How can Richmond be a 10 goal better side than us?

All I can say is, thatnk god this season is finally finished.

They are a 10 goal better side than us because they have a midfield that can win the clearances, exit them with speed and occasionally hit a target. Alas we cannot win a clearance, lack speed and can never hit a target

Worst season ever. Thank god we don't have to watch them dish up that shit for another 6 months.

Yes, unfortunately this is correct. Furthermore, when they didn't have the ball they had the tank to chase and get into position to chop us off and make us cough it up. In contrast when Richmond carried the ball from defence to up forward we were just spectators.

Tackling was another area where they killed us, fortunately this is one area where we can actually improve in the off season. The thing that annoyed me the most was how Richmond could put a player like Deledio up forward who took a fair number of vertical leap grabs. They have options. We don't have any players like that, it's sad to say but we've recruited too many players over the years without the required attributes. Hopefully with some vision and good heads at the club we can now start getting some better players with real natural ability, skills and attributes.

Re: Good riddance.

I know how you guys feel. Both our clubs have had shocking years and I don't think I've ever seen two sides play such bad football. Let's all hope for a better 2009!

IMO last year was worse. At least this year we had the epic wins over Freo and Brisbane and the emergence of plenty of young players.

Thank god West Ham romped Blackburn for me last night, otherwise this would be a shitty birthday.

Re: Good riddance.

Deledio was a number one draft pick.
So what? Do only #1 draft picks have a good leap?

My point is that they had the option in the first place regardless of where they picked him. We don't seem to have picked players with enough versatility like that over the years. I understand we haven't had the #1 picks but you don't necessarily need first pick to get versatile players. Deledio spends most time around the middle and can play back to help out or forward as an option so he is generally a mid type player. His vertical leap on display today was fantastic. How many players do we have with that kind of attribute who can take grabs like that and run around the park? Maybe some of our youngsters could be similar as they come out of their shell a bit in the next few years and show what they have but I still think we need to recruit better.

Last year was worse because we expected to be good. At least this year we knew we'd be shit. Maybe not so shit...

Yeah, I wasn't expecting us to be this bad. However we have had horrific luck with injuries, but even so, it has been dissapointing.

Onwards to the draft.....and the Premier League

all well as bleak as this year has been we just have to focus on the positives...whenever ur feeling like shit about Melbourne think of Brad Miller taking a mark in the sqaure and win us the game against Brisbane or us coming from 52 points down to beat Freo as well as the emergance of our young guys all we can do is focus on the few positives and hope like crazy next year will be a whole lot better

Want to cheer yourself up, try and make your self a best 22, it's damn hard, despite how rubbish the team has been this year we still have some damn good prospects, and who knows where we will be in 12 months. The 6 debutants (I won't count Weetra) - Morton, Wona, Valenti, Martin, Maric and Grimes look very good players and probably besides Valenti showed a massive amount of improvement through the year, and with a preseason will improve even more. The tall defenders are a luxury we haven't had for god knows how long, big PJ and Jamar showed that they are half decent and if we can have Brock, Rivers and Robbo back we improve instantly.

FB: Whelan Martin Garland
HB: CJ Warnock Rivers
LEFT OUT: Bell, Bartram, Petterd, Frawley

Foll:Jamar Bruce Dunn
C: Green McLean Morton
LEFT OUT: PJ, Moloney, Jones, McDonald, Buckley, Wheatley, Valenti, Grimes

HF: Sylvia Bate Davey
FF: Wona Robertson Miller
LEFT OUT: Maric, Newton

I'm bloody pissed off now, but come Feb next year I'll be pumped for the nab cup.

Fair go dude. We've been rebuilding now for, what, 20 years? Sooner or later we're bound to improve. A bit of credit where it's due. We're not the only ones who gave you guys a touch up this year... Just hang in there and get some good young kids in the draft and thing can turn soon.:thumbsu:

Hahaha, you're also not a top 8 side, and our 100 point losses have come from Geelong, Hawthorn and the dogs, and we've been smacked on our trips to AAMI (nothing new) so as far as it goes this would probably be our worst loss of the year.

dosent take long to turn around guys
a few good kids at melbourne and a few more next year with this draft
we beat you by 13 goals but you guys were giving us pastings what 2 years ago? footy changes quickly trust me richmond fans know it better than any
we were right near the top of the ladder in Terrys first year untill we met you guys browny broke his leg you blokes smashed us and we didnt even make the 8.

You have a good coach
You have some good kids
It can only get better from here

All the best dees

I went, then lost interest when they said nothing was going to happen until 6.15.

I almost did the same thing, but then I discovered the break dancing tent. It was pretty interesting actually. That little ranga and his brother were doing a good job. Before you knew it, my balls had frozen and it was 6:15pm.

Connolly was the MC. We heard from Stynes and Schwab. Stynes announced that we broke the $3 million barrier today, which got a huge roar. Connolly then introduced us to Grimes, Wonaeamirri and Miller, who all had a quick chat. He then welcomed the three retirees; Holland, Yze and White.

White spoke well. He told us how he had been drafted by Schwab at Fremantle, recruited by Schwab at Melbourne, and now he is leaving the club just as Schwab is returning. He also said that even if he does play elsewhere next season, he is still red and blue.

Holland was brief, but spoke well. Yze was last on, but didn't really seem to like the spotlight. He seemed more disappointed than the others. They showed a highlight reel for both Yze and White. Both of them got standing ovations, which was great to see.

They also showed footage of the 150 Dinner and a highlight package of all our young players. Connolly and Bailey both spoke about our young players, and how we are developing a good base. All in all, it was a decent little event for free, and I'm glad I stayed.

Gotta say it was Warnocks best game!! Well done to him, held Richo down... This kid is really maturing in to a solid full back...

For a bit of comedy, check out the Adelaide board. They thought that 4th spot was wrapped up. Then you can slowly see them begin to shit themselves when the Saints started kicking away. They are absolutely filthy on the Bombers. :D
