What other grounds would have been suitable? Couldn't play all on the hallowed turf of the craypot.
There's several options (Leederville, Joondalup for example). The AFL weren't interested in anything that was a little bit complicated like Quarantine. Ironically that is what ultimately made it complicated.

The thing is....I actually think Caro is a good journalist who gets a fair bit right and has some reasonable insights into the actual workings of clubs, and decisions made by clubs boards. But bloody hell if she doesn't swing so far the other way at times and dash that goodwill to pieces with some unprincipled, emotive nonsense that too often reeks of a professional life lived too closely to AFL house.
Good points. I'm not sure if it was Caro or not (I think it was) but the bit about the AFL being upset with McGowan's comments about the Swans quarantine hub debacle was the funniest piece of "journalism" to date. McGowan gave them a a bit of a whack (not much of one) but the fact that they tried to turn it as if McGowan was in the wrong was hilarious.

Those grounds might be good for pre season games but are no where near afl standard for regular season games

WA will most likely lose the GF for no other reason than GF represents unwanted risk to a premier cruising to election victory in Feb 2022. Is why McGowan has acted like a general trying desperately to lose a war despite having overwhelming firepower, the best officers, geograhic location and soldiers.
Give it a rest FFS.

McGowan has acted like a general trying desperately to lose a war despite having overwhelming firepower, the best officers, geograhic location and soldiers. He is a premier riding high and a GF represents risk before a Feb 2021 election.
Plus there's rumours he's telling ASADA to delay Rioli's case so that Willie won't need to enter WA any time soon.

Worsfold inherited Judd and Sampi (and to a lesser extent Hansen) in the 01 draft, and Kerr from 00, as well as Glass and Hunter from 99 (Dean Cox came that year too but wasn't effective for a few more years). What didn't help Judge was the cavalcade of injured and has-been players (Merenda, Prior, Seirakowski, Taylor etc) he brought in through trades to try and top up the young talent that was coming on to the list.
Dont forget Greg Harding

This quote gets funnier and funnier

And for the record I quite like McGowan

I stand by it. Just very pissed off he's screwing us out of a GF. ALL the state premiers have different approaches to Covid aligned to their own political interests. No coherent national strategy. McGowan has done well but he's a political animal and has cooked this one.

“The West Coast” from Mal Walden plus a mention of Collingwood even though they weren’t in it that year

That was actually really good coverage. How was Embley? Seemed absolutely exhausted. Was interviewed by Kelli Underwood too, didn't realise she had been at it for so long.

Thay Asian reporter at the end was shocking, she was actually reading off a card at one point.

Posted without further comment...

What makes my blood boil is when they show footage of Lynch copping a punch to the guts from Collins (second half of the clip). He then gets into a scuffle with a gold coast player, pushes him in the chest and it slips high and brushes his neck and chin. Isn't that the exact same shit that got Gov a week in rnd 2?

This & I believe read online article saying we hadn’t/weren’t permitting Ch7 TV cameramen etc into WA. Not essential.

I doubt that very much given every game in WA has been broadcast. Also they wouldn't need to fly camos, networks have enough in each state that they use.

Anyway, as this is the media thread let's get it back on track with a shameless plug.

Don't you hate former players/opposition club presidents/Victorian TV personalities commentating Eagles games and having no clue about the players, the club, the rules or a general sense of impartiality? Why not listen to a very openly biased call focusing on the Eagles from some or your favourite* Eagles board posters!

The Eagles board podcast crew is weighing up the possibility of doing a live call of one or more of the QLD hub games, potentially starting with Richmond next week. The commentary would be streamed live, free on your computer/phone, and would just be a very Eagles focused call of the games while you watch it synced up at home.

**** BT. **** Basil. **** Bruce. **** Eddie. **** Dwayne Russell. Get around the BigFooty Eagles crew. We're trying to gauge interest across the board for a live call, so if that sort of thing sounds like something you'd tune in to, like this post or let me know your thoughts :thumbsu:
