May be time to give big Hale a rest....he was seen limping to his car at Waverley today.

Out: Hale Murphy
In : Bailey Goo

If they decide to play Hodge also

Out: Cheney
In : Hodge

I'm struggling to see who makes way for Franklin.......thats not at the expense of run.

But thats the thing with Buddy you aint going to lose run if he comes in. In fact the opposite

Hurley most likely not play and Crameri is in doubt with a hammy. Could be a game where we have Schoey up forward and play with Gibbo and Stratts as the key defensive posts.

Essendon's biggest weapon is run an spread - when they click they look a million bucks and score really quickly. If we pressure their midfield and make them resort to bombing it in to a ruckman it could work out well.

Agree. Stop their run and they are a really really average side. Stop Watson and you stop the most of their run as he is pivotal i getting the ball out to the runners. I think Hocking might be back, and he plays this role well too.

If we come with the intensity we came out with last week, you can bank the 4 points now, if we don't, then we will have our work cut out for us.

I was at the St Kilda/Essendon game a couple of weeks back and the way the Saints got on top was how they shut down the middle of the ground and then on the counter-attack they went wide where all the space was.

The Saints also, like you've suggested, put copious amounts of pressure on the Dons mids and made sure that if they didn't win the ball, the Essendon mids were under severe pressure. This made Essendon's midfield look average at best. Combine that with a forward line weaker than their VFL sides and you're a great chance of winning.

Who do you think will tag Fletcher? Could we give that role to Lewis again, or will Lewis go with one of Watson or Stanton? I remember a few years ago Muston did a defense lock down job on him and did quite well, kick 3 goals. If Murphy was to retain his spot in the team this week could he get the job on Fletcher?

Hurley won't play.

Hurley won't play.

Heard on AFL:360 that Hurley & 2 others (forget who) were doing a walk from some pub to the 'G to raise money for cancer. No way he walks a few k's for charity a few hours before the game.

With Pears, Carlisle & Hooker I'd imagine Fletcher loose will be the Bomber's plan.

The game's won if they go in with those four down back. Would love to see Hooker try and chase Rioli around forward 50 and Fletcher try to get easy kicks and pay Breust no respect. It will be goals galore.

how do you figure that? 16 posessions inclusive of 6 turn-overs, the majority of which he was under no pressure...

Didn't even see his stats to be honest, was more going by what I saw during the game. Got in the right positions, and did well enough under pressure (a few clangers in a high pressure game are excusable). I have been one of his detractors in the past, but think he has value in a strong defence. That being said, I reckon he might fly the coup for more opportunity elsewhere, and like I said, it will be unfortunate but not crushing.

Has anyone seen if Hale is fit?

Ins = Goo - Bailey
Outs = Cheney - Hale (rested / foot or leg knock)

+ Maybe Hodge for Murphy

Apparently he'll be backing up and doing a return walk to the pub after the game for depression.

You're assuming Cheney is tough. Yet to see it from the guy, but hope he brings it if he's in the team.

Cheney is tough. Go watch him at Box Hill.

Dempsey may get Rioli. Not any of the four previously mentioned.

Some funny comments over on the Bombers board - plenty of them confident of 'smashing those pretenders' and how our defence is so bad with 'Clangermakers' etc, Stanton will smash Mitchell, etc....geez I hope we give the red and black scum a hiding!

Where are the Robinson, Conolly and Ralph articles pumping up the bombers? Running scared I'm tipping :)

Robinsons Tackle column made not one mention of our win over the pies this week.

Robbo talked up Ryan Schoenmakers' job on Travis Cloke in the print version of his column. I don't know if that made his online column as I didn't read it this week.

Tbh I couldnt care less if the media continue to give us nothing, we just need to keep going about our business and picking up points, Friday night is a potential danger game, Essendon seemingly down and out can still sting us if they are allowed room to move, we cant afford to get to carried away with ourselves, the Collingwood win is in the past now, if we start well and play 4 quarters we will win, and win easily but we cant let them get there tails up as they can be tough to beat when they do

I doubt if Franklin and Hodge are seriously being considered for selection this week. In fact I would not be surprised if neither played the following week against Geelong. It is not worth the risk rushing either back into the side unless they are absolutely 100%.

Guerra should come in at the expense of either Murphy or Guerra.

If Murphy stays in the side I would be gobsmacked if he was played on Fletcher. Tom has a reasonable track record on smalls and mediums but based on past form cannot handle talls. Fletcher is faster. taller and has better judgment and skills than Tom. If we want to stop Fletcher play someone on him who can kick goals and hurt them on the scoreboard.

Based on? We might be in a rich vein of form but we haven't beaten the Cats in a very long time and we need the big bodies back for that game. We have Port and GC the two weeks after that game. Expect both Hodge and Franklin to play against the Cats.
