There's probably only a small handful of players in the league for whom it would be worth trading away early picks and thus effectively sitting out that year's draft in order to get them to your club. Josh Carr ain't one (), neither is Mitch Clark ))... but IMO Brendon Goddard is. But I don't reckon 16, 20, 38 + a decent player that we would be prepared to let go (ie someone like Ibbo) would get it done. Goddard's worth is higher than that.

Not to us it isn't . But that's only my opinion. We need to draft a lot of replacments to fill the gaps that are going to emerge when a few of our champions retire in a couple of years or so. We also have weakness in our midfield and backline that also need to be filled. Goddard can only play in one position at a time.
A guy like Goddard you need to be lucky enough to get in the draft, or you need to be given priority picks or generous concessions that GWS have been given. I am now dreading what I might here at 11 o'clock tomorrow.

We won't have better picks next year to trade for Goddard. If we were going to make a play for him it'd have to be this year with 16 & 20. If we have a higher pick than 16 next year something went wrong with the season.

Goddard would immediately become the best player on our list if we signed him. Ill take the gauranteed 4-5 years of elite success over two late first rou d draft picks, a late second and an average player every day of the week.
