Don’t rate Ginbey?

I like his workrate and aggression but hes low production for a mid (admittedly less than 12mths in the role). I do think he will be a very good small back/half back but im not convinced he will be a bonafide mid and to me you dont spend top 10 picks on small/med defenders when you can easily get them later in drafts. Top 10 picks should be for genuine mids and genuine kpp which is why id rather we go a more proven mid (eg clark) or a genuine kpp (busslinger).

I doubt essendon pick him its just about gc or hawthorn.

We have said we would take him as a rookie but what if someone bids on him “very low chance”
Or have we now stated we’re going to take him on the primary list?

Hes guaranteed to be on a list ie ours as a rookie or someone elses if they pick him first. I dont think it means we will take him main draft.

My preference

1. Jhye Clark
2. Trade for a future 1st
3. Trade to bulldogs for 11 and 23
4. Trade to swans for 14 and 17
5. Trade to giants for 15 and 18
6. Busslinger
7. Ed Allan

For me clark then busslinger then mackenzie then phillipou.
List spots are the issue with trading 7 down to 2 lower picks. Id do 7 down to 11/13/14/15/17 (ie one of those picks) and a future 1st though.

Reckon the Hawks will take Clark. And we will take MacKenzie. Which would still be an outstanding result.

Aren’t we taking two from the draft? I’d be more than happy with two slow burns at say 14 and 17 as we don’t have a pressing need for depth right now. Hayes and George would do me just fine.

With Hawkins coming to an end soon, I’d plan for the future by packaging pick 7 with something else and get a top power forward, this year or next.

I reckon he will play next season a few games. Think they will try him back pocket or back flank, maybe even wing or forward pocket. He looks like he has wheels to burn, I like those types that are quick and can mark overhead.

Both quick. Both have tanks. Both have versatility. Athletic traits they both have in spades.
Raw and contested footy was Holmes knock, same can be said about Allan.

I think it was more that he wasn't really ever used as an on ball player. Every coach he ever had saw a running machine and told him to play wing.

There was only that one off match after covid restrictions lifted where he played on ball and had a handful of highlights. Outside that everyone was judging the book by its cover

Yes, but exceptional mobility for a KPP.
Look back 20 yrs ago- how many "experts" had MACKIE in their sights?
At least Lewis is in the 10-20 bracket in most estimates
