Yeah look, you could keep going. Mackie too skinny, Johnson too daft, Chapman too bald, Mooney too angry, Rooke and Corey too awesome, etc.
LOL
GA jr too lazy , Kelly too injured ....

The two periods are incomparable. Prior to 2007 we were experimenting in the hope of finding a combination that was anything close to winning a flag. The 2021 players you are talking about here are seasoned, experienced and very good players. There’s no case to omit them in the hope that a youngster can be better. We can’t waste this opportunity to give the flag our best shot with the strongest team possible.IMHO the 'problem' is twofold:
1. He is not an inside mid or forward and his best role looks like an outside rebounding/wing role. Which means that in the GFC world he is automatically behind Duncan, Menegola, Smith, Higgins and Tuohy who all in different ways cover that role.
2. Geelong just fundamentally is not prepared to persist with senior games for obviously talented youngsters when they can just use 'old faithful' senior players who will give predictable, if limited, service.
IMHO this year so far Duncan and Smith from the above list should be in every week but Menegola, Higgins and Tuohy could all have been rotated out at different times to keep getting games into Clark.
It's like everyone at the club has been zapped with that memory-wipe thing from Men in Black and they no longer remember the years it took to get the 2007 team up to that level. I'm sure many here will remember how Enright couldn't kick, Ling was too slow, Ablett didn't put in the required workrate and so on. But they all had time to develop.
Hands off Mundy!Surely Freo have a 35 year old we could swap Clark for?

Yes, that's the logic. But it's been applied pretty consistently now for a few years, and the result so far is 0 flags and quite a few players who we have drafted but failed to develop. On top of which, I strongly disagree that it would be wasting an opportunity for a flag to play a bit more youth - to the contrary you need a bit of dynamism in a team if you are going for a flag. Richmond last year had a significantly younger, smaller, lighter and less experienced team than we did in the GF...The two periods are incomparable. 1. Saying we didn’t win the flag so the approach was wrong is flawed logic. What was the identifiable counterfactual that would have won us a flag? There isn’t one.Yes, that's the logic. 1. The counterfactual is that if you were never going to win the flag anyway you were better off developing your list for a tilt in a few years (no, not 'bottoming out', just not completely abandoning development of draftees for the sake of endless 'it's our last year' flag tilts).1. 2. What other teams choose to do is irrelevant. We’ve got to work with our list and make decisions based on the resources at our disposal.
1. Fallacious thinking. Utterly devoid of any merit or logic.1. 2. No it isn't, I guarantee you a huge amount of what the club does is based on cherry picking the best stuff other clubs come up with.
Selwood, Guthrie and Hendo.Anyone see what Jon Ralph said about us, said 3 cats looking close to extensions. I’m too cheap to pay for the sun lol.
ThanksSelwood, Guthrie and Hendo.
Mitch Duncan is obviously A grade and a better player this year than Selwood or Dangerfield. In fact, when conscious, he's arguably our best midfielder alongside Guthrie.
It’s easy to not win a Bf and not be AA in strong sidesHow many AA's or B&Fs for Duncan? A graders in my eyes are reserved for the genuine top liners.
Champions are difference makers. Very soon, one of the best will be gone and we will feel the loss of the difference he has made for so long.
It's been a long time since he was picked and played well in his first year and has played well for so long and for so long in big games.
Atm the cupboard is empty. Do we bring someone in. Can we bring anyone in atm anyway. There is no replacement for him. Any FA available is only a poor imitation.

Youre talking about Selwood i assume?
Which Guthrie?Selwood, Guthrie and Hendo.
Package deal, 2-for-1.Which Guthrie?![]()
The article says Selwood will sign a 1 year deal, Guthrie multi year and Hendo contract talks haven’t begun but club is open for him to continue. Also says Clark likely to ask for a trade.
Id say the club is more than open to Hendo staying. It’s strange that Guthrie didn’t sign after winning the BnF you’d think if he was staying that’d be the best time to get a great deal. I don’t think he’ll leave but it is curious. I really hope that Zac is not signed, he has improved but not enough to get another contract.
I’d rather give Darcy Lang a contract than Zac only a couple of years older and has looked good down back in the vfl this year.
A couple of news outlets have reported the last week or two that freo are very keen. I think it’s them more putting pieces together. Rated highly by the media, not playing regularly and other clubs are keen. It wouldn’t surprise me if he leaves but I also don’t rate him as highly as others. He doesn’t work hard enough and needs to really improve his game awareness, kicking and strength.Good news on Hendo and Guth, but I wonder where they got the news that Clark was ready to walk?
(I wouldn't be entirely surprised, of course.)

No one mentions what they will be preparedf to do to get the deal done... Personally I think Rich go for Cerra and we may end up with our R1 back
