There's surprises every year.

Oleg Markov, Mason Cox and Billy Frampton become premiership players. Carlton finish top 4 and play in a prelim. Geelong finish 12th a year after belting Sydney in a GF and winning 16 games in a row. Ceglar becomes the first AFL player to play with prosthetic legs.

But banter aside, I think Knevitt will be told that Isaac Smith's spot on the wing is his if he busts his gut and does a big pre-season. And made more likely if we don't find a way to land Bailey Smith. Jury is out on Dempsey at AFL level - and we've not seen enough yet of Clark (although we all hope and pray we put pick 7 to good use last year).
Agree with the Dempsey commentary, the board has been banging on about him being in our best 22 but he has not done anything at AFL level as yet to suggest that…

Hard to know the impact of assistant coaches but I think adding King would be a great addition. Not that keen to fill the club with only ex cats players but he’s had plenty of time at other clubs.
He’s experienced a fair bit across clubs as a player and coach.
A bit unique to have a key position player as coach would be a good coach for our rucks and other keys.
Having another coach with experience would be of benefit and help Scott to keep adapting and improving the team.

Channel 9 reporting James Harmes to Geelong or Collingwood

Channel 7 reporting McQualter to Melbourne

Are people taking the pi55 here saying they wouldn’t want Oliver? One of the top few mids in the league in his prime? In our weakest position. Deadset glad anyone here isn’t on the club committee. Also don’t give me the “no dickhead” policy. Same people probably said they same about De Goey, how’d he go on the weekend?

King is happy on the GC. I know his uncle quite well, he lives here in the Marsh.

Got some intel late today regarding our midfield stocks which I thought was worth sharing.

Mullin is one the coaches see as transitioning to a midfield role. Has the tank - has the skills - and they like the explosive ability away from contests. He’s a strong unit, and along with Rohan and Holmes, consistently amongst the fastest blokes in testing.

Chris Scott loves him and it might explain why they got games into him this year ahead of what some expected.

Will be an interesting watch to see how he develops over summer.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't see an AFL player with Mullin.

Channel 7 reporting McQualter to Melbourne

Channel 7 reporting Harmes to Carlton, Essendon or Sydney the ones they linked him to

No mention of Geelong

Mystery mid of the future. Bazlenka? No. Oliver? No. Wines? No……. Oisin Mullen. Yes. Yikes

Channel 7 said Carlton, Essendon and Sydney are looking for midfield depth but made no mention if they'd spoken to Harmes.

Channel 9 specifically said Geelong and Collingwood want Harmes.

Agree he is a jet and would rocket us into contention again. Put and simple

Who Knows Idk GIF

Mmmmm....the mystery Mid/Forward!

Apparently a well liked and funny bloke. Good character.

Pretty average footballer now days though!

Not exactly a trade, but thoughts on McQualter as an assistant coach?

Richmond assistant coach Andrew McQualter quits club after missing out on top job

The popular figure has left for a rival club after 10 years at the Tigers.

Saw us linked to Steven King & McQualter recently, can't think of where.

Think it was Sam Edmund, so every chance it's a random throw at the stumps.

King is happy on the GC. I know his uncle quite well, he lives here in the Marsh.

Been mentioned a couple of times this week on reliable news source trade radio that cats have reached out to him about joining.
Go have a word to the family and get him home.
Listening to SEN a little over an hour ago and King to geelong got let out by Jenkins, then tried to back track.
So it looks likely to happen.

In regards to Harmes, you need bullys to be successful as a team, you need those bloke who fight for there teammates, have abit of mungrel about them.
Harmes is that, underrated as a footballer too

I thought his Round 24 game against the Dogs was a massive improvement over his first few games.

If that rate of improvement continues, I definitely think you'll be wrong on this one. Has something intangible about him - and already has an AFL body with all the traits you want in the modern elite footballer.

Obvs a wait and see, but that last game against the Dogs, really made me very bullish on him for the future.

Channel 9 news here in SA saying we’re into James Harmes. Is this new news or just BS?

He’s not a star but I don’t mind the idea of Harmes. Has a bit of pace and aggression and would be a good add to our midfield mix.

Yeah I've always liked him. Bit of Isaac Smith in him with the 'loveable larrikin' side - but a real tough edge on game day.

No standout traits, but for a cheap price, could be one worth bringing in to facilitate the next gen transition.
