Holy shit, I really like Paddles' head as a small logo on the lions apparel but that looks ****ing ridiculous!

I thought that the head was a lot smaller than that, on the mock up I saw. I actually preferred it to what they settled on, if only because it was less obtrusive.

The Academy jersey looks like David Hasselhoff taking a drunk selfie.

Just digging through old e-mails, the jumper announcement was on Friday the 13th of November 2009. Friday the 13th indeed. Also found this kick in the groin that someone posted a while back.

Thanks for the email. Appreciate the comments. Unfortunate that you are not a member, there are many other types of non attendance memberships that people can obtain. Your comments would be more compelling if you were a member.

Now to start the "Bring Back Oba" campaign...

The guy who tipped me off about the jumper didn't get a good look at it, so he was going off glimpses. I remember the salient details being "it's a lot more blue and the Lion has a goddamn cartoon face"

The mockup posted above is one I did up based on piecing together tidbits.

Supported it, but in saying that, to me it was evident in the manner of their comments they were forced into supporting the change at the clubs behest.

Yikes! Makes me almost thankful for what we had the last 5 years when we almost could have ended up with that!



Only a small number of decent memories we have in the infamous Paddle Pop jumper. Last ever NAB Cup victory, the 'Miracle on Grass', whole bunch of QClash wins...pretty much it. We did pretty well against Geelong it I guess...maybe in 50 years time, when we've done the Bears/Fitzroy jumpers to death we bring it back as a heritage jumper against Geelong

Thank god it's gone. In 5 years it only brought us a high of 12th on the ladder. In fact out of our 107 games in the last 5 years, we've only won 37 and we've lost 70! Only 3 more games with it. Let's blow this popsicle stand folks!

I could be wrong, and I could be slow (and I could have a collection of other deficiencies of course).... but saw on TV when one of our guys marked - think it was the Jono mark in the last quarter. The PP Lion's back leg or tail was actually slightly 'cut off' at the side panel because the entire back is red whereas the front has the blue lower. So the entire stupid design is so big it doesn't actually even fit on the current jumper.

I've only just really noticed that. How crazy has this all been. Thank goodness its going going and nearly gorn.

Sadly you can't rubbish a decision that your current employer made, I always thought it was worng making them talk about the jumper they way they did, they might have liked it, but its really not fair on them having to comment the way they were made to as you can't say I hate it when they put food on the table.

At the 2013 AGM the members were given the opportunity to vote on which jumper they would like to see from 2015 onwards, and the Premiership lion won in (presumably) very comfortably:

From what I've seen/heard, the jumper will simply be replaced by the one we wore up to 2009. I assume there will be subtle changes to the 2009 jumper due to the change in manufacturer. This commemorative jumper from last year is probably what we can expect:

They changed the jumper and told all the players they had to smile in all photos. Think the smiling thing only lasted a few weeks.

That's not quite true.

I'm reliably informed by sources close to the Lions that Vossy's kid's designed it in the back seat when Polks was dropping them off to school one morning. The original crayon blueprints were actually quite decent. That was until Polks accidently dropped them under the mower later that afternoon.

The rest, as they say, is history.
