Hawks after thornton... again !

interesting link that hawks are after thornton in a swap for boyle.. personally i think we need thornton wayy more than boyle, our forward structure is not as weak comapred to our backline.. thoughts ?

I kinda agree. I don't know tons about Boyle, but I would have thought Fevola, Fisher, Waite and a rotating ruckman was enough height up forward. Kennedy too, I guess, if he stays. The backline has been the weakness, I'm not sure I'm big on sending Thornton away unless we're getting something we REALLY need in return.

This must be to replace Joel Smith. Thornton is pretty creative at half-back and at the same time can be relied on to keep his opponent quiet.

Not a chance we'd trade him for Boyle. There'll be other takers for Boyle, but we won't be one of them.

I actually don't disagree with this. If the guy doesn't want to be at the club we may as well ship him. If it's the Hawks coming after thornton though then that is a different story.

I agree whole heartedly. I'd be furious if any trade involving Thornton went through, especially for a player like Boyle.

In a way it's good the whole Judd thing drags out so Carlton have no time to get this one done.

Gee, Thornton is only 23. I thought he was older than that.

I'd want a decent amount in return for a 23yo (relatively) tall defender. Thornton will look better and better the more help he gets down back, and upfield through midfield pressure.

I have no particular desire at all to get Boyle, unless he's something special I don't know about.
