If we are indeed calling their bluff then yeah I like it.

But what it does is leaves us with the same squad we had this year, and its not enough
And pick 13.

Carlton will crumble though, you watch, just before 5pm this evening.

The way we've gone about this negotiation is very empowering.

I feel like we've called the shots and are not getting pushed around.

If we don't get Gibbs the club has failed and Roo has failed.
If Carlton are stubborn and demand ridiculous overs we can pay it or walk away.

We can't force them to take less, walking away is the better outcome in that situation.

If he costs us 13 I'm fine by that but if we hang onto it then we are further away from a flag than we were this year.

If we don't get Gibbs it means we're not going to screw ourselves and help our competitors at the same time.

Its easy to overpay, anyone without any intelligence can do that.

Its harder to draw a line in the sand and walk away when the asking price is too much.

He knows nothing as a fact. Everything he posts is nonsense.

Play the ball and not the man. It's obvious that was an opinion statement.

It would be a fail because we have brought in no one when we need a midfielder or 2.

It looks like we have put all our eggs in the one basket.

We don't know this yet. Wait until 1:30pm tomorrow.

Yes. Doesn't look like we had any plan until Gibbs nominated us. If we did we should have moved on from Gibbs the moment they wanted Lever + 13 or two 1st round picks and gone to what we originally had planned.

The fact we haven't either shows they didn't have anyone willing to come over, or they had the mistaken belief that "natural progression" was enough to win a premiership.

This is the kind of thinking that always occurs on this board, though. There is this prevailing mentality that the club is thinking and focusing on exactly what we are.

Just because we (the posters on this forum) have spent the week thinking about Gibbs and nothing more, doesn't mean that's what our list manager has been doing.
