Yep but people never actually look at the opposition players stats. Like even McCartin was amazing tonight even with Curnow kicking 2.Those complaining about Hamling having little impact on the stats sheet are missing the whole point of his role. He was tasked with curbing Weitering’s usual influence and he did that. Kicking a goal was a big bonus
It was something that's for surePistol with the greatest point in VFL/AFL history.
From all games please. Guy was a good footballer, but a hopeless analyst.I would pay thousands to have Leigh Montagna removed from Swans games

The defensive tagging forward. An underrated role. Those complaining about Hamling having little impact on the stats sheet are missing the whole point of his role. He was tasked with curbing Weitering’s usual influence and he did that. Kicking a goal was a big bonus
These stupid brainfart suspensions are costing us badly this season. There is playing 'on the edge', and playing over the edge' - much like a lot of the stupid frees we give away at times. Corey Warner was a good example in second half - two completely needless, silly frees in a row. Led to a kick for goal (can't remember if it was a miss or a goal) - but completely avoidable with a little more care. The revolving door at selection for the forwards certainly not making it easy to get any cohesion. Amartey was just stupid will easily be 3.
Don't know how you bring McLean back either stating he needs to find form....then he goes on to play poorly (albiet impossible as a forward in the VFL)...and surely you can't go back to the 3 rucks anyway, that clearly hasn't worked when tried.
Hamling probably going to have to go back as well now, surely.
In fairness to Cox it's been next to impossible for him to get a functioning forward line, can't even get one that plays together week to week.
People on here keep telling me there's no point saying anything publicly because it only will result in a fine yet now we are applauding it when the opposition does it.Good on Voss for having a melt over the out-on-the-full decision that led to Heeney’s goal.
He knows he’ll cop a fine for it - but sometimes the melt is still worth it.
Ladhams!McInerney and Amarty our for a few weeks each, Francis at least next week. We're cooked for a bit. Dos in the seconds, then who else do we have?
Florent should never have been sub. Was one of the main reasons we struggled to get numbers to the ball. That part of the game swung a bit when he came on.Needed that win, all things considered we pushed through. Considering we had nothing of a forward line it was immense. Heens, Chad and Grundy were epic and the sub of Florent worked very well.
Bit of an aside but it would be nice to see Adam out there one night presenting the Goodes-O'Loughlin medal.
Obviously he has understandably removed himself from the AFL landscape, but returning to present the medal, in a welcoming environment, would be pleasing to see, particularly as the red and blue colours of the Medal are based on our first Marn Grook guernsey, which was designed by Adam's mother, Lisa Sansbury.
Here's hoping one day he will feel the time is right.
You could tell there was a bit of complacency from a lot of the players so it was definitely the right call. Pressure was so much higher at one point in the 4th we had a pressure rating of 217. Thats Bloods footballFlorent should never have been sub. Was one of the main reasons we struggled to get numbers to the ball. That part of the game swung a bit when he came on.
In Cox's presser he gave the impression he made that call to send a message and put the playing group on notice even if it means the removal of an established player. Which I don't mind that call for that particular purpose. Don't think it was a tactical thing. So yeah the sub worked because we needed him, not because he'd be a good sub going forward.

McLean, Ladhams, the rest smalls. Campbell back to the wing to replace Jmac, who I assume gets a week as well, leaves probably Hannity and Cleary to apply small forward pressure. Hamling and Hayward to mill about and be ineffective for 90% of the timeTrying not to get too excited by the win as there are still some significant issues that I would argue we still refuse to address including the inability for our players to make a simple decision of choosing a pair of boots that allows them to carry out their job successfully. Heeney and Warner are just a class above.
I do wonder, with Amartey likely out and Francis missing a week with concussion, do we play Melbourne with a small forward line in the hope our mids lower their eyes for once, rather than kick long directly to a floating Gawn like we tend to do?
100% the right call for the purpose. Hopefully sparks him to stay focused. You could tell there was a bit of complacency from a lot of the players so it was definitely the right call. Pressure was so much higher at one point in the 4th we had a pressure rating of 217. Thats Bloods football
Hope he swaps Florent and Lloyd next week100% the right call for the purpose. Hopefully sparks him to stay focused.
But I think Cox very well knew not starting florent was a risk to the result (hence making him sub instead of dropping). Just a thought for those who think it was a good tactical move for this actual game. I highly doubt that was his intention, just so happened it was always going to work out tactically regardless when you bring on a player of his ability.
