Hawthorn cannot and will not get the Wooden Spoon

Just some helpful hints for anyone doing pre-season predictions in the next day or two. Please, whatever you do, scrap the idea that Hawthorn will finish at the bottom of the ladder. It just won't happen.

Look at our start: Fremantle, Collingwood, Geelong, Carlton, Essendon. If all goes right, we'll enough games just in this bunch than other teams will win for the whole season.

Hodge, Mitchell, Crawford, Bateman, Everitt, Williams, Brown, Lewis, Franklin, Roughead. This list of players shows that we may not have the greatest depth, but certainly enough class to win our share of games.

You look past the holes of inexperience, and realise that Hawthorn has some supreme talent rising on up this year. Your team will be scared when they play us, as it's always an upset in the making.

8 or 9 wins will be enough. Hawthorn cannot possibly win the spoon.

Having the worst list (which I agree with BTW) won't neccesarrily mean finishing last. I wonder if Hawthorn has a 'losing' culture in place down there.
I honestly think they won't make it out of the bottom 4, although they probably will finish ahead of Carlton.
Time will tell I suppose.

IMO, Fremantle, Carlton and possibly Essendon/Collingwood. I noticed Inside Football are tipping us this weekend (hasn't happened for years )

Hawthorn can "win" the spoon

Freo - If they are going to be a contender this year they need to get off to a good start, henceforth id pick Freo

Pies - Didak will be playing = pies beat Hawthorn

Geelong - Huge upset if hawks could beat the catters

Carlton - genuine chance

Essendon - Hawks seem to be getting closer to the dons these days, this game will be the hawks GF and they will get over the line & then brag about it all season!!

Didak doesn't = Collingwood

Didak just turns it on against Hawthorn, pencil in another 4goal game from Didak in rnd2!!

I would've thought the only people not coming into this thread would be Carlton supporters. But it appears that today is opposite day.

Seriously, Hawthorn have about 10 players that are all better than Carlton's top 3. Both teams have ordinary depth, but at least Hawthorn has enough talent to win a bunch of games.

There is no way in the world the spoon will go to Hawthorn unless someone nuke's Waverley on a training day.

you should win those games and have a good chance against freo down at york, if memory serves me correctly i think you have a good record against them.

I'm very confident we won't win' the spoon this year, but i can see why opposition fans would have us pencilled in at the @rse end of the ladder.

Personally, I think we'll finish in the 10-12 bracket, but there is no other team, bar Carlton, who you could say were definately bottom-2. I can fully understand others pencilling us in for 15th or thereabouts, as it is a pretty even spread this year, and no-one else jumps out as an obvious cellar-dwellar, but i still think we'll surprise slightly.

My guess would be that we'll start reasonably well, then die in the @rse the 2nd half of the season, as the young legs run out of steam (again ).
