Taylor Adams for 33 done.
Swans cleaning up.
Wish we’d do something…. anything?
Tim Kelly? Or maybe Dom Sheed.I doubt Curtain falls to us... But if he did it could be potentially great.
If WC rate him like we have been led to believe they may trade us plenty for that pick to snag him.
The media need to pump out stories. Some days it will be the draft picks, other days it will be Clarko the genius... but... is talent enough to win premierships? No. It takes stable off-field, great coaching and extremely good development. What annoys me most about all the NM picks is that they have Clarko as coach who will likely be the recipient of labels like coaching genius, rather than all accepting that he has been gifted a team of high draft picks that we have not seen since days of GWS and GC
Straight swap their future first for pick 8, please.

I would want more imo.. We couldn't just assume WCE would finish in the bottom 4...
I reckon there's already a deal in the works, and I think that's how Reid gets done.
Something along the lines of:
Essendon -
OUT: Picks 9, 30 & Future 1st (8-12ish)
IN: Pick 3 (McKay compo)
North -
OUT: Picks 2 & 3
IN: Picks 1, 22 & 30
West Coast -
OUT: Picks 1 & 22
IN: Picks 2, 9 & Future 1st (8-12ish)
******************
There's just a lot of rumours of Zane already being earmarked to be paired up with Xavier - so they need North's Pick 3 to make that a certainty. If all this happens, Hawks likely pick McKercher or Watson and Dogs pick the other 1 of the 2. That's when Sanders becomes a live possibility.

Zac Fisher trade done, now Norf have 2, 3, 15, 17 and 18. Suspect their next offer for Reid might be 2, 15, 17 and 18. Who knows though.
Is North an option for our notional pick 7?
We could secure a number of picks inside 30 then, when you throw in Esava’s pick.
That would fill those list spots we have opened up.
Tim Kelly? Or maybe Dom Sheed.
Can't see us accepting 15 & 18 for 8, tbh. There's a massive premium on the Top 10 of this draft, and I don't think Pick 18 moves the needle enough to get into that bracket, IMO.That's what I was thinking when I saw North's recent acquistions.
I'm assuming they'd want to keep at least one of the #2 and #3 selections, but equally I assume the Eagles would be looking for two single-digit selections to part with #1/Harley Reid.
Therefore: #15 + #18 to us for #8.
#2 (or #3 - presumably the Eagles and Roos could collude as to who would select who and it is a moot decision) and #8 to Eagles for #1/Reid.

I'm guessing If we trade the pick it'll be on the night and will involve a F1 as well as dropping back a couple of places. No chance we accept that deal.
I know, it wasn't serious. But Sheed, who knows.Kelly wouldn't want to come back.

It's just not the year to get involved. There's a whole slew of fringe players/veteran players/out of favour players floating around this trade period, and no-one of real note. Only interesting one thus far has been Lachie Schultz.
It's a sh*t trade period, as expected. Next year will get interesting again.
There is no doubt in my mind that will be the case. We would be kicking ourselves if someone like Sanders slipped to 8 and we'd traded that pick away for 2 players who are much more speculative, prior to the draft. There will be A LOT of clubs vying for that pick on the night, given we essentially stand to acquire the last 'elite' player in that group of 8 in the open pool. Reckon Wilson falls into that too, so it might be Essendon as well, but clubs will definitely be ringing once our pick comes around.
No sense in trading before then, until we can gauge exactly just how valuable that is to others.
That's what I was thinking when I saw North's recent acquistions.
I reckon any of Dow, Fisher, Duursma, Dylan Stephens would play a role for us in 2024 and all are the right age profile for us to help build our post-Danger core.
Can’t complain too much given how we fared last year but it’s clear the likes of the Pies, Port and Swans will exit the trade period having strengthened their lists. If we want to open up some game time for Knevitt, Dempsey and Conway etc in 2024 that’s fine, but signing Tuohy (and trying to re-sign I Smith) suggests we are expecting to contend again.
We are all assuming that Mackie/Wells rate Sanders. We may be totally wrong and they see him as having a low ceiling or at least little potential for substantial improvement. Can you imagine the uproar if we trade out in the night if he is available?!
Even as a massive Sanders fan, I'd back them in. They would know better than us.We are all assuming that Mackie/Wells rate Sanders. Absolutely.Honestly, they're all players that couldn't get games in their own sides, who are now moving to lesser sides to try and get games. I don't see any of them staying in the firsts long, bar maybe Duursma - but even he has a ton of flaws to his game. Fisher at North should do ok too, but they're not anything special.
I mean, it's a case of either (for example):
Dow, Fisher, Duursma and Stephens
or
Knevitt, Dempsey, Jhye and Mullin
Those guys come in, it pushes our guys further down - and I know which I'd prefer in the long run.
Oh, and we always expect to contend![]()
