If the Pies and Dogs keep them then our picks slide to 28, 30 & 32 with 50 coming into 42 due to all those picks (8) being consumed in matching.

28 would give us a shot at Brown.
Would be an amazing result.

There are some academy players though, owens & windhager for the saints & fahey for gws., motlop (only if picked in the forties) which might sneak in before some of picks.

Can someone less lazy than me do all the picks in and out this trade period?
Per Mr S Writers at the AFL:

Who arrived: Jonathon Ceglar

Who left: Jordan Clark, Darcy Fort, Nathan Kreuger

2021 NAB AFL Draft picks: 22, 30, 32, 34, 50, 91

Future picks: The Cats received a future third (tied to Carlton, via Fremantle) and future fourth (tied to Hawthorn), giving up its own future fourth to the Dockers. The future third came as somewhat of a sweetener in the Jordan Clark trad

A mix bag for mine:
- Stengle good pick-up. Should be best 22 as much better than Miers, Close, Dahlhaus and Higgins
- Krueger means we have lost 2 kpb from last season with only SDK as a viable back up. Likely take a mature age in the draft
- Clark showing all that talent in his first year is a disaster with him not developing. What we got though was more than fair
- Ceglar is a nothing trade but at least it cost very little capital. Much better options available which I would have preferred as list fits. Will be interesting to see if he is utilised.

We have improved our best 22 but have lost some young players. I'll give our trade period a C+

You’ll need to pass me a big bottle of tomato sauce so I can eat my hat if Clark is among them.
Freo won't drop him because they traded what their fans see as overs. His confidence should be helped by the strong of games and he'll be playing on his preferred position.

He's a better shot to make that threshold than a huge chunk of players I think

Blitz at fullback... Please dear lord no... The dude is the ultimate panic merchant - the last thing we need is him on the last line of defence dropping his pants after his opponent kicks a few.

He has to be we are very thin for kpds..just get him to pass it to our runners and not kick it.

Think Brander really needs to be considered now. He may not have set the world on fire as yet but he’s still young and has something to work with.

I know we wanted him heavily in the kelly trade its possible..i think we need one more ready to go tall at either end (preferably a kpd) so hes one of the options for that. I wouldnt be surprised to see us take him as a DFA if the eagles delist him (or as s rookie if he has to delist himself).

I am more disappointed about losing Krueger than Clark. I am frustrated about losing Krueger, I feel he was given a fair go at Geelong but Collingwood have swooped on him anyway.

The Clark deal is a good one as it stands today, he could flourish back there, but he has some issues in his game. I wanted the draft pick back that we used on him pretty early this year and we sort of got it back now.

If we delist Constable that frees up a spot for him as well as taking 4 picks in the draft? I’d be leaving Close and Atkins as rookies. No benefit elevating either.

We only got 2yrs out of kelly , remember they offered a 4yr 800k deal for an inform young mid, what did those late first rounders add up 2 be.
If your going to throw stones about who i support because i have a different opinion thats up 2 you, your opinions have merit, but i don't see
as being win trades, we got who wanted to come but paid 1st rounders for nearly all of them, seconds back are sometimes ok for a player, but a lot
of them are misses too. Not seeing the wins you are, cameron will be no doubt if he is fit, but we paid for restricted fa as much as what we got 4 kelly.

...What?

Jeez string a coherent sentence together and try again...bloody hell.

