How impressive are Collingwood?

Based on?

Oh that's right. Based on nothing, just another flog trying to be clever.

call me whatever names you wish the fact is, Melbourne are building on a weekly basis and beginning to trouble even the best of teams. They drew with you guys a couple of times in the past before going backwards under the same bloke that came from your club.
Collingwood are probably the most ineffective of all the current top 8 teams, Cloke is nothing these days, White is a list plodder, Sidebottom is even overrated by your own fans and you have one of the worst ruck stocks going around.

Will be very fortunate to make it as high as 6th this season but we shall see what happens.

You really have no idea.

Check out the Collingwood board, in particular a game day thread. Most Collingwood supporters hang shit on Sidebottom all the time.

Cloke is nothing? Lol. He was AA in 2 of the last 3 years in case you had forgotten. He's been average this year but still tore apart St Kilda on Friday.

"Most ineffective"? What does that even mean? We've beaten some decent sides in North and Sydney - Gold Coast have fallen in 3 of their 4 big tests this year, Geelong have been torn apart by Port, Freo and Sydney, Hawthorn are looking decidedly average, Fremantle have started slowly and are currently 7th, Sydney lost to GWS and were torn apart by North. None of these teams have been flawless so far this year.

"White is a list plodder" - you're going to use one player to determine how good the entire team is? We got him for nothing.

As far as the QB draw goes, I highly doubt a game from 2010 where Collingwood kicked 9.22 is really going to have much impact on the result FOUR YEARS later. That's just entirely unrelated. I notice how you chose not to notice we've won the three QB clashes since then by a total of 213 points.

If you don't rate Collingwood, just flat out say it, don't provide bullshit reasoning.

I already gave reasons for why I don't rate them. As I said, you won't beat Essendon next time around, you got them when they were in their worst form of the season, Hawthorn game is a 50/50 but you'd have to favor Hawthorn given their mental edge over your club in recent times while Port Adelaide and West Coast at Subiaco (in 2 months time) are not easy beats either, particularly not for this current Collingwood team who nearly lost to them at the MCG in round 10.

We may be the most "ineffective " side in the top 8 but we sit in 4th place after 10 rounds. We have been top 4 in 4 of the previous 5 seasons and our list is at its fittest since 2011. We do need to beat the Hawks this year and at least one of GC at home or Port on the G which are both on the cards to finish top 4. We are "ineffectively" in the mix

Essendon are still in shit form in case you didn't notice. Let's not get carried away by one win over a truly woeful opponent. Saturday was the first time they had kicked ten goals in EIGHT weeks. That is not a joke. You can bookmark this now that they will not be winning that game. It's just as plausible to say they will beat Geelong.

As for your other reasons, you took cheap shots at three players as if that defined the overall performance of the team.

I also fail to see how you're grading the "current Collingwood team" in games that are two months away.

Just out of interest when were Ess in their best form. Which of Dogs, Tigers, Blues, Brissie or North are the prized scalp?

lmao. One of the worse posts I've seen. Absolutely everything you've said can apply to anyone in the 8. You, sir, are we like to call... a joke.

Or a troll

always the way with you guys, someone doesn't rate Collingwood and you all jump in together throwing around insults willy nilly.
Will say again, Collingwood will be lucky to finish as high as 6th.

Geelong will be lucky to make the 8. Because of blah blah * Insert horseshit reasoning here *

Jeez, that is easy, I see why you do it.

I agree that Melbourne is a danger game for us and at the start of the season I had us finishing around sixth, so I have no issue with that. But you don't care about that. You're here for a wind up, as your dodgy collection of supporter-baiting player assessments attests. And hell, that's fair enough. I like to wind people up too from time to time. But...

A "list plodder"?

If you're intent on winding up Collingwood supporters could you at least use the English language in a form that doesn't require the Rosetta Stone to decipher your musings?

Unless you're just being pioneeringly economical with your use of language and suggesting that he is both a list clogger and a plodder. Jesse White, one of the quickest players for his height in the AFL, plods... Right. Thanks for clearing that up then.

