There’s gifting and there’s developing. You have to be patient and accept some mistakes. But development can be fast tracked by giving more senior game time.

Spots for those young guys i mentioned could be easily be found. Don’t play them all at once of course. But have 2-3 in together.
2-3 should be doable.

STENGLE NO CONCERN FOR CATS GEELONG is confident Tyson Stengle’s past is behind him ahead of joining the club as a delisted free agent. The former Richmond and Adelaide small forward has nominated the Cats as his preferred destination as he looks to resume his stalled AFL career. It follows a standout season with SANFL premier Woodville-West Torrens following his axing by the Crows for an off-field indiscretion. Stengle can be signed by Geelong when his delisting by Adelaide is formalised on October 31. “We’ve done our research, we’ve made our enquiries,” Cats list boss Stephen Wells said. “And I think that we had a good bit of inside knowledge, too, through having Eddie Betts come and join our club and be able to pick his brain about Tyson Stengle, who he has great faith in. “It was another piece of information that we were able to use and gather “Tyson has convinced us that he’s put his past behind him and looking forward to a great future.” CATS CONTENT WITH CLARK TRADE Geelong has also been linked to former Cats rookie Blake Schlensog and ex-Adelaide key defender Daniel Talia as delisted free agents. Wells says former Geelong Falcon Schlensog is “one that we are considering”. “(Blake) had a great year over at South Fremantle and did a good job,” he said. “His efforts playing for South Fremantle in a really good competition over there in the WAFL were worthy of notice, not just by us, I’m sure, but by every AFL club.” However, Wells gave the impression that Talia, who was let go by the Crows after 200 games in 12 years at the end of this season, wasn’t in Geelong’s plans. “We’ll make some decisions now that trade period is over,” he said. “But, we’re confident that the players we’ve got now to play in our backline can take us into 2022 with a lot of confidence.” Twitter: @tom_king79

Who’s in our best 22 in 2024 that’s under 30 at that time?
We are cooked!
Bews SDK O'Connor
Henry Stevens
Holmes Constable Parfitt
Evans Ratagolea Close
Miers Stengle
Neale Stephens Narkle
I/C Atkins Kolo, Evans Simpson Z. Guthrie Greek Freak
Only really missing a CHB and a FF under 30 in 2024.
Well have Cameron for a couple of years and could pick up Brander or Schlensog too
3 drafts and further FA by then too
Not as grim as it sims

When Wells talks like that there is a very decent chance we will be making an offer to Schlenshog. We could add Brander as well as a swingman. I mean as pointed out we have no depth at either end in the twos. As it stands we have no back up key backs and maybe Neale as our only key forward outside the seniors.

Bundle two of the 5 picks and then take 4 draftees and 3 DFA.

Half those players won’t be there either. Chook probably gone soon.

Tenace? Murdoch? Krueger?
Nah seriously, give me footballers please.
I agree with this. Constable is too far the other way, but I think we rate athletic traits too highly sometimes. Even with Holmes, I don't think he has enough composure with the ball yet to make me think he'll definitely be a long-term success. Clark had the same issue where he had a really good kick on him, but his decision making and composure were severely lacking. You could say the same about the composure with the ball of half our backline. I want to see some guys come in that are comfortable with the ball.

You can do both (short and long term) as we have been doing it for 10 years and with free agency its more do able than it ever was.
So where is all our young talent? Our best players are always the older brigade - it's extremely rare to have a Parfitt on Narkle produce a BOG performance... There is no doubt in my mind that we were focused on the 'now' based on our recruiting decisions over the past 10 years - that has failed and now they are trying to change the narrative that we do actually care about improving our list with quality kids instead of relying on 30+ year olds to carry us over the line until their bodies break down when finals rolls around.

Do you honestly think Chris Scott will? He has to much love for Esava

I’ve been banging on about Esava playing in the ones all year- but as an Esava fan I would love to see him play a month of one out at fullforward for four quarters in the bankers- then the next month four QTRS of number one ruck.

Let’s see if he can a) kick six and the. B) run out a game in the ruck

Ceglar and Stanley give us some good opportunities to develop

NOTHING wrong with VFL - Jenkins- Kreuger and Fort out provides a lot of opportunity to expose young players to KEY big man roles

Playing three ruckman a week and three CHB and Full Forwards (being a bit dramatic I know) in the twos isn’t helping anyone

I think we should be playing both ceglar and Sav in the 2s so that should be plenty

Branders manager has already came out and said he sees himself as a forward, dont understand why hed come and be 4th in line again at Geelong when he wants opportunity.

He could take rohans spot.

I agree and In fairness we will be allowed to play over thirties in 2024- Danger (forward pocket) Blitz full back Cameron (CHF) and Duncan (back or forward flank) guthrie bench onballer or wing will all play in 2024 as will Stewart- even if that is there last year

Also from this point to that We will also have a batch of draftees in third third year with the club
A batch in there second year
A fresh batch of draftees
two years of trades and two years of free agents

The players you mention aren’t the worst to build from! I’m optimistic

Well we have lost two AFL ‘able’ forwards in Jenkins and Fort (who looked a fwd who could pinch hit ruck) and two backs in Krueger and Henderson and haven’t bought a single person in yet.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to have Schlenshog and Brander come onto the list (primary or rookie) as well as look to hit the draft with a further selection like Rhett Bazzo or 20 year old Leek Aleer.

Schlensog yeah sure if he's ready I agree we're thin for kpds but with two non-ruck kpfs and a narrow home ground we can't just park rucks in the forward line, they actively remove space and make us worse. We had so many ruck and forward options in the 2s this year that Tsap played nab league and Neale spent half the season in WA
