Have I missed something here?

We have said we would take him as a rookie but what if someone bids on him “very low chance”
Or have we now stated we’re going to take him on the primary list?
According to that news report, Geelong has told him they're going to take him as a father/son pick in the draft, not as a rookie. We know as much as you do.

'We have followed Osca and Ted closely and have spoken to both players with a commitment to selecting them in the Rookie Draft," Geelong recruitment manager Stephen Wells said in a club statement.

No other club win bid on him, he is a Project player given his size.
The pick they'll use will be very late, as I agree, no one else will bid on him early. IIRC, the club did this with Oscar Brownless. They gave him a shot for a couple of years to see if he could turn into something. If it doesn't work out, the club will delist him and move on. It's a speculative/developmental pick and some good PR for the club.

Seems strange we’re announcing we will take him as a father son and then we have also said if he gets through to a rookie we will take him.
Maybe we will take Oscar on the primary list now and Rookie someone else in mind, maybe a DFA?
Maybe a VFL player?

Not sure of the outcome yet but I wouldn’t be doing tv reports just yet

This last couple of weeks has been like watching people debate the speed of paint drying on a wall

Id say its early and the order might change but my phantom top10 at the moment is ..

GWS Pick 1 at P1 the Giants call Dulux Weathershield. They traded up to get this and were alwasy going with the Old English sheep Dog best seller

Brisbane Pick2 Match the North bid and go Dulux wash and wear Never the cheapest but its been the Lion plan, they were always taking this one Interviewed well and drys quickly... will play round 1

North Pick 3 Porters.. North probably over paying here but North wanted some excitement, something a little but exotic.

North go again Pick 4 Taubmans Tradex. After the Porters pick they wanted some inside grunt and a hard wrker

Ess Pick 5 ..the tipping point of the draft. The Bombers select White Knight rust guard. The Bomber desperate for a white knight ..and are fearful of a return to stagnant rust of the past have gone the rust guard.

Gold Coast. Pick 6 Dulux 1 step prep. ... The Suns can always see the value in striping it back and starting again.. so why not be prepared.

Hawthorn Pick 7 British paints ... been out of vogue since Rolf was put away but Haw heard Geelong were interest and jumped early. Geelong were never interested , as they have multiple Irish painters painting the backline.

Geelong Pick 8 ... Wattyl Solagard Semi Gloss ... works well in cold temperature which is hand in Geelong and value for money. Time will tell if it was a wize selection leaving Haymes on the board ....

West Coast Pick9. Hayne Ultra Trim Acrylic Enamel ... after the criticism of being a little out of nick...they went the ultra trim hoping for a better look.

StKilda P10 Solver Maxi Wash .... Looking for something... hoping Solver is the solution...

I'm calling it now - we're gonna be tearing our hair out at not picking Haymes. If you ever had a guarantee of a ten-year career this is it ... all class without silly splashiness, equally strong inside and outside, fantastic in the wet but can also cope with the heat ... so insanely durable his high-school coach said he doesn't even get blisters. I know people get leery about the extra prep he would have needed, but you have to pay something for class.

Off Topic but....

Gary Ablett is about to play in the NT league at 8:30.

You need a Herald Sun sub to get access on Kommunity TV.

Ima enjoy watching the goat in 15 minutes.

Hopefully he plays some local Geelong league games... The grounds would be pumping.
Shame its not free anywhere, I am not paying the Herald Scum money. Hopefully the stream is uploaded to their YT channel later.

Peter Ryan who is almost as spot on as Mitch with Geelong news had a little snippet in a Connor McKenna article today on Oisin.

“Geelong, who arguably had as successful a trade period as the Lions, are also expected to add an Irishman to their list in the off-season with talented Mayo youngster Oisin Mullin considering joining the club as a category B rookie”

Not offical confirmation. If Mullin is serious then surely he makes his way over for the start of pre-season in three weeks. Getting here in January and giving yourself 6 weeks hardly seems ideal.

On another note there has never been a more Geel style pick than Ed Allan. Injured most of his draft year, athletic freak. He’s shortened to a $1.50 in my book. I’m glad we have unearthed him this early so that ppl can get their heads around it 😉

Where are we currently at with wanting Clark, it’s been a minute since that conversation has happened
checks notes

I'm hearing he may last to our pick, then again he might not, we might also not select him if available. Much to play out and I'll be posting unedited, continuous, train-of- thought posts until we know

Good pick up for the Suns at 6. I hear 1 step is ready to go from round 1.

Mullin has to learn footy from the ground up anyway. He very likely won't be playing next year regardless. Let him have Christmas in the snow with the fam

In the draft could mean rookie draft though.
