Yep, I was there too... trying to rope in a couple of Brits to become North supporters whilst my Swans supporting gf at the time tried the opposite.

Looked bad at three quarter time. End result, two new fans.

Was also at the second game you mentioned too, was 2002 from memory. Ended up sleeping on the couch for hurling a tirade of abuse at the Swans when they had their victory lap and I had middle fingers flying everywhere.

I was there for both of those games as well - polar opposite reactions at the final siren. The Archer game felt like we had won a flag - almost my favourite non finals moment. Hugging complete strangers as the small but vocal North support at the SCG roared when Corey Jones slotted that goal.

That Creswell staged free kick - I lost my voice I was so outraged at the injustice. Finally we were about to see a SCG win against the Swans and we were robbed blind. I had been roaring all match and the silent swan fans came from nowhere when Creswell slotted it through to taunt me....

But I always have a soft spot for that thrashing of Collingwood at Vic Park in 1993 - heralding our arrival & signalling their demise. As Mc Adam slotted through another and the outer was a sea of blue and white and the North Melbourne chant was probably heard all the way up to Smith St.

Oh God yeah. Probably the last of our great suburban ground wins.

Was watching a 90s highlights DVD the other day and they showed some of that game. You could see the Collingwood flats in the background, it brought it all back, how you'd walk home through the side streets and nip in for a pot at various boozers.

Good days.

That's my favourite memory of a North game I've been to. 'twas truly sensational to smash the pies on their hallowed turf and to watch their supporters show their true feral colours.

I was also at the game Cresswell staged for at the SCG - I was absolutely putrid about it.

Anzac Day 1991, North v Sydney at the MCG, back when they played real footy.

Sydney kick 9 goals in the first quarter, 10 goals in the second quarter to hold a 5 goal lead at half time.

North kick 14.14 to 2.2, after half time, including an 8.8 to 0.0. last quarter to score a runaway 9 goal win.

Amazing game.

Brother Lidge did a great flash back write up on this match:

.....many of the above

- Wells kicking one from the intersection of the boundary line and 50 metre line, late in the 4th Q against Carlton for the lead (and win). The fact we picked him up with the draft pick that those cheating s**mbags should've had after getting (lightly) punished for salary cap breaches made it oh so sweeter.

- Petrie going nuts against the Bulldogs in the first quarter. That game (for me) was the moment he went from being goofy to understanding his own potential.

- Voss kicking a mongrel from 45 out, from the boundary, half a second before the siren, going through for a point and the draw.

- Carlton dropkicks celebrating AFTER the 99 GF.

.....and many others

Yeah, most of the O.P.'s stuff.:thumbsu:

I was at Arden Street when a very underrated North player from Tassie named Darryl Sutton played half the game at full back and half the game at full forward and still kicked 10 goals.

Can anyone of the resident historians recount the year this happened? Mr R? kangaroo7? I'm guessing the 78 or 79.

Could have been the 1980 game against StKilda. He kicked 9 that day. He never kicked 10 in his whole career.

Going to training at Arden St in the Barassi era- Snake and Blighty turning up for training with their ciggies on the dashboard of their cars.

Barassi making them run laps kicking the ball to themselves, kicking end to end before training using the opposite foot and bouncing with their opposite hand -radical stuff. A bloke by the name of Maurice Boyse was a beautiful kick with either foot - a bit like Leon Cameron.

John Byrne limping around the ground for weeks trying to run out leg soreness- turned out he had a hairline fracture of the leg. Good to see sports medicine has advanced since the 70s.

Tiger Crosswell coming out of retirement just before round 1 about three seasons running and being put through intensive running training (laps of Arden St) until he was ready to join in training and then play- usually about round 8.

Training went from about 5pm till dark. Sometimes Barass would line the players across the ground and each player would kick a footy as Barass showed them how to smother. Some of them would try to kick his hands but he was usually too smart for them.

The drawn final between north and the hawks rates as one off the best ,then to go on and kick there ring in extra time topped it .ps (i think the same thing should be adopted for the home and away season ) and on a different subject Malcom Blights 70 meter torps ,hope one day they come back in the game plan.

Corey Jones banana at the SCG in Archer's 250th. That last quarter was sensational! Think that was the game when McKernan rucked his own ball from the square, sprinted away & goaled in about 15 seconds.

