as we dont have lots of list spots we want two good first rounders or one top end pick and some decent future picks and freo can do this better than wce can.

Trades rarely work unless hey are best22 ..but

Smith and Buzza for something that GC will not use.. they have 1,2,15,20 atm and still have some outs to get comp for... so perhaps our R2 or R3 upgrade? Maybe a 2020 pick ?
Abbot and a pick for Steven ..?

I still feel we lose someone we don't expect.. .. will Freo be happy losing two mids?

hang on that sounds like a CS comment...?

I think I agree with CS on this one.. smith at 206 should rule the sky ..he marks are not strong ..

Does the fact that we're not going after a ruckman, mean that we're 'going hard' at Luke Jackson for our first pick (whatever that ends up being from the Eagles)? I hope it does. Because if we pass on another elite ruckman, I'll seriously consider burning Kardinia Park to the ground.

Kelly, SS, Cunico, Hendo, Smith, Buzza..that's a fair amount already.
As long as NOT Henry, Kolo, MOC. We will need all our good young defensive talls for some years...

When was the last time he was given weeks to prove his worth in the past 2 seasons?

Is Jackson big enough to ruck at afl level? Seems he has good skills but I’d worry if he will be able to compete at afl level unless he grows a few cms

199 CM's (only 1 cm shorter than Stanley, same as Rata, and 1 cm taller than Blics)? Could grow too given he's only 18. So much upside and Grundy esque. It's our biggest achilles heel, and one we should be looking to permanently fix rather than constantly 'band-aid' over.

Round 19 and 20 this season and Rounds 8 and 9 last season. Never gets held for more than a couple of weeks because he just gets beaten so easily and offers less than Stanley.

For ruck depth we could look into Tom Nicholls who is out of contract at GC and is a free agent.

Hes injury prone and rubbish. If we go down that route id rather Pittonet who at least dominates a superior state league than neafl, or even Phillips. Really we could just move on Smith and Abbott and rookie a state league ruck and we'd be fine. The problem with our ruck stocks is a lack of top end quality not depth.

Except his first two games this season were both very good. He actually got dropped after a great first game this season which was ridiculous. Got dropped again after his one bad game for the season (against sandilands). Stanley had 5 dud games in a row before he got dropped. He is not given a fair oportunity.

Why not the quaint concept of what can he offer WITH Stanley?
His first game v Hawks 16, Danger's first as well, was big.
It's not age that has affected him.

I reckon Smith and Buzza have no value maybe pick 70 to get them off the books. If we get better wells is genius. Reckon parsons has bugger all value too. St k might want abbott less now with ryder but its worth asking.
