which is? I cannot see any "obvious" reasons why he shouldn't or couldn't be captain
thejester has answered that issue in every wayI reckon Blicavs is a sneaky chance. Stewart ticks a lot of the right boxes but he cut a very angry figure on the field this year. Blicavs has the media presence, the pedigree and clearly sets standards for the group.
He deserves to the only query is his age. Danger would only do it for 2-3yrs and by then stewart blitz duncan etc etc will all be too old for a handover so youd be looking at a handover to a younger player.

He and Cuthrie...finally getting the recognition they deserve. Both fantastic servants of this footy club. Guthrie well on track for 300-games too.Ah, I remember when many on here potted Blicavs at every opportunity. Even when he won the Carji, he got no respect. How the worm turns.
I know I previously said we’d go with Busslinger at 8 a while ago, but the closer we get to draft time my mind is changing. I’m more inclined that we’ll draft a bolter - like a Hayes or even Ed Allen.
Agreed... I still think we are a real chance to trade #7 if our preferred one or two players are not available. If we do surely it’s off the back of 7&58 for 14&17 or similar.
Said it above: surely Danger will be captain. He just won the Gary Ayres medal for best finals player. He's got the gift of the gab. He's pretty savvy on all things AFL.
Another observation; many see this as a shallow draft. But I wonder whether this is because there is so much focus on early developing mids. Some players drafted in the 30s and 40s will, as usual, emerge as serious players. I just read Jakob Ryan's profile. Not saying he'll make it but he may in time become a permanent intercept AFL defender, and there are quite a few others who've been getting 25+ disposals playing wing/halfback. Only a few of these will make it but some will and it would be great to snag one with our second pick.
Harvey Gallagher appealed to me last year and still looks a promising player.
but I’d be gobsmacked if we made it
but Paddy’s the man to do it as well as taking the pressure of the next incumbent stepping straight into Joel’s boots. The anti-Blicavs and the anti-Geelong (or Scott) types formed a Venn diagram of a circle. Once we were going well they disappeared.Ah, I remember when many on here potted Blicavs at every opportunity. Even when he won the Carji, he got no respect. How the worm turns.

I was anti-Blicavs-in defense. The anti-Blicavs and the anti-Geelong (or Scott) types formed a Venn diagram of a circle. Once we were going well they disappeared.
He got selected in the AA squad while playing back there. He wasn't half as inept in D50 as some made him out to be.I was anti-Blicavs-in defense.
Fair enough but I'm not going to argue about it. I'm just happy we decided to play him in his 'best' position. He got selected in the AA squad while playing back there. He wasn't half as inept in D50 as some made him out to be.
Danger deserves the captaincy for his performances since joining the club. This season, he stopped trying to carry the team and fed other players, which then, strangely, led to him regaining form in the finals.Personally, I think Dangerfield will be our new captain.
We'll find out soon.
I'm going to make a huge call ... In 5 years time Charlie Clarke will be considered a top 10 pick when looking back at the upcoming draft.Top 10 in our range, in order of preference - combined with who I think Wells and co. will select if available:
1. Jhye Clark
2. Cam Mackenzie
3. Bailey Humphrey
4. Elijah Tsatas
5. Jedd Busslinger
6. Elijah Hewett
7. Reuben Ginbey
8. Mattaes Phillipou
9. Brayden George (would not surprise me as he's such a Wells pick)
10. Ed Allan (smokey of the draft)
Only 10 or so more days of this speculation left - getting close now!