Darryn F****** Cresswell staging for a free kick against Winnie Abrahams in the goalsquare in the last 20 seconds of a game at the SCG. Early 2000s, maybe 03 or 04. That was the first game of footy I took my wife to. She would be a North supporter today if not for that snot nosed tossbag

1996 grand final, in standing room underneath the Great Southern stand.

Once of the most bizarre was seeing Longmire slide through the SCG mud on a filthy wet day. He slid 20m+ (not exaggerating!) right through the centre square.

Edit: Winnie's mark at Manuka! Best mark I have ever seen in person.

Actually, it was one of the Motlop's, i believe Shannon.

Shannon Motlop and he was a bit further out than the goal square and as has been said it was 2002.

That loss cost us 5th spot and a home final against the Eagles.

Can anyone confirm this?

I think DarwinRoo once tore me a third one for suggesting it was in the 99 GF.

And BTW: He didn't sprint, he charged!

I was another who was there. Awesome day, that one. Thanks for jogging that particular memory, sh.

Another top day. Don't remember that much of it unfortunately, courtesy of a healthy pre-game session at the London, followed by Lidge chucking his card over the bar in the VP's. But I was semi-conscious for the First Quarter at least, so it worked out well.

I believe I may have Daveo.

I was there when a bloke we recruited from the west played one of his 1st games and malcolm blight flew for one of his great marks and this recruit came over the top of blighty at full stretch and took the mark on his chest , his name was was ross glendenning will never forget that mark,I dropped my pie !

I was at Waverly when Pickett smashed Krummell & the clown next to me said, "Gee, Krummell was open like a dirty ____."

I was at Waverly when Capuano did his knee for a second time in a pre-season match & the clown next to me screamed, "I'm glad. I'm glad. That's what you deserved for not bulking up over summer. You're too flimsy."

I was at Waverly when Matty Armstrong appeared to do his knee in the first half of a pre-season match but he then came back out after half time & played well.

People can say what they want about Waverly but some of my best footy memories are there. Particularly as Carey destroyed every opponent he played on there.

Seeing Robert Walls absolutely shattered half an hour after the 1976 Preliminary Final which we stole by a point. Mario will attest to the fact that Daryl Sutton starred that day as well.

I'm reliably informed that LtK's grandfather (a great North man) was seen approaching Walls and saying in his finest sarcastic voice "Oh, bad luck Robbie. Maybe next year" or words to that effect.:thumbsu:

More than 30 years later and Wallsy's still hatin'.

It'd be fair to say that the Karma bus has now well and truly caught up with Cresswell.

Fair enough. I do remember that Walls also got cleaned up.

Surely this now raises Snake Baker to god like status?

He was already there for mine.

Yep, totally agree with you on that one. At quarter time of that game, I bet my sister that Drew wouldn't kick more than 8 for the day. She still hasn't paid up.

In addition to the above:

- Early '94 when we smashed the Hawks on a Friday night. Years of frustration unleashed in one game. They didn't know what hit them;
- Flossa's goal in the dying seconds of the '96 GF. Probably my favourite footy memory.

I cant believe nobody has said the 94 final against *injunction*thorn.

My first experience of nearly impreganting my panties.

The sight of Pago screaming kick it (to Carey!) when Kingy was taking all day to line up from about 80 metres out. He was an angry man at times.

My old man was calling for Kingy to go the drop kick. He wasn't joking either.

- Flossa's goal in the dying seconds of the '96 GF. Probably my favourite footy memory.

What a way to go out, his only goal in his last two seasons.

- Petries 6 goals in 20 minutes. That is one moment I'll remember for a long long time. So much cheering in such a short amount of time.

- Swallows goal just before the siren against Melbourne at the G, to win it for us. A few years ago now. Was so excited that as I jumped up, I smashed my leg and had a massive bruise. I was proud, it was my battle wound and a lovely reminder of the day! Shattered when the bruise went.

- Kangaroos V Hawks this year in Launceston. Never EVER have I seen that much rain, hale, thunder and lightening.

I'm trying to cast my mind back to previous years... I'll add more when I switch my brain on.

Being of the older vintage I was there when

Elephant incident
Hot Dog stand blowing up
The day Barassi and Sheedy nearly came to blows
Could have been the same day that we beat Essendon kicking into the wind with 17 men
The day we kicked 29 goals against Carlton at Arden St.

To many moments to list.

Other non Norht Melbourne moments
The day Lethal broke the point post
The windy hill brawl when Mal Brown went off his head

Carey had Jackovich dragged at Subi Oval
Wells kicked the "kung fu" goal in the square against the Dorkers.
