how do you become a mod? lol
not trying to throw my name in for selection or anything coz i think the mods we have are doing a great job just curious to know what the process is, or if there is any process and how it all works?

Fact is to be a mod you have to be too busy to moderate.

Mate in all fairness to them i think their doin a pritty good job. I admit this thread has gone on to long but to many people (MYSELF INCLUDED) have been either giving advice or giving smart ass remarks. I joined this forum in 2006 and the mods have cleaned it up a sh1t load since then. Dunno if you were on here back then but it was pritty much a free for all. There were 10000 Rate my team threads and 200000 help me threads. This thread may have gone through to the keeper but as a general thing the mods have cleaned the site up ALOT!

The only reason to do that is to say that you used the dual position feature... If he doesn't want to stuff around with that he can just upgrade Ziebell to the DP and the mid to the gun mid...

The 2nd half is but he should make one of his midfielders a DP premium. Makes getting a 0 less likely.

C'mon mods this is a joke.

You can't just make the mods people that aren't even on the forum.

There are some posters that are on here every day but are not mods.

The powers that be need to pull their fingers out and get some real moderation in here.

If 54Dogs and Tarquin are too busy/ on holiday / don't care make somebody else a mod.

My Ruck Division is Ruined!

I admittedly didn't have that good of a ruck division to begin with but With both Seaby and Ottens out for a few months and Warnock being dropped, my ruck setup is now non-existent.

Please help. Anyone else in this dilemma? What are you doing?

Both need to go tbh. If you have the cash i would go one to Hille (who looks to be getting better every week in real life footy, not just in dt) and the other to a premium.

Rotten luck both going down in the same week.

No bad luck involved here.

By picking this combination you were always looking to cop some zero's. Ottens one of the most undurable players ever. Seaby also struggled to string games together in his career.

To pick 2 cheap rucks who are undurable was a stupid decision.

How can I fix this team? I need some serious help if people wouldn't mind critiquing it. Cheers.

R: Sandilands, Tippett, Warnock, Skipper
F: Brennan, Sylvia, Mayne, Ziebell, Gray, Garlett, Hitchcock, Rohan

I have 85k in the bank.

Firstly, you are missing a forward, there should be 9, but I assume you just forgot someone. That omission aside, I think you are a bit light on in the forwards, and should be looking at bringing in at least one big gun who can get you big scores. Someone like O'Keefe, Brown, Pavlich, S Johnson. Brown will be very affordable after this week, and I would suggest upgrading one of Mayne, Ziebell or Garlett to him.

You also need to address the mids, it's a similar problem to the forwards where you are carrying too many mid range scorers. Bartel, Green and Barlow are the only ones who are delivering quality points leaving you one gun short at this point. McKenzie & Martin's omissions mean you copped a zero last week, but you'd think at least one of them will return this week to give you some cover.

I'd be wanting to dump Tippett too, but I think you may have to stick with him for the time being.

Your backs look good with Gram coming back in this week (probably), and although the time is near to upgrade Ladson/Hunt you'll probably need to address other issues first.

If I were you I would probably go:

Hitchcock -> J Grant (if named)
McKenzie -> Gibbs

or, if you'd prefer keeping McKenzie

Hitchcock -> J Grant
Martin -> B Reilly/J McVeigh

Then the following week you'll need to cash in someone, probably Silvagni, to upgrade one of your mid range forwards as mentioned above.

My opinion, hope it helps. Trust your gut.

DWD, not everyone on Bigfooty has been playing DT for years and spending every waking moment on forums like these to get the biggest edge in the game.

Ease up, there is no need to be so pointed. It was more than likely an uninformed decision rather than a stupid one.

The criteria for who should be a mod goes way beyond just who has the most free time. There is a hole heap of things it comes down to.
Not sure if you have been here the last few years but compared to 2years ago this board is fantastic now compared to what it used to be. Of course there are going to be little spot fires, but these are much smaller and less of a distraction then what used to occur. If you look there is quality discussion in every thread, I remember the days where there would only be a few pages in the AFL Dreamteam 2008 thread that would be worth looking through and the rest was utter rubbish.

If you are so concerned about the moderating how about sending them a PM instead of filling threads with this sort of crap. I have noticed that if you hit the report post it make the matter resolve a lot quicker

whats the quickest way to work out someones break even for next week if predicting there score for this week. is there a way to do it in Genie.
eg. simpson has a break even of 131, say i predict him to score 90 this week against the saints.. how can i work out his break even for next week.

I do admit that I'm not the best poster here but I do like to contribute.

When Tarquin accepted the mod job he did so in good faith and well knowing it was an unpaid position.

To come in and whinge about doing it for free is very poor form.

I moderate an internet forum somewhere and I can tell you it's not for the faint of heart that don't want to put the work in.

I think hanging around and being online is a big part of a moderation role.

You need to encourage posters when they are doing the right things and scold them when they are doing the wrong thing, set a good example and build relationships so they can see who their mods are and how they are working to make the place better.

Spot on. This is by far and away the best/quickest/easiest way to get an issue resolved.
