The worst thing is, when the Kiwis score, I actually thought that something would happen that would gift the Italians a goal.

Clearly I'm cynical and jaded, but jesus it's hard not to be when bullshit decisions constantly favour the big sides.

The Kiwis need to get their heads back on the game though, they're leading the Italians control the game and are going to suffer for it.

Big difference, what's Smeltz supposed to do, go up to the linesman and politely tell him he was offside and to raise his flag?

It wasn't Smeltz fault that the linesman made a wrong call, but it WAS De Rossi's fault that there was a penalty awarded because he took a dive, simple as that.

Just saying had the shoe been on the other foot and NZ 'won' the penalty like that, people wouldn't be so up in arms about it. Evidenced when the ref made an incorrect offside call, everyone was too busy with 'LOL Italy'. The refereeing standard in this WC has been poor, no doubt about it. Not saying what De Rossi did was right, but neither was the NZ player that stopped him getting a free run at the header at the back post by tugging on his shirt.

Sadly, TAB doesn't give New Zealand much of a chance tonight.
According to the TAB, Richmond (when playing poorly) has a better chance of beating Geelong (near their best), then New Zealand does of beating Italy.
