I think he’ll be available and we won’t select him
Who do you think we will go for ?

I just don't know if Clark is that much better than say Parfitt or Bruhn, then we also have Willis on the books. Have a feeling we might go a bigger mid. Especially after off-loading Cooper Stephens.

There would be a group of players with better highlights. My bet Rohan had a group of the best high lights you ever saw ... and for years he was question on his finals ... I wonder Joels Highlights were like? I think there is strong chance he is gone at our pick... so highlights aside ..I think there are clubs that rate him.

Really its only about if he is there imo....and if he isn't what do we do then

Who would be your second choice?

Gee..where does clown write ...WA? Did he happen to mention Priority picks ...like the one that got Juds to WA or the one that got Riewildot to Stk..? No its whinny about Father Sons. that were drafted ... ...what 20 years ago?

I get the point being raised about us getting lucky with being able to pick up both Joel & Tom in the same draft due to how the F&S selection rule worked then

But bringing both Scarlett & Ablett into the discussion seems more about the careers they forged rather than the kids they were at draft time - I don't have the best recollection of either during their pre-draft days, but not sure I remember reading or hearing too much over the years about either being top 5 picks prior to their draft

I kinda want to see it be Phillipou just to watch this place burn to the ground
I want anyone except Clark for that very reason lol

I dont think we need a genuine Mid
If we can get a mid with differences and can play multiple roles then that’s fine.

I think we will take either Phillipou, Ginbey or Busslinger

We’re stacked with Mids, especially inside Mids

To add I believe Ginbey can be the real steal of the draft. Kid is built for the game already and a beautiful left foot kick.
Can start him as a BP to develop before moving him into the midfield

I wish I had someone that really screams "PickMe" .. There are a few that will be OK. It really does depend on who has been taken. If we got a trade that involved a Fr1 id look at it closely .

Only gut feel

Tsatis is the one who slips. Humpfey is the only who has the biggest bust bang range Allen is the one who could be called early His speed and running at his size is tempting.

We would if we still got the player Wells&Mack wanted.
yeah?

I can only say what id prefer ..which is getting into next years draft.

P11 which is 12 or 13.. I guess then we could call Busslinger for example ... and then at 22 .. Maybe Hayes or Hotton or Barnett ..someone. depends who is there.

Then trade our late pick if we could but its probably worth about as much as used razor.

Any chance for Lewis Hayes? Projected high teens so a while back from our pick 7 - maybe we would just take best available

But this boy looked good for Vic Metro at full back. Very attacking and great intercept mark. 199cm and still growing. A december birthdate so young for the draft. To me he could be another SDK even if we have to wait a couple of years.

To go that way they would have to believe they have enough young mid options and feel short in key positions from 2025 onward? Just a thought

I’d probably go MacKenzie but only because I saw him live in the APS final do some great stuff to get Brighton back into the game. One goal he kicked was special.

I’m not someone who wants to trade our pick 8 out but if it’s to get a player like Hayes and trade a few spots back and gain another pick with it then I’m all for it.
I think using pick 8 of Hayes would be a waste, but trading for him is not a waste

Because they were not. In fact Scarlett was not even our first choice that year. Ablett might have been around SJ range ..2001 draft was the megmegasuperduper draft

I like him... would be happy with that if it goes that way... but I suspect i would probably pick someone else. We are talking dental floss between these guys. Its that type of draft

Pick 11 is 11 don’t use players that aren’t available to inflate the number.
Cmon TC you’re better than that buddy hehe 😜
Fir me picks from 5-15/20 are pretty much the same same.

I like him too, feels a very safe pick for mine.

Might not have the ceiling of a Ginbey or Phillipou, but far less likely to be a bust. Seems like a good fella as well, which is always something we look for.

A bit of conjecture about Phillipou around here but I will say this: If there's one club that could utilise his strengths and minimise his flaws it's us.

I've just got a feeling that if he goes to an Essendon or St Kilda which is being suggested, that it won't end well. He's a confident type, bordering on arrogant and you can see that in his interviews (For anyone interested, there's some in-depth stuff about this on the D&T board)

If he goes to a struggling club with a poor culture like the aforementioned, he'll play early, probably be one of the better players and he'll be drinking his own bathwater by April. I think it's likely he'll get the 'messiah' treatment...these clubs are crying out for a poster boy to get them back on track and sell hope to the supporters.

On the other hand, if he came here we'd handle him a lot better IMO. We're off the back of a flag and every chance to be better next year with new recruits. There's sound logic that we don't even need him, and he could therefore mature in the VFL for a couple years and maybe be mentored by a Selwood, Dangerfield, Kelly etc.

He'd be able to mature both as a person and a footballer. Come to the realisation that while yes he's talented, he's still got a lot of work to do to be one of the better players in the competition.

For players like this you have to approach things differently. They've been the best player in their team since juniors, been the schoolboy hero etc....they're not used to not being 'needed' so to speak. It'll be an important development process for him and one that he won't get at other clubs at the top of the order.

I doubt we draft him as he doesn't seem like our type at all, but if we do I expect it to go like this.
Work ethic and talent is not a problem. I want him with our pick but 100% understand that other don't. Mitch Thorp vibes

Ashcroft will make 11 into 12 for sure... I doubt Fltecher gets called but who knows.

History says that although 5-15 looks about the same ... they usually are not.

Ashcroft isn’t available…. Neither is Fletcher or Davey.
Those players are already taken.
So why count players that are not attainable??

I'd like to hear your thoughts because I don't know what to make of him tbh.

Not really a huge fan of him....but coming off a flag I'm not as invested in who we pick as usual, more just happy to have the pick in the first place.

There's others I'd take before him, but wouldn't hate it if we picked him either. Would back the club to get the best out of him.

Yes please. Imagine our future backline with agile skilled mobile KB's like DeK, and HAYES. Enviable
