As we are now getting into the season and we are starting to get a bit more serious with discussion, seems a suitable time to post the following as it's repeatedly shown itself to be a value reference tool in trade & draft discussion

And as per normal, thanks to Lore for putting this together - always a fantastic reference tool

And yes this post is now stickied - makes it easy to keep track of (can easily reverse this though if needed)

Excellent questionWell professor professor sumner miller .... like the egg in the milk bottle trick. why is it so?
You may be showing your age there Turbo.
Glad that you picked up on my Julius Sumner Miller reference.:thumbsu:

Thanks Turbo.
I don't frequent this place as in days of old, so the term escaped me.

like me me getting too old for it bud. I never thought id see one flag at one stage..now I have seen 4. Put it this way ... I think I understand Rocky 3 a lot more these days...

I have an even greater appreciation of guys like Selwood and Bartel and Enright and Hawkins...to have maintained their hunger for as long as they have, and maybe Nathan Ablett too for finding a way to put effort in when he had no hunger at all.

Hawks 100% to take Clarke i reckon, they wont make that mistake twice like they did with Selwood.

Reckon we might takw McKenzie or Busslinger

100% is a fair claim, haha. I'd argue that Mackenize is the perfect fit for them, and most insiders have him going to the Hawks...so I'd be surprised at this stage if they went with Clark - especially given they just recruited Ward and Macdonald last year as future smaller mids.

Pure_Ownage Turbocat (and anyone else who’d care to respond) - any prediction as to where 22yo Joe Richards from Wang might go in the order? And to whom? Cheers, CC

Latest rumour (posted on main board from Herald Sun late draft mail) is that North at 23 are very interested, but if he makes it past there, Collingwood will take him with their second pick at Pick 25.

Yep, I gave up my seat this year due to health issues. It's Kayo for me these days. I only went to the Easter Monday game V the Dawks. It is a game that I traditionally go to with my older (now only surviving) brother. What lousy timing as I missed out on being at the MCG to see the Cats win 4 premierships. I was beginning to think that I would not live long enough to see the Cats win a flag. I came to that conclusion strongly after the Annus Horribilis of 2006. Who knows what's around the corner. I may get one of those 3 or 4 game memberships, even if I don't attend them. Is it too much to ask that I now want to see Geelong win back to back? It has not been done by a Geelong team in over 70 years.
I better add some content that corresponds to the thread title.

I don't know who we will end up with in the draft, but I will be interested to see some of the reactions to that pick.

I think we were hoping he would get to us at 58 but looks like he will go early-mid r2 now. North melb and coll linked and i assume gws would be keen given their need for small fwds.

Wells interview:

  • top four on their list will be gone
  • concentrated on a group of about 10 players
  • chance we moved back in the order
  • Mackie dealing with a number of interested clubs re moving back
  • didn’t have a player in mind when receiving pick 7
  • draft ranking has changed but not drastically
  • only just finished psych profiling and interviewing
  • still no idea who they’ll get tonight because they don’t know who will be left
  • if we draft Jhye it won’t be because he’s local, it will be because he’s the best player at that pick
  • if they rate players the same they’d go for the local option
  • will pick the player that best complements the existing group, not concerned where they’re from in the country
  • almost calm about tonight because they’re confident there’ll be good players where they pick
  • Wells wants trading to open up more and allow clubs to do whatever they want to do with less scrutiny from AFL
  • feels list is well placed to continue challenging
  • re Oisin Mullin, covid uncertainty was the big factor in him not joining last year
  • a lot of our players went over to Ireland over the break and met Mullin
  • sees Mullin as a running defender
  • Mullin arrives at the club tomorrow
  • re scouting Irish players, want them to be able to run and show a natural game sense
  • confident Mullin’s kicking, run, carry and overhead work will be good

Excellent summary Boris: I've just watched it. Wells was a bit more forthcoming than usual. Got the impression nothing is set in stone yet.

Any number I said would be pure conjecture ...

it only takes one clubs. If a club falls in love with a player then sometimes thats all it takes. My guess is its probably not top 30 and thats nothing to do if he can play or not. If he is good as Dempsey he will be a good addition to someone list.

If that reported Melbourne deal of 2 future first round picks (one tied to Fremantle finish} plus pick 13 in this year's draft was offered to us and Clark was off the table I would take it in a heartbeat.
