I've mentioned this a few times but Jumping Jack was right. When it kept being rumoured that Geelong were into Oliver, we weren't. Oliver was into Geelong. Geelong weren't sold on the idea and were concerned. Oliver and his management expressed such a want to come to Geelong, that Geelong then decided to consider it if it was on the right terms.
During the trade period and after Oliver's visit, then Geelong thought the trade might get done. We didn't chase him throughout the year though, it was the other way round.
This is just wrong. Geelong were into Oliver and once he felt he wasn’t wanted that’s when everything escalated on Oliver’s side.

Tbh the videos of him emerging to me are blown up and irrational… a 23yo kid went out at night for some martinis and smashed a dessert open with his fist..what wrong message does this send??

What if JUH spent the entire morning and evening in the gym and then had several intensive rehab sessions with clinicians??? And as part of his therapy he is advised to go out and enjoy time with friends or family to help his mental health.and he has some w***er trying to post videos of him in isolation to make him look bad..

Is that a terrible look??

We have absolutely 0 context or informati on about what he actually spends his days doing besides a video of him drinking a martini and having fun at a dessert bar at night.

Agreed. He just seems really cringe at worst.

Just on JUH, have you read the Dogs board?

I won't tar them all with the same brush, as there's some decent people over there too...but one bloke genuinely believes Geelong have told JUH to behave like a dickhead in order to get him cheaply at the end of the year.

Remarkable 4D chess play. The GFC illuminati just pulling the strings again.

As FishGutz says, it might be a bad look, but the guy is just cringe.

He's not breaking the law, he's just doing dumb shit like most other people his age.

If they think Geelong are some how bethind that...then I don't know what to say.

The dogs have a very weird one way hatred of us. I didn’t realize we are their most hated club until I ventured over there a few times and they are absolutely geelong obsessed as bad as hawks or tigers.

Can I ask what is such a bad look about a kid smashing a dessert and drinking a martini?? Just looks to me a kid having fun. I take a different look on that. Let people enjoy themselves.

If JUH comes to us and this is something he loves going out with mates doing then I would encourage him to go out and smash all the desserts he wants. As long as he commits himself to our club and puts in the work once he arrives, I couldn’t care less what he does in his fun time. Heck I will even recommend him some awesome desserts to smash up. A happy player is a better player, mental health is so important

His not snorting cocaine or drunk driving.

This is true but we should also spread the rumour that this is the Geelong illuminati bringing the boy home

Ugle-Hagan is the type of footballer who would push a team like us over the brink to premiership glory. We are very much in it this year all because of Jeremy Cameron. I mean take him out and we just aren't doing much when the whips are cracking.

We could probably get RoB for nothing if the Crows get Draper. Would we really want to, though? He's a spud. He is useless around the ground, and got done by Stanley - a mid-30s Stanley on his last legs. He'd offer less than what Ceglar offered.

Pittonet or Marshall would both be great. I don't see why we couldn't target one of the two, depending on what TDK does. The rest of your suggestions, I don't really think they offer anything of value. We'd be better off just rotating Blitz, Neale and SDK.

Rob is a free agent so he's salary only.
Look I don't rate ROB massively but he's much better than ceglar purely because he's barely missed a game in 5 years and doesn't get injured (ceglars body was cooked by the time he got to us). Also because of age you would only have to worry about 2 or 3 years of him so he doesn't block Edwards long term.

Pittonet useful yes but they wont let him go if tdk goes (he's contracted). And the same with Marshall he's 30 and contracted and unlike ROB would cost us multiple r1s.

I do think we have to find a ruck from somewhere though-blitz and Stanley are just about done and it's not an option just to rely on the kids in the short term. So we will need a cheap mature ruck it's just a matter of who.

It's good he is giving his body a break so he is all fresh for us next year. Smith has taught him well 😁

It's the optics of choosing not to play or train for football and taking leave, but seemingly just partying and doing dumb shit while being paid.

It's not just the martini video, it's the other pub stuff, and hanging out with shadowy figures.

