I think this is one of the situations when average does the talking. 27.5, or 23 if you take out his sole century against Scotland.

Dussey is clearly a quality first class cricketer, who maybe could have made it internationally given more early opportunities but the fact is he was given an extended run in the one day side in 2009 and failed. Why they would bring him back for the World Cup with only one series preparation I cannot understand.

DHussey is our Graham Hick, looks brilliant when facing mediocre bowling attacks on flat pitches, but, is made to look stupid when he has to play a decent bowling attack.
Is this why, in T20 cricket, where he has played the most of his matches for Australia, he averages 9 against Bangladesh, 12 against the West Indies and at the other end of the scale, 45 against South Africa, 35 against India, etc? And why he made by far Australia's highest score in the T20 World Cup Final a few months ago, when no-one else in our team made over 30? Those stats don't back up your argument and in fact are evidence that the opposite is true.

I never knew Graeme Hick even played t20's??

What Does Hussey's t20 record have to do with anything? This thread was made off the back of some very average ODI performances.

He has played against South Africa 4 times, the last being in March 09 and his high average is on the back of his 88* of 44balls at Joburg, the one and only time he has ever looked like an international cricketer.
He has batted against India ONCE.
So lets wait until he has played at least a few innings against these teams before we go pumping up his averages.

Hussey should in the test side not odi and t20.

D.Hussey should be in the t20 and test teams but not one day team.

My World Cup Squad
Paine (wk)
Watson
Ponting
Clarke
White
M.Hussey
D.Hussey
Hauritz
Johnson
Hastings
Bollinger

ODI team this summer:
Watson
Warner
Ponting
D.Hussey
White (C)
M.Hussey
Haddin
Lee
Mckay
Rimmington
Doherty

I realise you are trolling.

But could you please at least try to maintain a semblance of consistency and credibility?

I like David Hussey in the team for his all round ability. I think his spin is pretty good. Will be a useful player in India.

I think Hussey in a team like this would go alright.
Watson
Marsh
Ponting
White
M Hussey/Clarke
D Hussey
Haddin
Johnson
Lee
Bollinger
Doherty

Having said that I think they'll go with this
Watson
Haddin
Ponting
White
Clarke
M Hussey/ D Hussey
Smith
Johnson
Lee
Doherty
Tait/ Bollinger

The title clearly says ANY Australian side, pretty sure that includes T20s

Sadly as some has stated I think the time to pick D Hussey has past. Looks ordinary in ODIs and even more hopeless in T20s right now. Can not believe he received such a large bid in the IPL. In horrible form but then again so is our current ####en captain.

Hussey like the useless White are hopelessly out of form, neither of them or Clarke should be playing currently in any form of the game.
You mean the same Cameron White who has been Australias most consistent batsman in the first 2 matches? Yeah, terribly out of form,...

yeah the bloke who has gone 6, 0, 25, 45 and 7 in Australian colours this year, he played a slow supportive role last game, but he's woefully out of form and his dismissals have been laughable

25*, you left that bit out funnily enough...

Fact is he had 70 runs for 1 dismissal before today, hardly out of form in anyones language...

LOL.

Was dropped on 9 in the 25* - a score made in the easiest possible circumstances with the game already won and Watson on fire at the other end.

You're pretty desperate if you need to make something out of that innings.

Still failed once, done well twice, yeah thats hardly out of form...

Ok. So you're still desperate to talk up something that's, well, just not even vaguely worth talking up.

Cant do much more than an unbeaten innings, better than a run a ball that sees the side home, sure as hell not a failure like you and your mate are trying to claim

I don't recall ever saying it was a failure.

Claiming it either way is silly in the argument you're trying to have.

But, if you are so inclined, I would have thought the fact that he should have been out at 9 and played several other poor shots ... well, work it out for yourself.

He is clearly not in great form - and that innings certainly didn't do anything to change that impression.

He's in the squad so I want him to do exactly that in this match. It be so good for him to get that under his belt. He's been poor thus far this summer for Aus.

Hope that's not a mozz.

Is that why when I was simply trying to correct a very poor error you jumped in to tell us all how it was a terrible innings and doesnt help his case?

Yeah, you werent calling it a failure or anything especially those constant attempts to downgrade his score to 9...

But sorry if I was wrong in trying to point out he didnt get out in the innings because the previous poster made his stats look worse with their selective reporting

Is that why when I was simply trying to correct a very poor error you jumped in to tell us all how it was a terrible innings and doesnt help his case?

No.

Because:

(a) quite clearly (if you can actually read - or do you need help with that?), I never called it a terrible innings; and

(b) you weren't "simply trying to correct" - instead, painfully, you tried to labour the point by embellishing an innings that was meaningless.

Is that really so hard to understand?
