WARNING TO ALL VISITORS TO THE GEELONG BOARD. You are - for the most part - welcome to discuss the current list management & trading situation at Geelong. However, this is our board, so be respectful of the home board posters & don't inflame arguments (make your points succinctly and move on). And if you're just here to troll, then don't bother or you will be enjoying a holiday

Bruhn or Phillips from the upcoming draft would be worth a crack. We'd need to trade up into the top 6/7/8 or so, but I think it's possible. That's why it's important we land Cameron as a FA and hold our draft capital.

Definitely. Have heard a bit about Bruhn and like what I'm hearing, if he is that true number one then I'd be all for trading up.

Some are against that sort of model (I.e keep more picks, quantity over quality etc) but in my eyes we've already got the solid foot soldiers down pat, now we need the elite types.

Stephens - I don't see special personally, if anyone more in the know would like to enlighten me on him feel free, but I don't see the 'It' factor. Seems like a great kid and will get every last drop of potential out of himself, but I don't see number one mid here. Love to be proven wrong. However, he's a good looking dude and poster boy potential if he ends up any good.

with all respect.. can I ask what you are basing that on? You see nothing special? From what? The few scratch matches hes played during Covid? Youd be an amazing scout if you can pick talent based on this

Followed him a bit pre draft (Bit of a draft Nuffie, nerd lol) and I didn't see 'It' if you know what I mean. That jump off your screen quality. Never looked overly clean, has a bit of toe but not overly quick, kicking looks good but not great etc etc.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend like I'm a scout and write him off, wish the kid nothing but the best and will side with the recruiters as they undoubtedly have seen more of him than me and are therefore far more in the know. I just personally don't see a Selwood/PD replacement, and that's okay, they're bloody hard to come by.

Having said all of that, and this is not me having a dig at him and it could just be coincidence, a form of development etc, but wasn't he trialled as a HBF this year? If it's just development by all means, has happened to many, but not the greatest of signs.

Don’t be surprised to see us and the 2 Adelaide’s linked with George Hewett over the next week or so, I’d expect us to be linked with some more inside players, I think there’s a definite desire to find a ready made, mid 20s inside mid.

Where does Constable fit then, i thought this was his specialty?

is there any chance of that though? I can’t see how they are bringing him across without sending 2 of those picks back, and possibly steak knives too. great player, but I’m worried that we are trading away our future just to keep treading water in the same spot. It doesn’t matter how many great players you stack into the team, we are never going to beat richmond if we keep playing them like this.

Personally I've got no idea, but from the posturing out of GWS it sounds extremely unlikely we'll get him as a FA. Frustrating, because that'll make Geelong the only team to have traded for a FA, twice. The mob we played last night managed to land Lynch for free, which just adds to the frustration that we're likely to be made to pay up.

Something has gone horribly wrong up there. I worry the same for us next year after fallout from GF.

Not even remotely similar examples.

GWS is a plastic club full of players only there for a paycheck and cheap flag with a history of leaking players year after year. It's a surprise to no one that after one of the most embarrassing GF performances ever (Topped by only Port's against us) that they've finally fallen in a heap.

Same goes for the Crows, already considered the #feederclub and the GF abomination just exposed that even more.

We're a proud club, seemingly a destination club, and we'll come back from this. We put up a solid fight in an unbelievably tough year against a now all time great team. The examples couldn't be further apart.

Fair enough cheers. Thought you were just talking about from what you saw this year. Disappointing to know you didn’t rate him draft time

Adelaide also had the infamous off-season camp that seemingly lost most of the player's trust in the club.

I have been wrong before and undoubtedly will happen again, here's hoping this is one of them

Further to my point - re: no more trades due to listed talent -, if Steven was to come back fit and firing, Harry and Gaz retire, Clark gets significant game time and we get Cameron and Higgins...we actually get STRONGER next year.

B: O:Connor, Hendo, Bews
HB: Stewart, Blics, J. Clark
C: Dunc, Steven, Menegola
FO: Stanley, C. Guthrie, Parfitt
HF: S. Higgins, J. Cameron, Dahl
F: Danger, Hawkins, Miers
INT: Sel, Henry, S. Simpson, Kolo

EMG: Tuohy, Ratugolea, Close, Narkle/De Koning (if Narkle leaves)

Is there a team in the league that will be better than that? Crazy

Even if Narkle leaves, Steven flounders and Clark doesn't get game time/leaves, we still have Tuohy to slot into Clark's spot, Sel to take Steven's spot in the midfield and Close, Atkins, Coop, Fog all waiting in the wings to take a mid spot on the bench. Incredible depth right now

Need to draft a better game plan.

Purple sounded pretty confident on tv morning that the Giants wouldn’t match.

What do we do with tuohy? he was that half back running long kick we need but the MC dont seem to rate his defensive work anymore and now out of contract

He'll get a one year deal I reckon, may lose his spot to Clark next year

I couldn’t bring myself to watch the Sunday footy show
What did he say exactly mate?
Exactly that, doesn’t expect Cats to part with any picks for Cameron as he didn’t believe the Giants would match. Hope he’s correct.

They won't.

It goes against the AFLs stated purpose - driven by the AFLPA.

"Players need and deserve more freedom".

An AFL run club (GWS) will not be digging in its heels on Cameron, making it hard for him to move when its perfectly reasonable for him to do so without disadvantaging his new club.
