Just looking at the way Farmer carved us up on Saturday it got me thinking to how much we are missing a fit Sando or Wojo.
Looking at the way coaches are now starting to use these former one dimensional goal sneak fwd. pockets. as virtually on ball fwds. now we could be in real trouble when we come up against them.
I'd never seen Farmer play this way before, he appeared to be everywhere, one minute picking up a kick on the wing, next minute snagging a goal up forward. Apparently Milne played a similar role and i believe Daniher has Davey doing the same. Grant (more a HFF) played similarly the week before virtually being all over the ground to be the Roos best.
It appears a good move by the coaches as it adds another dimension to these player's games whereas before it was either kick goals or nothing. It also has the effect of dragging the opponent out of a possible comfort zone.
DJ while he had been o.k. doing the job down back has struggled against Grant and Farmer all over the ground. It appears opposition coaches are exploiting this type of player. Don't know what condition Sando will come back in after a long lay off in regards to match conditioning but we definately need him at somewhere near his best. Wojo would be the next option but is out for the year. Callan is the next logical option but hasn't quite stepped up as yet. Apart from those doesn't appear anyone else capable of filling that role.
This area look's a real concern and wondering whether Malthouse will try to exploit us in the same way (poss. Didak in a Grant way?).
