What I have been told.

Wilkie has been offered 1.5 mil a year by the bulldogs. The only question mark is who they get in return (targeting Frejiah). Aleer is getting paid less than reported and will be a late pick. GWS have a salary squeeze.

As I reported earlier Flanders is likely at St Kilda. They kicked off everything with Merrit. They also have another inside Mid on the radar - not sure who?

I'm told SDk is currently part of discussions regarding Marshall and is a real possibility. Scott doesn't see how all of COS, Kolo, Henry and SDK all fit within the same backline.

I absolutely wouldn’t be trading SDK unless he wanted out and there’s no indication of that.

He is still the best genuine stopper we have on our list and we forget he’s only 24 because he’s been a mainstay for years now.

I’m very optimistic about COS but I don’t see him as a genuine shut down key defender - more a Darcy Moore

I’m very optimistic about COS but I don’t see him as a genuine shut down key defender - more a Darcy Moore type who can intercept and provide run and rebound, but also be exposed when teams play through his opponent. Doesn’t mean he won’t end up a star like Moore has been.

If I assume the possibility that we'll trade SDK is true, I'll also assume SDK has given them a nod to explore the idea.

Scott doesnt like the dinosaur type of ruck so I doubt it.
Moyle would be the one id love but I dont think you could lever him out of that contract.
If hawthorn get really active with midfielder trades I wonder if you could get ramsden with the right offer and the no1 ruck spot.
More realistically probably someone like ladhams for cheap (he could cover us for a year or two while we assess the market) is probably where you go if you can't get a better young ruck.

The reason I'm asking for what other ruck we can get. Is we 100% need a mature age ruckman for the next 2 or 3 years.
Sadly iv got no faith in Conway as his body unfortunately can't hold up to AFL standards.
Iv got faith in Edwards that can be our No 1 ruck in 2 or so years time.
But we need a ruckman for the start of next year

Ladhams has reportedly been offered a 2yr contract extension by Sydney - that may be a reason why there's minimal news of external interest

I assume soldos partner wont agree to come here. But ladhams could be doable and theres a couple of other mature back up rucks that could work. I know this sounds silly but would we ask Goldstein to give us cover (I'm thinking through the SSP not taking now) for 12 months.
I know he can't move here because of his kids but I wonder if he could stay in Melbourne and do it on a FIFO basis play some games for us for whenever we need to rest blitz and do ruck coaching. That would give us 12 months to then see a) whether we are spending all our picks on butters and b) see what better rucks are available in 12 months.

I think there’s some big assumptions made about Marshall and whether he wants to leave and wants to get to Geelong. Everything I’m hearing points to that but I won’t believe it until I hear it from him or his manager.

If Curnow nominates Geelong this week it leads me to think GFC have told him they can get a deal done and that Marshall might be off the table. No logical way I see both deals getting done.

We aren't getting both done unless we are trading a best 22 player or two out (curnow would cost at least 2 r1s and maybe a player and marshall a r1 at least) and not fringe guys like Stevens etc.
So when you rule out the guys from our GF team that are untradeable or too old that could only really be sdk, humphries, mannagh (but i doubt he would leave vic), Holmes, neale or osullivan. I doubt Clark has the value and everyone else is too fringe or too old.

For that reason I doubt curnow is getting here.

He has but he hasn't signed it which you wouldn't do as a fringe guy unless another club has matched that offer.

They already have Flanders on their wish list
It's a 30 year old ruckman who is replaced already and it's Kolo I was discussing not SDK.
