Blaming someone else has a use by date.
Gladys' living with Covid was chugging along until the delta arrived on our shores.
if we stop blaming then we risk forgetting. anger needs to be appropriately directed, otherwise we turn it on each other who don't have blame.

If this is a non-issue I'd like to know what an issue is, getting hit by a bus?
That's not 'getting hit by a bus'. I had bronchitis as a child and was off school for four months. It wasn't the end of the world. I was able to play competitive sports, hike in the Himilayas, etc. I am healthy and living an active life. All children will get sick at some point.

If you were in the Victorian government managing risks it is such a low risk it is negligible. There are far greater concerns and better ways to direct resources.

Kids need an education and to be outdoors, seeing friends and socialising. They need this for their own development.
There’s arguments on both sides. Covid and from a metal point of view now. And which is worse for them long term.
I would love to see scientists in Australia or experts around the world (NOT OUR CHO’s!!!) discuss this for us all and the risks involved for our kids, more so the short term and also for their futures.

Do you need someone to blame for every failure .... fair enough if you do need someone else to blame, but a more positive approach is action to get on top of the problem.

Nothing other than Dan showing some empathy. It’s fine for him to tell us he’s “shitty” or the situation is “shitty” but reality is the majority of us are still being compliant.

He's showing empathy but still has complex decisions to make. He's not going to break down and cry publicly.

Can I just say that he's showing more empathy than that psychopath pretending to run NSW. Please know that he is.

Dealing with how far the kids education has been affected post Covid*, will be with us for a generation. Whether we are to dealing with it is problematic when something like Naplan is so vigorously opposed by many teachers.

* whenever that is, whatever it looks like.

No she's not. The delta strain is significantly more virulent so it was inevitable that it would spread. NSW has also been most responsible for managing international arrivals.

The nature of the virus has changed. Policy should reflect that.

Of course she is.

Do you live under a rock?

She closed the gate 6 weeks after the horse had bolted.

How many in the USA?
According to Reuters, six days ago the number was 1,900 under 12 and rising pretty quickly. Not surprisingly, it’s worse in areas with lower adult vaccination rates - in other words the southern states.

what are you actually arguing for? you seem upset with every single possible approach

Do you think anyone in NSW will remember what happened ?

I''m all in favour of point 4 now, considering how it is spreading amongst families every where, and it seems people are ignoring the rules when they should be in ISO, taking away the main spreader may help.

dont jump on that yet

that stat is based off people who are not in ISO for the entire of their infectious period.

with people being infected by unknown source, its inevitable there will be a log.

not saying this is the reason for today, just we need details before we start hanging people

How many hospitalisations and deaths now in Israel, and how many before vaccinations?

How about in New York state?

The UK?

If you consider what is happening overseas as a failure, are you in favour of having everyone locked down for years?

Are you a public servant currently being paid to do nothing?
Comparing the alpha variant with the delta variant is an 'apples and oranges' comparison.

I never advocated lockdowns, period. Certainly not for years. The nature of the virus has changed. Government policy has not.

I cannot verify these statistics (deaths in Israel) but are reported by Google. Israel followed a similar pattern in that they had an initial outbreak and a seasonal out break during winter. The current rise is probably attributed to the delta variant but there's a lack of data to make a conclusive assumption.

Point 4 likely only works when you have a manageable level of active cases. Victoria’s 349 might even be pushing it but for NSW, they have 9,000 active cases. No chance.

UK and New York are similar. The deaths are significantly down, but the cases are still quite high.

At some point it will have to be accepted, just like we accept 1,500 vehicle deaths per year, tens of thousands of deaths due to alcohol and cigarettes a year, etc.

I was arguing originally that we should be opening up at 80% vax of the adult population once everyone has had the chance to be vaccinated..
But I’d like to know more details about kids and risks there.
I don’t see why that’s an issue?
