Just announced that GC are doing a deal with Collingwood to get them extra points. Only player they'll go the PSD route is Lipinski - as there is some serious bad blood there after the shenanigans the Dogs pulled with Treloar.

My money is on some form of pick upgrade. Say like the GC Pick 22 for the 27 we get from Freo and Kreuger. 5 spot upgrade would be a decent return, as a late throwaway pick is worth less than nothing to us in a 55 player draft.

Also doesn't hurt, when it comes to us getting a decent deal, that Scooter is their midfield coach too...
It was the other way round I thought. The pies tried to screw the dogs by backtracking on the amount of Treloar's wage they were going to pay?

Not phased. All true. I've come across some pretty obnoxious Geelong supporters here. Bookmark my post. There is no way you get anything more than pick 25 or Pick 27 and Tucker with a later pick coming back.
Then we won't do a deal. Simple as that. Clark is contracted for next season.

Exactly what we did with Tim Kelly. Freo either cough up what we want, or we walk. Simples.

Tucker is worth pick 65

Contracted Clark worth pick 18-20.

Any trade involving tucker will be based around a pick 18-20 with tucker inconsequential steal knives.

I personally do not want tucker. I’m shocked to see us linked with a 24 year old who would be behind our youth in the pecking order for our 22. He wouldn’t be close to best 22 for the cats, it makes little to zero sense.
Id wager Tucker would be ahead of all our fringe mids, actually has a defensive element to his game, probably why we want him in all honesty.

No chance of happening in this draft, sides will get points by flicking futures for current picks, not sliding down in a vastly compromised draft pool due to lack of match play.
THis draft is considered to have terrific depth. Many teams are particularly impressed with the talent in the first 25 picks. It's not vastly compromised by any stretch. Picks will have way more value than the value of their points equivalent.

A lot of smoke and mirrors and he said she said, but the fact remains, that the Dogs gave up f*ck all and paid f*ck all of his contract in the end - which meant that the Pies got screwed both ways.

Regardless of what intentions either club had, the Pies got the wrong end of the proverbial pineapple

I think
If coll get 22 from the suns as rumoured (for future 2nd) it would be good to offer kreuger 30 and 55 for a future 3rd or 4th (whatever they end up left with). No points hit to them but would give us a pick near the back of the first round.
Collingwood might trade 22 to North for norths 2022r2, with an understanding to not bid on Daicos.

Talk on the AFL website that we may be looking at Jonathon Ceglar as a ruck option...

why would another team agree to that swap? Points or something?

Bid points yes (bulldogs) or a team that doesnt have a R2 might be prepared to downgrade to get one in that range.

I see it the other way...the top 20 is much less predictable than previous years (covid) so teams may be more prepared to do downgrades than they normally are if it gives them currency for other deals.

12:10PM — CATS REJECT FREO’S EARLY CLARK OFFER

Tom Morris reports...

Geelong has flat-batted Fremantle’s trade offer for Jordan Clark.

Foxfooty.com.au understands the Cats said no to a straight swap for Pick 27 late last week, believing Clark is worth more given he’s a contracted player.

But Fremantle’s proposal was based on the premise that Clark has not been able to cement himself in Chris Scott’s best 22 on a weekly basis since debuting in 2019.

North are trading that pick for 19 and mckenzie?

Tom Morris reporting Geelong have flatly rejected pick 27 from freo and that the dockers are now attempting to source other picks through the Cerra trade.

Good. Given they have no picks after 27 unless they are prepared to offer 27 and a FR2/3 then its clearly going to have to wait until the cerra deal is done and freo hopefully offer more.

Mate it is silly season so if anyone wants to try and pick a swap for players or picks that should be ok....You are trying and will never be right with everything..and others not just you

I get that and everyones allowed an opinion and i love reading them all but its far easier to propose pick for pick trades than player for pick trades when the player actually needs to consent to the trade.

That's probably because he's a front runner and only really seems to play his best footy when Geelong is on top.

Plenty of sides have them. Gets on the end of a lot of footy when we dominate but based on his finals record alone (and some other big games which I won't rattle off) he's the type of player that we could still survive ok without.

Just the harsh reality.
Bollocks.

Can someone explain the attraction of Carlton? Anyone? Is it the guaranteed September free? Or is it the excessive salaries?
Zac Williams, Mitch McGovern, Jack Martin are all on north of $700k PA
