Dont see how that gets done .
We might take him if Clark is gone.

We're all of the belief that we've traded up for a midfielder, but what if we've just traded up for Clark? And if Clark isn't there and we don't rate the other mids we might go with Busslinger.

It's always hard to tell with these as each club has their own unique view. Clark could be at the top of our board and another club could have him at 15 (e.g Stocker at 6 to the Blues when he was a projected 15-20)

After thinking about it for a bit, I now know why we at the very least traded our Future 2nd before the weekend was out. Now, Collingwood can't ask us for our Future 1st, because we literally can't do it.

I have no idea what's happening overall, but I get the feeling Mack and Wellsy do - and we're all going to be very happy come Wednesday night

but that was being achieved by the Bowes trade. It all just seems like a David Lynch film atm

7 ...I thought we were getting 5

Id like to see the total of ins and out now that we have traded the Torquay front beach for P25 ;)

Dont assess the ins and outs til bowes is done.
Id love p5

Possible that GC or the AFL (represented by Ned Guy) didn't think our Future 2nd was enough , given it will fall in the 30's, so have asked for our Future 1st.

Also, with the Bowes trade, we would have given up our Future 2nd and then not been able to attain 25 from the Lions for Henry.

So the way it seems to me, is that we're either looking at getting Pick 5 instead from GC - and we have to wait for the Rankine deal to go ahead, to then give them our Future 1st for 5, Bowes and their Future 2nd back (to avoid AFL exemption rules) or the deal stays the same but we only have to give up a Future 3rd for Bowes and 7 as Ralph seems to think. Either way, we're waiting for other things to play out, IMO.

"Hello yes, Gold Coast is it? Yeah look, we've just had to let go of the Front Beach in another house and land deal, but I reckon you guys would look great at Breamlea! Yep, 5 minutes down the road from Front Beach. A steal, actually."

Busslinger
SDK
Blicavs
Cameron
Hawkins
As a spine for 2 years sounds good to me
Limited older players to resign next year with no future picks bar 1st

Tell us you don't understand rules around trading future picks without telling us you don't understand rules on trading future picks (comments in italics & underlined):

- Stop trolling. It's going to be Pick 7 and Bowes for Pick 25.
Henry will be done for Cats future first.

- Can't be done for Geelong's future first - as they've traded their future 2nd to Brisbane as part of the pick swap for pick 25, their future first is now off the table

- But they will have Pick 7 which means what they've done with their future 2nd doesn't matter.

-
Except your original comment was about Geelong trading their future 1st to Collingwood for Henry
As Geelong has traded their future 2nd their currently unable to trade their future 1st for Henry
So not sure what pick 7 has to do with the Henry trade

- If Geelong hold Pick 7, they are free to trade out their future first to Pies. They wont need to worry about what seconds they've got.

🤦

While I agree none of these trade options are likely to be in play, the rules around how many future picks you can trade and how many 1st rd picks you must have/use in 4(?) years aren’t set in concrete.
We can apply for an exemption, and have done so in the past I think to complete the Tuohy trade.
The rules are there to stop mediocre clubs selling their future for a quick fix. If we bring in Bruhn, Henry (1st rounders themselves) & pick 7, all are 20 years old and under, IMO that would satisfy the AFL in allowing us to trade our future 1st if we wanted to.

Can Ollie Henry nominate for the National Draft rather than pre-season? If so, if Collingwood don't take 25 he simply nominates for ND and I doubt anyone uses a pick before 25 on him. Either way we get him for 25.

Yes he can and thats what will happen if no trade is done

Entirely agree. Many of the clubs who despise us most have picks like this every other year. So it's only natural that some will think it's not that impressive for us to have picked it up.

For those with an eye to our history, though, it bears mentioning that this will be our first single-figure pick since 2006.

Thats true - but what year did we get Tom Hawkins for a 3rd rounder

Now Nth Melb are getting a priority pick - that leaves Geel as the only club to not receive a priority pick

However i think we got a defacto Priority pick when we got Hawkins for a 3rd rounder - because Tom was touted as a no 1 pick and a champion schoolboy footballer

Jenkins on SEN just now said he doesn’t think the Henry or Ratugolea deals will get done…

I think both will get done and Ratagolea will help us get Henry. Pies won't accept 25 on its own, but we will sweeten it like the Dockers did last year.

Just to give another example of trade media amateur hour:

I heard Matthew Lloyd talking about Grundy yesterday. He was talking about how he mentored Grundy pre-draft and he started talking about what Grundy was motivated by, what was important to him (he mentioned that Grundy was not a “footy-head”, that he was into interests outside of footy and implied that footy was not all-encompassing for him, etc) and disclosed details of his mentoring discussions.

I can’t speak for other people, but if a professional mentor of mine went public with details of what I thought were confidential discussions around my career aspirations and motivations I would be severely pissed off. I know that Lloyd is a bit of a bottom feeder but the casual way in which he broke Grundy’s confidence without a second thought was staggering.
Well he is from EFC after all
