I thought it might be a good idea to see the broad range of skills people on this board possess as well as how they put them to use. Besides just seeing the different people that make up the MFC family it might be a great chance to network - your next plumber/it developer/hairdresser etc might be found right here!

I am often on the lookout for an Electrician, web page designer, among other things. Currently I need someone who can fix a switch on a pool spa heater, can anybody help???

Job: I sold the dvd store after nearly 11 years & currently work as a chauffeur for a National Limousine Company. It is very interesting having discussions with the clients & surprisingly how many Demon members I have met... If you need a transfer to or from the airport, let me know & I will take care of it...

Again mods I am not to sure if this is against policy (advertising or some such) of the board. If it is, feel free to rip it down.

Tell us your story...

PS,I had this idea for quite a while, but didn't do anything about it, but saw it on the Geelong Board & it seems to have some merit...

Good idea for a thread, even if it is moved to the hell board.

I am a Senior Network Administrator (no I do not design websites!) for a small outsource IT company based in Richmond, so if anyone needs a new IT provider for their SME well, we're the best at our size, itro.com.au.

We regularly require airport transfers, send us the details in a pm, currently we use corporate cars, but we're not stuck on them.

I also brew beer and have hookups for kegs from a few craft breweries in Victoria if you have parties like ours ;)

Good thinking DR, I like it.

I'm still a student so not much use in terms of networking and such. I mainly work hospitality, including for Spotless at the MCG and for Peter Rowlands Major Events (Flemington, Grand Prix and others). I have also done plenty of misc hospitality jobs in my time, so if you need someone to man the bar/food for your next party, hit me up and I may be able to help out.

Very nice Idea.

I am a jack of all trades Master of none really. At the moment I'm unemployed - but for the past year I worked for telstra in a hands on Tech Support Job. IT&C (Information Technology and Communications). I recently lost my job for asking for a pay raise, (Yeah sounds like BS - but there's a heap to the story) I was on a casual contract as up here in Cairns Every bloody thing is casual, and was working for a licensed store (Franchise). Anyway - I looked into legal action but it wasn't worth it in the end. I'm originally from Melbourne, Moved up here June last year with the Mrs - and am moving back to Victoria (Greatest state in Oz) in June. I'll be more than likely picked up in the draft by Telstra Again, as I've been talking to some high ups and they seem to think I'll get another position no hassles. I Have worked as a Network Admin at Clayton North Primary School, taught I.T. and Digital photography in the USA, and also dabbled in some sales roles. I have also been a safety surface installer.

Anyone has a job for me in June - I'd be willing to look at it - otherwise I'll most likely be trying back at telstra.

I am also a student studying Civil Engineering (4th Year). If anyone has some inside connections for grad positions, vac work or just general work experience, hit me up :)

Ah, people with "real" jobs. Always impressive.

I can't help much, after spending most of my life as musician and composer, I've gradually drifted across to all things recording. I now have my own studio and mix music (CD's), and have done a lot of audio post-production for film, TV etc.

Don't know what to suggest, a limo to the airport or an IP expert is a lot more practical. On the other hand, if any of you make movies, or are in a band ...

Examples (mixes): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8eGJuVZ3oM

Good thread. Footy is about clubs, and being part of one.

I record my own stuff. Spent my fair share of years in bands, playing live gigs around melbourne.

Hey Sub, can you assist with a connection to Foxtel??? ;);)

Not relivant to you DR, unless you are interested by some investment properties in Tas but...

I am (graduate) cadastral and engineering surveyor. Handling work in the range of subdivisions, house and building set outs, boundary re-marks, council proposals and title identification surveys. On an interesting side note I am about to start work for Noel Leary who played a few games for Melbourne in the early 70's , before returning and becoming a legend of the game in Tassie. But anyway, hit me up if you need work done or know of any interesting projects which you think could be good to be involved in!

Not bad...

I'm a Software Developer and support for a national company called Sonic Healthcare that deal with Pathology and Radiology.
I work for a subsidiary of it who supply all the IT needs of the many other subsidiary companies.
I particularly work in our eHealth team which supplies services to our clients and subs such as electronic reports and results.
At the moment I'm more supporting some of the issues to our products until I come up to speed where I will then work more on Development for these specific areas.

You don't walk flip at ward park by any chance?

Psychiatric nurse, currently working on a major adult psychiatric ward in a the city. Still being relatively young, this has forced me to grow up very fast. Those of you who have known me over the past couple of years have probably noticed this.

See a a lot of messed up stuff, and dealt with a lot of truly ****ed up people. Mental illness is more prevalent than a lot of people think. I'm sure that everyone on the forum with sufficient life experience either has or knows someone that has a mental illness.

I have been punched, kicked, spat at, stabbed in the leg with a pen, had hot coffee thrown at me and been called every name under the sun.

I have been told things and seen patients do things that if some of you saw or heard you wouldn't be able to sleep for a week. Witnessing self harm or suicide attempts is a weekly occurrence for me now.

But i have also had some great times where i have seen seriously messed up people come through the door thinking they are Jesus or that aliens/police/bikies/Asio/family are trying to kill them and then walk out the door weeks later sane again.

A lot of people find it difficult to talk about mental illness especially men. But i talk about mental illness with people for a living.

So if any of you Dees supporters have problems that you find it hard to talk about, hit me up or talk to someone. i cant 'fix' you, but my be able to push you in right direction.

I have never held down a single full time 9-5 job - I'm constitutionally incapable!

My current jobs:

Music teacher (guitar, bass, piano)
Session guitarist (gun for hire, mostly independent recordings, some ads)
Website design/maintenance (manage 6 websites, nothing too fancy)
Studio recording (have my own studio for recording my own and other people's music)
Composing (written educational material, music for vocalists, my own progressive rock projects)
Gardener (help my old man once or twice a week, gets me out of the house and into the sun and fresh air)
Part-time fix it man (Every one I know gets me to fix their stuff and fix/service their car. I charge half what the "pros" do.)
Musical Instrument repairs (fix guitars)

It's a chaotic way to live but it stops me from going insane from doing the same thing every day. Every day is different. I'm not super rich, but I have my own house and I'm comfortable and satisfied with what I have.

I'm an Electrical Engineer for a consulting engineering firm. It's good to work on varied projects, from construction to events and the odd report writing.

Currently out at Albert Park setting up the Grand Prix, damn long hours at times but the event should go well.

Business Services Accountant at a small / medium sized practice.

Nothing exciting, but it pays the bills. Got some great clients and some not so great clients. Promoted to manager recently so moving up in this world...

Studied that for 2 years at uni back in the day, not my thing.

Anyway I am internal corporate accountant. So if anyone has a big company and needs all the books kept in order I am your man.

Very good way to be ando! Would love to get to that point, just starting by doing everything myself, and see how I go from there.

I am a public servant (like everyone in Canberra) at the Australian Building Codes Board. Anyone wanting to move to Canberra for a grad position I can let you know when we are taking them on.