Our trade history since 2015:

2015: 9, 28 and Gore for Danger and 50 (was worth 2 top 10 picks - Crows are still bitching about it),

2015: 17 for Henderson (about right for a Best 22 KPD at the time)

2015: Scooter Selwood for salary and no picks

2015: Zac Smith for Pick 50

2016: 22 and Tuohy for 19 and Smedts (3 pick downgrade)

2017: Pick 19 compo given to us for Motlop (which we were gifted from the AFL to save face) for Ablett and 24 (5 Pick downgrade and TK)

2018: Dahlhaus for salary only

2019: TK traded out for 14 (16 on draft night which became Cooper Stephens), 24 (which became Pick 11 after trading with GC for their future priority pick - on traded for Cameron), Future 1st (13 on traded for Cameron) and 37 (on traded for Jenkins and Future GC 3rd - Pick 42 - with all his salary paid) for TK and a Future 3rd

2020: Jeremy Cameron and GWS Future 2nd (Pick 32) traded out for Picks 13 (15 on draft night) and 15 (18 on draft night)

2020: Pick 20 (ended up as Pick 25 on draft night) traded for Essendon Future 2nd (Pick 30 this year)

2020: Lachie Fogarty and Pick 38 for Pick 30 (Pick 30 on traded for Shaun Higgins - this admittedly was a waste)

2021: Pick 55 and Nathan Kreuger for Pick 41 (on traded with Fort for Brisbane Future 3rd and Pick 50)

2021: Jordan Clark and our Future 4th (Pick 70ish) for Pick 22 and Carlton Future 3rd (likely Pick 45ish)

2021: Jonathan Ceglar (200K salary paid) and Hawthorn Future 4th (Pick 55ish) for Brisbane Future 3rd (Pick 50ish)

************************************************

In what universe, is a net loss of:

Picks 9, 17, 28, 50, a 3 pick downgrade from 19 to 22, Smedts, Motlop, Pick 37, Pick 25, Fogarty, Pick 38, Fort, Kreuger, Clark, Pick 70

for a net gain of:

Dangerfield, Tuohy, Henderson, Scooter, Dahl, Zac Smith, 3 years of Ablett, Jeremy Cameron, Pick 16, Pick 30, Pick 32, Ceglar, Pick 55ish

considered a loss?

***********************************************

You are literally the only poster I've seen (from any club including WC) who thinks that getting 2 years out of a ready made player who was literal crumbs in the Motlop loss that brought Ablett back, and then getting Jeremy Cameron, Pick 16 (Stephens), Pick 30 and Pick 32 - is some sort of 'loss' for us.

I actually cannot believe how negative a person would have to be to think that way. I'm just gonna ignore you, as it's far too frustrating to have a conversation with a supposed 'supporter' who thinks this way.

Enjoy the negativity :)

Be interested to see how he fairs next year. Unlikely he still would have been given many games with us in 2022. Think De Koning is well ahead of him.

Hope for his sake he does well.

Wise words from S.Wells

“It’s definitely something we’re well aware of; I think it simply boils down to the fact that we’re a hard team to get a game in, and we make no apologies for that,” he told Fox Footy’s Trading Day.

“We want to be as good as we can be to give ourselves the best chance of success. It’s a hard team to get a game in and unfortunately players that are looking for opportunity and don’t think they’re going to get it here will ask us to consider a trade, and then we get a draft hand from that and we try and turn that into some other good players.”

“It’s just our reality, as it’s been for a while now, that we haven’t had access to those top-10 picks, so we’re trying to find a way to compete with those teams that’ve had their own set of circumstances in their attack on the premiership,” Wells said.

“We’re well aware of the fact that we’ve got an older list, and that at some stage or other we might have to have a different strategy.

“But whilst we’ve had that team we’ve had over the last few years, it’s not been sensible to think that we might be getting those earlier draft picks that if we’d gone a different way with our list we might.

“We’re well aware, nothing’s sort of snuck up on us I suppose with the way the list has been; we’re continually trying to develop our strategies for the future, knowing that we’re trying to achieve some ultimate success in the short-term, but trying to cater for the medium-term and long-term as well.”

I hope we're looking closely, he was played on the wing (I think) in WAFL and for WC as well and the position doesn't seem suited to him however he did hit some good form in the WAFL late in the year https://www.wafl.com.au/player/jarrod-brander
There is talent there but from the Eagles games I saw but he looks very soft in the contest.
