.....HendoMANIA!!!!

Most likely that he is a good footballer and will, barring injury, remain best 22 for a few years yet. Wouldn't mind seeing he and Hendo off our back flanks. Would cause opposition massive headaches.

Absolutely.

it will be hard for them to decide which of their unmarked forwards to kick it to. #dilemma

Both are loose unaccountable defenders who setup up the play running out of the back 50. Each has flourished playing EXACTLY the same role.

Both can't play the one role and we can't have more than one playing that role

Playing 2 loose would be a god send for the opposition

I really hope the club doesn't sacrifice Hendo's loose defender role just to let Reilly play it. As much as I liked Reilly in that role last year, Hendo is clearly more capable in it.
Sorry to disappoint but Reilly will go back to the spot he nearly became AA in and which Adelaide supporters criticized him throughout that season

Hendo's strength is the ability to play back/forward and on the wing .........think he will be that true utility without a set position and that's fine with me

The continual ability of supporters only to see the bad in Reilly's game is truly amazing & shows a lack of footy knowledge

:thumbsu: very glad to see Hendo still on our list

Hopefully he can put in a full season - playing back, forward or super-sub
Correct ......think he has done his apprentiship

25 yo & 56 games ........we'll now see his best & IMO he has another 20% potential in him, in particular his high marking which we haven't seen enough of to this stage

You really do need to stop posting your comments as fact, yes give your opinion but FFS your not part of the footy dept and your view is a matter of opinion not fact

One thing I do know is that Radar was put on notice during the end of season review and I do know that Sando has realised his errors from 2013 and will be a vastly different coach in 2014 and players like Radar won't be selected based on previous good form (2012) and he has it all in front of him to win his spot back

With this in mind I do expect Radar to do so however I also expect Hendo to be lining up on the opposite HBF as Smith will move to the midfield / Wing where he can do more damage with his touches, this was made clear to Smith at the end of season so expect a huge per-season from Brodie

Who stated otherwise........it's my opinion & I'll happily be called out if I'm wrong
Fact is you've agreed with what i've said ....so what's your issue ?

But lets not be hypocritical though as you're now presenting stuff as fact as a first hand participant .......so unless you're mates with Reilly I'm not sure you can present those conversations as fact

Loved all the inside info over last month ......Hendo gone definitely, Polec definitely to the Crows .....all by people with supposed links inside the club

I can make my last post as fact as I was told directly by someone within our coaching set up

In terms of inside info Hendo was very close to being traded as two clubs were seriously considering offering a 1st round pick and that was always the asking price or no deal.

In terms of Polec the club was very confident and are keen to understand why the backflip because all indications were and for some time that we were preferred even though he didn't go public

Finally I said from a month out that Betts was ours and called for calm when some where acting like teapots thinking that he was off to Norf, I also confirmed that we made an offer to Sylvia which I had been floating for some months

So when I post as fact it's because I hear it directly from someone with image club, otherwise I post as an opinion

Finally No I did not agree with you entirely as I don't believe that Radar's position is set in stone like you however I have every confidence that he will do what is necessary to regain Sando and Dasher's full confidence but it won't be at the expense of Hendo

So the club talked with fork tongue .......we haven't put Hendo on the trade table .....but wink wink, if you Make an offer we can't refuse.

Slice it dice whichever ......if he wasn't on the trade table .....you don't entertain offers at all ...wish we weren't treated as fools

If correct ........contract would have been on the table & agreed to b4 end of season
Would have been more difinitive .......don't agree with the clubs beliefs on that point

That stern conversation on expectations would have been had with half the list at every club .......it's more the norm than the exception

I'll predict, state an opinion if you wish ......Reilly will be back in his position start of next season
call me out if I'm wrong (injury aside)

I had the impression the reason Hendo wanted to back to Victoria was some family issue with his mum/brother, however in today's interview Noble mentioned something about Hendo's girlfriend.
Does anyone know what the issue is or is it that she just wants to move back to Victoria?

His GF packed up and moved back to Melbourne

Re his family like Boak their are some matters that keep pulling at his heart however his Mum is supportive or Ricky making the best decision for Ricky, like all Mums she would love him closer to home but moreso just wants the best for him

Riley will also need to be looking over his shoulder at CEY - no offence to Radar but I will be disappointed if he continues to hold down a spot by years end

There is room for both Reilly & Hendo in our backline as gives us more options to move the ball forward.

This doesn't mean they both play loose!

Going by Radars last ten years I'd say there's a ten per cent chance of that happening.

So there's a chance then?

I've got no issue with him playing at 2012 standards, but if he's off, i don't want him given an extended run like a lot of our poor form players got this year

Another thing the coaches need to fix for us to improve in 2014

Did the selectors see the bad in Reillys game when they dropped him?

How about over his career when he failed to make it as a midfielder and tagger? He then excelled when he didn't have an opponent but this year they manned up on him and he struggled and was eventually dropped.

As for near AA selection, yes if he remained free to roam in 2012 he would have made it, but opposition coaches woke up to that.

So there's a chance then?

I did read that Sando made a very honest appraisal of the players (and himself) and didn't hold back on saying where they'd need to improve next year which was good to see.

I still think Radar at his best can have a spot in the 22 and one of Hendersons biggest strengths is his versatility.

If Hendo was in that loose half back position for the entire year I dare say he would have been a near AA selection as well. In his final 7 games he was behind only Crouch in b&f voting.
I've been watching some replays recently, and man, his kicking is elite. It's his long kicking and ability to spot up an option not many others see that is his main strength, along with his speed. Gonna be an absolute gun for us going forward, I have no doubt about it.

I just can't see how both Henderson and Reilly fit into the same backline. Neither are strong defensively, Reilly is alright at taking an intercept mark but that's very different from actually stopping a player defensively. I don't believe we can afford to have both in our backline and when you compare the two, Henderson wins for me as he's much quicker than Reilly, attacks the play more and is also a better kick imo.

Considering what we've seen from Henderson in that final part of the year, why exactly would we now be wanting to put him in a different role when this has been by far the best and most consistent role he's played in his career to date?

Agree and quite frankly hendo has many more years to give in that role

You do realise that Reilly has spent a decade playing a number of roles, mostly in the midfield? He's far from the one trick pony his detractors would make him out to be.

Hendo on the other hand has been found wanting in all but the easiest position on the ground...
