Indeed! There was a picture on the front of this morning's age of the train being waved at just north of Alice Springs! The scenery looked exactly like last week's NASA picture of Mars.

I was thinking specifically of a long weekend in mid-August. Say we manage to get up there for the game, what do we do then?

I think that the supporters group up here and the PAFC are organizing a few things for then.
As you said, DK is the man in the know about that sort of thing.

We have had discussions with Bucky on this and have been assured there will be a few activities over the weekend for Port supporters both local and those coming up from interstate to participate in whilst the club is in town.

All we know at this stage is that most of the players and officials will arrive up here on the Friday afternoon and depart on Sunday afternoon.

As soon as we have any other details I'll post them here as well as providing the details in the regular Top End Supporter Group emails for those on our list.

I'm thinking we should start a sticky thread on this board where all Supporter Groups around the country can promote themselves and their activities throughout the year..........

Hi Dreamkillers, what kinda things do PAFC have planned for you when they come up?? Being a member of the WA Supporter Group just curious?

How many members are in the supporters group up there? And what kind of things do the supporter group them self have planned for the match??

We're actually only just starting to make plans as to what will happen on the weekend as the club is still finalising details of trip.

We spoke to Bucky about this at the end of last season and have been advised recently that the club is about to (if not done already) appoint someone at the club to be responsible for looking after Supporter Groups throughout the country.

At this stage we are looking at either a dinner on the Friday night or a bruch on the Sunday at Tracy Village which is the club our group is based at. This event should involve all players and officials from the club that come up for the game.

We are also looking to have the club conduct a training/skills session either at Tracy Village or Marrara (our Footy Park) that will allow all Port supporters up here to meet the players as well as get those essential autographs we all chase after.

More precise details will be sent to people on our email list in a couple of months as well as being posted here, the Power From Port site and the club's website when they come to hand.

The aim is to maximise the exposure of the club and our group during it's time in Darwin to ensure we continue to grow and prosper in the NT. As we keep telling the club there are plenty of Port supporters throughout the NT that are not members of the club and it's that group of people they should be aiming to get on board in the lead up to the match.

As for our group we get together to watch each game out at Tracy Village and depending on who we are playing, the time of the telecast/replay and whether it's on free to air determines how many people turn up. Usually we have between 30-50 people out to specifically watch the games whilst our bigger games have 100+ supporters.

For the last couple of years we've shared hosting Showdown functions with the local Adelaide group where we have had up to 400 people turn up to watch the match.

We also run a twice weekly email during the season that keeps everyone on our list up to date with the news, previews and reviews throughout the year.

As for actual numbers of our group we have just over 60 people who are officially signed up to the group and we have over 100 people on our regular email list. We would like to think with the game up here this year that we can at least double our numbers as well as encouraging these people to become full members of the club.

As I said we'll start up a sticky thread at the top of this board shortly for all Supporter Groups to use and promote themselves and their activities during the year.

Looking forward to the Power-Bulldogs game, I'll be taking my new HSV up for it's first test on the open roads. Taking 2 weeks off work, going to both the Collingwood and Bulldogs game so i might see yas at the game for a beer or two.

At this stage it looks as if I'll be flying down for the Collingwood game the following week in Melbourne as well.
Might have to make that three or four beers. :D

Be going with two other mates of mine. One a Doggie supporter and the other a Hawthorn supporter. Three different games in three days. Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Damn, how sad. :)

lol, have you missed us...

Probably not for DT, but just a coincidence for me. Not on the net as much over Xmas-New Year period due to too many other activities. Also, more of an interest in the cricket in the footy off-season. Don't worry, I will fire up when it counts! Let's hope (or do I??) that Port can do the same come Spetember... ;)

I back but still only on a part time basis. Living out of home at the moment so there's more on my plate than usual, plus this part of the off season is a little boring. Watching plenty of cricket and lots of drinking, leaves me only limited time to check out the latest at BF. I'm sure you guys will survive with out my input for a while, as hard to believe as that is!!
