Hey guys, I was just wondering what you guys think that the hardest position is on the soccer field (apart from goalie)

If anybody says any sort of position along the defensive line(especially centre halves then they've either never played the game or are just shit at it and play defense.

Striker purely for the fact they have to deal with these useless hacks for 90 minutes.

For a serious answer now. I would say in the professional game, LB/RB are the hardest. You are relied on the both be an attacker and defender. Constant running and if you give the ball away you make it very easy for the other to attack down you wing.

Central midfielders I would say as they have to do much of the attacking and defending. The strikers have it pretty hard aswell as nearly all defenders love to lump it forward which most of us hate (being a striker myself).

It depends on the team as well for example glen johnson; he has to attack a lot given liverpool's lack of creative players and at the same time defend. Where as for chelsea ivanovic doesn't have to be a focal point going forward.

Attacking midfielder behind a lone striker quite clearly IMO.

You have to be able to play with your back to goal, play running towards the goal. Also the task of linking up what are usually two more defensively oriented midfielders lacking in creativity with the striker.

To do the role properly you have to be a complete player.

playmaker/#10. for a lot of teams if said player isn't playing well and/or injured they have nothing. you're expected to create basically everything and have all the responsibility heaped on you.

plus, you're also going to get lumps kicked out of you all game and be a target for shitkicking thugs like Shawcross and de Jong.

I started playing futsal this year and I now goalkeep for a half. I thought it would be a piece of piss.

Hardly.

You have to be incredibly agile to do it. I've only just started learning to get down to the floor to make saves instead of just using my feet.

You can also see things more clearly when the opposition have the ball which is incredibly frustrating when your teammates aren't defending the way they should.

I used to play outfield soccer growing up and was a striker and found it pretty difficult, mainly because of offside and putting up with defenders' antics.

Never actually played proper football myself, only some indoor stuff in a shocking standard of competition. I would guess playing as a lone striker would be a pretty tough gig.

Traditionally, striker would be the hardest position.

Not to be confused with most important position on the pitch.

Playing winger in a 3-5-2 formation is probably the hardest I've had fitness wise, just running up and down the side of the field all day.

I think central midfield is the hardest to master, you have to be in the game all day and be able to go back, go forward and control the middle of the park, distribution has to be pretty spot on etc.

This season my side had an aweful central midfield, you cant make up for it really. Every time they would let the opposition through, and then us in defence would be swamped. Playing defense without a good central midfield is alot harder.

I play fullback or sweeper usually, although if i had more skill i'd be more suited to the wing. Im a bit short for defense, struggle in the air, although I go a bit better in sweeper where i can just order people around and chase down anything that gets through, thanks to the fitness.

Everyone knows the worst players get put to fullback and goalkeeper.

The big lumps play CB.

The runners get put in midfield.

And the talented players go up front and score goals.

So obviously striker is the toughest position + they get paid the real money. :)

Guys nothing compares with box-box midfielders.

all these positions are easiest to play, DM, Fullbacks, wingers

No guesses as to where you play.

Being a winger (a good one) is the hardest. But as has been said, it all depends on the system your team plays.

Actually I prefer playing Left wing if it was up to me, but due to pace and lack of quality strikers seem to get lumped up front.

Playing as wing back (3-5-2) is the hardest running wise.

Can't believe DM has been mentioned. DM's make me sick, manager basically looks at his squad and looks for the bloke most likely to break the oppositions leg and puts him in there. There one and only talent.

There's also the adverse arguments - if strikers **** up the worst that happens is they don't score a goal.

If a defender ****s up the other team will probably score a goal.

Personally... I think anywhere in the central midfield is quite hard. Whenever I played there during the season just gone I always found myself short of breath and my positioning suspect.

By way of comparison, every other position accross the park was somewhat easier. If I had to give a second hardest position, I would suggest fullback, especially when your team is playing with a narrow system.

It's always easier to negate than create though, which is why it's naturally tougher to play in an attacking position.