If you're suggesting that he's a list clogger, now you'll understand why you get funny looks from the plumber when your ask him to unplod your drain.

he's 26 is he not?
Was on Sydney's list for 6 seasons but could never break through. He's currently playing in a team which boasts a very solid midfield, has produced 3.5 marks (0.7 contested), 4.3 hit-outs, 1.4 goals & 0.7 assists in his nine matches so far.
All I'm saying is he's not exactly a big threat for opposing defenders, especially a player of his size. . . 100kg's and 6ft'5.

No, you said he was a list plodder. That still doesn't mean anything in English or any other language.

But we'll go with clogger given that you seem to have chosen that definition via your silence on the matter.

He's not a star or producing star-like numbers, I'll grant you that. He will never be a star. But given that our two best tall forwards are Cloke and Reid, and Elliott often plays in a leading/marking role despite his stature, he's very much a role player for us. We don't expect or need him to play as well as Cloke (admittedly out of form) or Reid can. How many sides consider their third best tall to be a gun? I'm hoping for him to build on the first half of the season and finish with 30ish goals, dependent on structural requirements and injuries which may or may not see him ruck more often
That's fine and it's what he was drafted for. It's certainly not clogging a list, preventing the development of another, younger player in that position.

By the way... A very solid midfield he should be maximising, or the most ineffective top 8 team that he's also somehow clogging, depending on which way you're trying to spin it. Having a nice each way bet there.

We have list cloggers. Armstrong, Marty and Lynch spring to mind. White ain't one of them.

And that'll do me. G'night.

Fair to say he missed your point...

Two points
1) Jesse White has massive potential and it was a tough decision to let him leave. He wanted to go back to Melbourne so Swans didn't get in his way. He does so much off the ball that rarely gets mentioned, and when cloke gets his act together he will pull a good defender off him and drag them up the field. With Reid back even better!!
2) since starting tipping this year and having to pick collingwood so often I've realised they are definitely top 4 and big headaches for every team right now. Plus the fact the swans are starting to get lots of anger towards them I'm starting to understand life as a pies supporter. I still hate Eddie but I'm no longer hating collingwood quite so much haha

Pies aren't winning anything this year. Probably finish 5th or 6th IMO. 2 top 10 picks from the last draft in the shed still with the cover on and a few young players just finding their way this year will keep Collingwood from playing in the GF and possibly making the PF. Next year should be a better year for Collingwood, particularly if they can snag a quality free agent with Thomas' vacated cap space.

Understand where you are coming from Mark but disagree with the analysis. I have heard a lot of talk of the Collingwood youngsters but dont really see it. Our 2 top 10 drafts are not really relevant to 2014 the could only ever be cameos at best and would find the team hard to break into. Don't imagine Scharenberg if fit would do any better than Langton has who he would vie for a possie with.

All teams play a few kids , we are no different. We really have 2 kids, Grundy who is built strongly and Langton who played a good bit of VFL last year and is an overager. In essence they are 2 second year players. Others like Witts, Keefe and Frost are well into their 20's and have mens bodies and preseasosn behind them. They are short on AFL games only. Seedsma Thomas Williams Fasolo etc are all 3rd year and above and are not kids.

We played kids and debutants last year. This year one debutant and the return of Ball Beams Keefe Young and Toovey fromlong term injury mean we are mature in expereince with many premiership players in the 22. This experience should cover and allow the less experienced to flourish. I don't discount the possibility of 2015 and beyond being better, I hope it is. Still the here and now counts most, the future carries too mny pitfalls to suggest this year is development. We are in the top 4 now with an experienced team and in good shape.

A bird in the hand is always worth 2 in the bush

You're that flog that went by the alias Footscore aren't you?

How ****ing embarrassing must have been that 110 point loss? It surely signals the end to the Geelong era of 'dominance'. The worse thing about this era is that you only won 3 flags and should have won at least 2 more given the amazing squad Geelong assembled. The 2008 GF choke comes to mind.

Fitting that by posting in this thread Collingwood was the last team to belt Geelong by over a ton.
