Not sure wtf point this Herald Sun article is trying to make. Vic teams won't get a home ground advantage if they finish 5th and 6th, so we should just abandon the existing finals format entirely??

How is the ground any less neutral for the Saints than it is for us in that scenario? Baffling

Also, in that scenario isn’t it pretty likely that we’re playing Port at Adelaide Oval or Brisbane at the Gabba?

That's an utterly baffling attempt at logic.

I think the point, albeit terribly made, is that the current finals system is heavily based around home ground advantage. If all finals are neutral its an unfair system.

And it's most likely the Vic's that'll get screwed because of it.

Which makes their decision to take home finals off us in the late 90s under the same system even more egregious.

Tell the Vics to shut their whiny b*tch mouth. The Eagles got pineappled during the 90's wrt having to play home finals in Melbourne. Flip the Vics the finger and tell them to kick rocks. If the Eagles had to endure it, so can they... all for the good of the game of course.

Remember Brisbane playing a home prelim at The Gabba in 2004? Oh wait..

**** them. Was genuinely thinking COVID would kill some Victorian clubs and condense the league for the good of the game.

If only there were some way to determine which teams get which advantages. You could for example have all the clubs play a big tournament over a predetermined period of time, wherein the results of that tournament dictate which clubs get what. If clubs are tied, maybe as a tiebreaker you could work out the ratio of points scored to conceded and use that to split teams. From there you would be able to tell who had earned what, and play finals accordingly.

Unfortunately, since such a system doesn’t exist to my knowledge, we’ll just never know if that might work.

Also a big fan of this concept that “they had the same wins and could only be separated by percentage” is somehow an issue?

Like...ok? So? The Eagles were “only” percentage behind Collingwood last year, we had the same number of wins, can we have our double chance and a qualifying final back please?

Percentage exists for this very situation, nuffs.

Anyone able to decipher what he's on about here?

Bulldogs and Bombers are in Royal Pines.

West Coast want to go back to RP as it has the best facilities. The club is trying to get WB and Essendon kicked out to make room for us.

West Coast: We want to go back to RP

AFL: But the bombers and bulldogs are there

West Coast: LOL. They aren't even gonna make finals though

Western Bulldogs: Hold my beer

West Coast:

Western Bulldogs: :moustache:

AFL: LOL

Am just watching the replay - before the second quarter bouncedown Derm starts talking us up Tryna start a convo saying "these guys are seriously good, if they were playing a round-robin for the Grand final this weekend I know who my money would be on.."
There is then an awkward silence and then Eddie chimes in with a topic change - you can hear the disdain in his voice hahahah
