In line with cap increases sure, maybe a little bump from what he had. I would still think it's going to be a cheaper end contract

I hope kolos on a slightly lower $ than last time but happy to keep him.

The interesting thing will be if we also offer bews 3 years or if we only offer him 1 and another club offers him more.

I think Turbo said it fairly well.

If say we have pick 19-20 and 50 from what i remember we would use 2 picks in the draft and use 50 to upgrade Atkins.

I could of missed something that changed or just don't remember it though.

Of course this is just an example no idea how many picks we want to take into the draft.

We may only take 3 and use 2 in the draft using the 3rd to upgrade Akins or we may end up with more due to trades and end up taking 5.

We will have to wait and see who we keep and who we let go and who wants out before we really know.

We have no r1 (holmes trade) but we have essendon and gwss r2s which should be in the mid to late 20s plus our r2 in the late 30s and our r3 in the mid 50s.

Essendon having an extremely annoying purple patch. Well done to them but not helpful. GWS popping up for a few too many wins too

Picks 19-20 and 50 are just used for examples no idea what picks we end up with yet or how many we take to the draft.

We could trade players out/in to affect which and how many picks we have.

Thats true but we have 3 R2s and a R3 so we wont throw them away..2 picks only happens if we trade say our last R2 for someones FR2 or FR3.

Been happy to look at trade with Dogs or Pies for points... but maybe that changes if we cant get the FA's we had targeted. Are we really going to be happy not to add someone to our 2022 playing group? It would be unusual.

If we trade them to Pies or Dogs ...What those deal would be... just depends on the machination of cleverness we can come up with.

Id see if we can wangle Henry from Collingwood. He has not set the world on fire perhaps we can get him for good value when they need picks for the best kid in the draft.

Id also be happy to move one of our R2 for the Collingwood R2, as id expect their 2022 to be bottom half of R2.

I fear we may look at someone like Sidebottom who is like like a shell of the player he was atm. I doubt he would too much trouble picking up our game plan.

AS it stands ... we will have something like P28,P29, P34 and P52 .... it really depends on how well Ess, GWS and Cats go.

If we promoted Atkins with 52... then what we do with the 28,29,34 is unknown.

...and yes we may gain picks. Guthrie could go somewhere and we get an R1 pick but we probably do not get any pick in a trade or high value.

I'd like to see stephens, narkle, constable, holmes, clark and parfitt as our future mids
we should move heaven and earth to retain them all
I would release in this order
Zuthrie
Jarvis
Brownless
Okunbor
Taheny
Stanley if a better ruck option avails itself
Jenkins
Evans

Why are we supposedly interested in Ollie Henry..because of his surname??? He has shown very little in his brief sojourns at senior level....he can stay at the Pies....he looks a fair way off it at this stage.

Good point. So many people get wrapped up in family links, without looking at what they are really offering. Just look at zuthrie.

Probably because the system he is playing in at the Pies is never going to be conducive for a young forward to either show what he has or develop. He was always seen as a high(ish) draft pick and we would have taken him if we had the chance. That talent ... prospective or otherwise doesn't die off after one year in a system completely different to junior comps.

He showed in the practice match we had v the pies what he is capable of ... now just needs a system where he can show it more often.

In saying that ... he only has a small window before that horse bolts. There's plenty of young players historically that have been lost because of how recruiting chooses the wrong type for the way the team plays.

Who knows. He may be happier. Merrit was out of Ess last year, it can change. However if a player like Narkle gets wind of us looking at another player that may push him out then ...
Key thing for Narkle is what he stated in one of his pressers - needs to be consistent in his level of performance. Interesting that he has changed managers and is now with Ralph Carr. You have to acknowledge the job Carr has done for Dusty and how well he has looked after him. Carr will get the best deal he can for Narkle wherever that ends up being. Still had the feeling listening to Narkle that all things being equal he would prefer to stay at the Cattery.

Wasn't it said during the week, that playing in Collingwoods forward line would be the hardest thing to do in the Afl at the moment? IF thats the case then poor Ollie has no hope of looking any good.

So im assuming we didnt move Stephens to LTI list and therefore dont have a mid season pick?

Talk of the Bombers going for Greens brother.

no. My bet is it would create difficulties at the end of the year. There are a cost factors as well if we are tight.

Not convinced till we have a full list available and Narkle is still selected

Will almost certainly keep Zuthrie due to his ‘utility

IMO -Likely to go :
Jarvis
Brownless
Okunbor
Taheny

Jarvis has talent but looks 10% off the AFL Level
Brownless and Okunbor - incredibly fit and faultless application but not sure if enough.
Taheny - flashes of that talent only. Still so raw. Tarca was showing way more at same stage last year.

Kreuger- is he safe? Desperately needs to stay fit and consistently show value to stay on IMO.

wouldn’t be surprised if JJ or Fort asked to go - both might attract some offers if current form persists.
