I unfortunately caught some of Footy Classified whilst doing the dishes last night, and I couldn't belive the amazing story Caro and Hutchy had concocted for themselves.

I could be wrong but wasn't she the one harping on about how ANZ stadium should host ( When games were being playing NSW) the GF because it can fit more supporters?

Luckily it is a small minority in the media that think it shouldn't be in WA because they can at least see the merit in playing in a footy mad state that would be an actual spectacle to watch on GF day.

IF the Gabba wins it there will be a big on their face if come GF day and the Lions are not not in the GF and it is half full. Im not convinced there will be massive growth towards to the game there was Covid is finished.

I was kinda glad they cut over to Kornes. The $narrative$ that the WA govt was somehow screwing the AFL at every opportunity whilst the Qld govt bent over backwards was getting a bit much.

Yeah it’s another classic case of the AFL taking the WA and SA support for granted and not giving back even when there’s a huge opportunity. “Look, we’re going to get full stadiums in those states until the end of time so let’s cheat a little and try to use this to our advantage in QLD”.

Sure QLD have possibly helped out a little more this year but we’re a little more worried about keeping people alive. How about the last 30 years where West Aussies have voted with their feet almost every week and propped up the AFL without so much as a thankyou.

It should be us first and foremost because of the safety of the state, Optus being the next best stadium in the country and the potential for 60k crowds. If our restrictions don’t allow for the above then it should fall to SA, that should be the end of discussion imo. (Although.. do SA actually want it? I’m sure I read somewhere that they pulled out?)

Little to no chance of getting full capacity crowds at Optus or in SA.

If Port finish on top, they will get 2 home finals with the GF probably being at the Gabba.

We'd have to re-enter quarantine, which we've said we are willing to do.

To be fair to Marc McGowan, he repeatedly offered to host a hub as long as quarantine was met. The AFL actually could have moved 5-6 teams to Perth and given what actually played out in Vic it could have been achieved.
In fact what I would have looked at doing would be to have the MCG tenants play 'home' at our MCG replica ground.

Morally wrong is the AFL participating in a backroom deal with a club president and a dodgy funding proposal (with zero oversight), morally wrong is AFL accredited journalists who consistently lie and scandalise everything, who have been bereft of a moral compass for so long that it's made sports journalism the least trusted area of multimedia journalism in the nation.

Getting frustrated when the health and well-being of 2.6 million people rests on your shoulders because of a breach in quarantine, that the AFL and an AFL club assured was practically impossible, is apparently morally wrong? wowee

There is only one reason these journalists are hard, hard pushing for Queensland to host the GF. The Age, The Hun, Croc and channel 9 already have a heap of reporters up there, but WA is channel 7 heavy and they know 7 will dominate everything, to their detriment (that's not a good thing, but it's still a thing..). They're all talking about "head vs heart" when they themselves know their backing is purely financial (for them). Some of them are such scoundrels

The thing is....I actually think Caro is a good journalist who gets a fair bit right and has some reasonable insights into the actual workings of clubs, and decisions made by clubs boards. But bloody hell if she doesn't swing so far the other way at times and dash that goodwill to pieces with some unprincipled, emotive nonsense that too often reeks of a professional life lived too closely to AFL house.
