Would be almost poetic if Scott has his last year at the club with Stanley still as our no.1 ruck. Then in 2023 we embark on a new dawn - new attacking coach with a new ruck/midfield set up.
Would be even more poetic if his first and last years were flag years.;)

LOL... C'mon man...
If Q. Narkle can get a GIG in our midfield then P.Dow is a walk up start.
If T. Atkins S. Higgins & O'Conner get a go in our midfield then P.Dow is an automatic selection.
Get on board... GiddyUp!!
What are you watching? Narkle cant get a gig in our midfield and neither can Paddy fu#@in Dow.

Nothing wrong with Stanley as our no.1 ruck in 2022. He’s not Gawn (nobody is) but he’s a hell of a lot better than Martin/English, who made the GF. Only three years ago Lycett and Vardy smashed Grundy in the GF.

A couple of clubs are lucky to have generational rucks like Gawn and Naitanui. The rest of us need to make do with what we have - there is nobody on the market better than Stanley and he is not the reason we’ve failed to win a flag in his time at Geelong.

Ladhams (autocorrect wanted “Lasagne”) would want to go somewhere where he is clear first banana. Won’t be here having just signed Rhys for two.

Signing rhys doesnt stop ladhams being no1.

This makes things interesting - Collingwood may not be able to get both through the preseason drafting, so who do they think they can get a trade done for if they can only trade for one and PSD the other?

The ask would be higher on lipinski so he'd be the one they'd PSD I'd think. Unless North declare an interest

I’d agree with most of that. His good games have been terrific. His career has been characterised by even a couple of great quarters followed by nothing which makes him so frustrating to follow as a supporter.

What I would add is that Stanley’s inconsistency has contributed to us losing games over the period. You could argue that if he’d been dominant after half time in last years GF we may have been a lot closer than we ended up.

I certainly now see replacing him a little down the list of priorities. First, second and third priorities just has to be re-building our midfield.

King is going to be a senior assistant at GC-seems like his wife has family up there so family reasons are coming into it.

I too would love Choco but unlikely.

I wouldnt mind Sando actually just not as a head coach..as a development coach he is fine.
I think the criticisms that have been levelled at Scarlett are the same criticisms levelled at Sanderson when he was sacked from the crom. Tried to create a boys club clique. Saw himself as part of the playing group. Might have pulled his head in since

And more to the point, hasn’t been. In the past five national drafts we have taken 23 selections. We will take another four selections this year. It is a core part of the list management strategy but seemingly very poorly understood.
You're correct but there's also no way you can write that into a one line meme

Can’t find a link to share but Ch 7 reported Clark is reconsidering potential trade request in light of Scarlett’s departure.

I must say if Scarlett actually said he’d refuse to play Clark in ‘his’ backline I think that’s extremely poor and the antithesis of how talented young players should be developed.

Yes, but why must our selections always come so late in the piece? Surely the club could organise itself properly to get some really early picks for a change?

Sounds completely and utterly in keeping with Scarlo as a character, though. People talk about Scott's stubbornness and lack of people skills but potentially fail to understand that he's probably been outdone on those measures by one of his own coaching panel in recent years.

Legendary footballer, no doubt. Far less notable people manager, I would suspect.

That measure wouldn’t tell you much as if you continually finish high in the ladder, as we do, your median pick will be further down the order.
Bit of work but you could do a median versus finishing position variance which would factor out your clubs success and leave you with your traded to position.

By year with rank the median selection that you would have in the natural draft order for the number of picks you take versus the actual median. So the outcome was that in any given year you might have pushed yourself back half a dozen selections with a trade in or pulled in if you lost players.

Might have to account for selections being pushed out for priority picks, FS, academy etc too. A lot of work.

It’s nothing new further than what has been speculated I don’t think:

CATS YOUNG GUN’S RIFT WITH KEY COACH REVEALED

Geelong speedster Jordan Clark’s future is up in the air after the departure of the club’s defensive coach Matthew Scarlett.

Clark is contracted for one more season at Geelong, but as revealed by foxfooty.com.au this month has met with Fremantle and is weighing up a trade request to get there and get back to West Australia.

Throwing a spanner in the works however, AFL Media’s Mitch Cleary reports that Clark may be holding off on lodging an official request after the departure of defensive coach and Cats great Matthew Scarlett.

“Jordan Clark is contracted for one more season at the Cats. He hasn’t been able to play in that defensive system because my understanding is Matthew Scarlet hasn’t wanted to play him there,” Cleary said on AFL Trade Radio.

“He’s been a non-believer in Jordan Clark as a defender in that side. That’s why you’ve seen Jordan Clark try and play on the wing, and even as a small forward this season.

“It hasn’t worked. He’s a halfback or even a wingman and that’s where he played his best footy in his last year as a junior and his first year at the Cats when he burst onto the scene.”

Cleary said the Dockers were willing to offer the 20-year-old a four-year deal and that he still expected a trade request to come.

A Herald Sun report this week said the Cats were prepared to hold Clark to his contract if a suitable deal couldn’t be reached with the Dockers.

If Clark goes, which sounds more likely than not, best case scenario would be Clark & 34 for 25 (via Carlton for Cerra) & 27. Values Clark around end of first round, which is what Geelong have apparently requested, and Freo don’t have to use or split a first rounder. Look at then trading 30 & 32 for Bulldogs 17. Gets us into the first round and gives the dogs points. Hit the draft with 17, 25 & 27
Losing Clark not great but that would be falling on your feet
