Smith, kindof. Parish and Guthrie don’t have that star quality though - not in the sense of a Bont, Petracca, Daicos, or a Butters.

Yet we made all of them look pedestrian with Joel running on fumes & Danger capturing his best for 4 weeks.

Not so much a shot at you, but people on here love to shoot down ideas without offering an alternative.

I want us to bring in Parish, without a shadow of a doubt. The only claim I am pushing back on is that Parish and Smith would push us from probably an 8-10 side straight into flag contention.

Agree to disagree. I personally think we were injuries away from being top 6 this year, and believe Smith & Parish + improvement from youth boosts that to top 4.

You mention the star power of Butters, Bont etc...where's their Tom Hawkins & Jeremy Cameron? Where's their Stengle, Blitz & Stewart?

It goes both ways. Health permitting, we still have a premiership quality forward and backline. If the midfield can get to just a 'very good' level then we're right back amongst it.

Need I remind you that the competition is as weak as it's been in a looooong time.

I think this is part of the issue - Hawkins is no longer a star, and Cameron can be one on his day at the moment but there are questions over how regular that will be, given he turns 31 in April.

Blicavs isn't a star, and if he ever was, he's 33 in March. Good player, yes, but no star - I don't think even his Mum would have put him in the 20 best players in the AFL. Same goes for Stengle at the moment. Stewart is our one star player, but he's a defender and you can't really win games from defence so much as save them.

Blicavs has as many BnF's as Enright does...they are hardly a real measure of ability. Rather they are a measure of a players ability to contribute to the team by playing their role. At least these days that's what they seem to be for clubs.

Pies never would have sent him to the PSD they were just pretending that (rightly so to close a deal).wright like wells is experienced and not a moron. They got a 3rd club involved to get the best deal we could (as did we by asking stephens to go to hawks on the last day) but if that didnt happen they were taking 25 over nothing (as we will be with sav). If you believe otherwise i dont know what to tell you.

As for sav i think the idea of r1s for him is fanciful if wells and mackie can pull that off they deserve a medal. In reality itll be 37 and minor pick upgrades (for eg i floated 37 and an fr2 for sav and a r3) or 37 and some cheap fringe player (hayes for example). We will hold out for more but like collingwood we will ultimately take it and unless a tom mitchell deal drops in via a 3rd.club thats what we get.