He's not doing anything that most other people in their twenties don't do as well...but most of them aren't contracted to an AFL club, or at the pub messing around while their club is playing in their anniversary game.

It's a bad look because of the circumstances, not the literal activities he's partaking in.

I'm pretty liberal with it and don't really care myself, but I'm not naive enough to not see why it would bother others.

Tbh , on how Dangerfield is playing. Dangerfield is the main reason why we could contend... Id be m ore concern if Dangerfield wasn't playing

This is spot on. And this is also why I’m all for us going for him. It’s the same factors people were against Smith. They don’t like what he did outside of footy etc. but like Stengle, my friend who played SANFL with him at the time told me, “if you guys go for him and can keep him steady, he will be unreal” and he was spot on.

Certain actions cannot be backed in. Sexual misconduct is a big no. Some other behaviour is blurry. But being a cringe, dumb kid, you can learn.

It is a good point you make, Kobe. There is almost a liberal and conservative view on it. I weirdly remember thinking Geelong from 2016-2020 were a bit vanilla. We actually missed guys wanting the limelight and toeing the line of being rebels. I think it’s good to have them around to bring other guys out of their shell and also let the introverts do their job and not cop the flack. Takes a balance of personalities. And interestingly we prioritise good kids and a good attitude when drafting, which seemingly allows more room for bringing in other clubs riff raff and giving them a good foundation and culture to thrive in. It’s a smart concept and a confident one by the club.

Whether or not JUH will straighten out in a new environment is impossible to predict and that’s why everyone will want him cheap. I do know for a fact though the Bulldogs boys like to party and that even includes the media darling Bont, so that’s food for thought as well. Doesn’t seem to affect him with the right balance.

Oh… and Hogan turned out alright for GWS. Right now he feels like the perfect comparison to JUH.

I was initially an advocate for going after JUH, but not now.

His attitude is below the minimum standard. This is completely different to others such as smith or stengle who never had such low stupid entitled attitudes. Smith always an impeccable trainer and stengle just led astray.

I think JUH needs to feel what it’s like to not have a club want him and play VFL for a year and completely rebuild his mindset. He has to want it again.

After proving he has fixed his attitude then I’d be all for it but not now at this point.

What exactly do you know about what he does?? Unless you know something from insiders, I assume you know nothing like the rest of us besides the videos and that he isn’t training at the club. Which is basically you are filling in the gaps.

I’m not being naive about it, I’m just not jumping to irrational conclusions based on a video clip of him at the dessert bar. We could be being very unfair to the kid

His behaviour is a lot worse than a few videos. Needs to stop hanging around bikie gangs for a start

I liked Edwards in the champs…and he resonates the type of player CS likes. Mobile. Athletic. IF both players could stay fit and reach their potential I agree that Edwards may be the player they go to. Id just like for them all to get fit and stay fit so we can make observation about what they offer on the ground.
Agree. I think Chris Scott's dream ruck is a taller Mark Blicavs.

CS seems to think traditional ruck-pathway (under-age comp rucks graduating to senior comp) prospects are too immobile, too injury-prone or have an early use-by date. He seems to prefer importing from other sports (mainly Basketball). Understandable as Rules have sanitised the Ruck and we don't need incredible hulks anyone.

Cringe is unforgivable. Whats next some ret@rded tik tok dance.

Late 3rd + minimum chips.

I know I probably shouldn't laugh, but if the AFL sign off on Tom being eligible as an NGA selection for Geelong, then it's another player that the Saints could very well miss out on

If it’s not drug related and more of a behaviour of a concern then that’s worse imo

Drug problem you could get him some strong support and clean, behaviour and decision making would require some extreme mentorship and a minder around him .

I’m starting to think he will be more trouble than he is worth
It appears his earlier courtship (now in the past?) with Fevola's daughter was text-book "women select partners who resemble their dads". Now, he is out Fevola-ing Fevola. He can't stop pressing that self-destruct button repeatedly.
Disclaimers:
1) I'm no expert on JUH's issue/condition. Just my observation.
2) I'm no expert on women. I don't seek to trivialise their thought process.
