Liked: Game style, energy, development of players (Newcombe, Lewis, Reeves, Moore, CJ, Nash in particular)

Learnt: Sicily will be the next Hawthorn captain, and a very good one at that. And Newcombe might be the next one after him.

Hated: the midfield (except for Newcombe). It stinks and while we have seen unexpected development around the ground, we won’t challenge until we get elite talent in the midfield.

Liked

Mitchell playing the media like a fiddle and giving us hope. It's like he is us. Sick of the boring game plan and plodder midfield. (Inc. his off season list management)
Newk showing he could be A grade
Lewis showing he could be A grade
Sis showing he is A grade
Ned showing he could be a real ruck.
Rookies showing something straight up.

Learned

Boring footy is always on the coach.
Our midfield still looks 2 preseason/off seasons away from being
anywhere near A grade.

Hated

Concussion injuries
Having to play rovers and full forwards in the ruck.
Brockmans injuries

Liked - Developing young players through the AFL it seems like a decade since we last really did that, conversion of i50's, a more free flowing game, not the sideways, bomb it long to no one trash that was happening in the last few seasons, faith being given to the likes of Lewis and many others i could mention instead of bringing rubbish mercenaries to fill the gaps

Learned - we are having some issues getting over the line atm, but this team is developing nicely and theres some star potential in our u23 group which is exciting for the future, Sicily has matured and could be our next captain? Newcombe was a diamond in the rough, he has improved so much in his 2nd year after his massive improvement last year to get drafted, exciting times for him and us, also im starting to learn to trust Sam Mitchell and his staff, they are doing a great job so far, recruiting/game plan/personality/handling media ect all on point, he is an impressive man off the field as much as he was on it.

Hated - Worpels season, losing to Essendon without a fight(that still pisses me off tbh, if you lose to essendon at least show some fight), some of our lapses of effort where we allow 7+ goals in a quarter and we lose by a goal or something.

Liked :

Mitchell's positive game plan and not just using damage control.
Sicily's return from the ACL
Playing 10 sub 50 games players most weeks
Mitch Lews and Jai

Learned :
Despite some positive signs early Will Day is going to take a long time to reach the ceiling I think he has.
Doesn't matter how reasonable your backs and forwards are you will not come close to playing finals when you have a midfield that's poor.

Hated:
The fact it feels like we haven't played bad footy but have only won 2 of our last 11 games.

Great, highly watchable gamestyle
Scoring 100+ a lot more regularly
Significant improvement from the likes of Lewis and Jai
Promising signs from other kids such as Reeves, McDonald, Ward, etc
Being in winning positions in games more often than not.

Learned

Competition is as diluted as ever. Top teams in 2022 wouldn’t come close to previous dynasties. It shows that a few key moves with player movement and emergence of the right kids, rise up the ladder can be a lot faster than it used to be.

Hated

Despite all positivity, we’ve only won 1 more game than same time last year.
Lack of on field leadership when the chips are down.
Laying down late in games when it all gets too much.
Will Day not having the breakout year we all thought (injury related)
