Hi Dreamkillers, what kinda things do PAFC have planned for you when they come up?? Being a member of the WA Supporter Group just curious?
How many members are in the supporters group up there? And what kind of things do the supporter group them self have planned for the match??
We're actually only just starting to make plans as to what will happen on the weekend as the club is still finalising details of trip.
We spoke to Bucky about this at the end of last season and have been advised recently that the club is about to (if not done already) appoint someone at the club to be responsible for looking after Supporter Groups throughout the country.
At this stage we are looking at either a dinner on the Friday night or a bruch on the Sunday at Tracy Village which is the club our group is based at. This event should involve all players and officials from the club that come up for the game.
We are also looking to have the club conduct a training/skills session either at Tracy Village or Marrara (our Footy Park) that will allow all Port supporters up here to meet the players as well as get those essential autographs we all chase after.
More precise details will be sent to people on our email list in a couple of months as well as being posted here, the Power From Port site and the club's website when they come to hand.
The aim is to maximise the exposure of the club and our group during it's time in Darwin to ensure we continue to grow and prosper in the NT. As we keep telling the club there are plenty of Port supporters throughout the NT that are not members of the club and it's that group of people they should be aiming to get on board in the lead up to the match.
As for our group we get together to watch each game out at Tracy Village and depending on who we are playing, the time of the telecast/replay and whether it's on free to air determines how many people turn up. Usually we have between 30-50 people out to specifically watch the games whilst our bigger games have 100+ supporters.
For the last couple of years we've shared hosting Showdown functions with the local Adelaide group where we have had up to 400 people turn up to watch the match.
We also run a twice weekly email during the season that keeps everyone on our list up to date with the news, previews and reviews throughout the year.
As for actual numbers of our group we have just over 60 people who are officially signed up to the group and we have over 100 people on our regular email list. We would like to think with the game up here this year that we can at least double our numbers as well as encouraging these people to become full members of the club.
As I said we'll start up a sticky thread at the top of this board shortly for all Supporter Groups to use and promote themselves and their activities during the year.
