Can people stop focussing on the height thing?
Clearly height is relative to the average of the era.
Matthew Richardson.
Magnificent mark, super athletic, good height, tough and would suit todays game beautifully.
Especially with my club.

Richo is very much under rated
his stats are similar to carey.
Was extremely good as a mid later in his career. Imagine if he played as a midfielder his entire career.

Imagine how much better he even could have been if he never did his ACLWas a star. Freak athlete. The way he came back and kicked 90+ goals after his ACL, at a young age, is VERY underrated.
Throw Modra into that argument as well, did two knees.Imagine how much better he even could have been if he never did his ACL
Well let’s put it this way, you get Gary Ablett snr then you get Garry Ablett jnr father son….. this thread is done.
Same as David Schwarz.Imagine how much better he even could have been if he never did his ACL
Probably worse for Schwarz because didn't he do 3 in 3 years?Same as David Schwarz.

Well it matters because we can't just say "well lets pretend Gary Ablett Snr is 195cm"
The assumption would be you are drafting an 18 year old 185cm Gary Ablett Snr.
The difference is that you're drafting Lockett as an 18 year old... with modern day training and nutrition, he's going to be better than he was. And he's infinitely a better kick than Franklin. I would take Lockett over him in a heartbeat.I 100% agree with you here height and size matter. I’m only picking GAS cause we need a Riewoldt replacement to play a CHF role. 185cm is really short for a full forward.
If I’m picking a FF it’s Buddy then daylight. Buddy is great in any era you put him in because of the athlete that he is. Not sure you’d get great output from Lockett & Dunstal in todays game as they just sat in the goal square all day.

So where would you play Polly farmer?? Not as a ruckPolly >>> 2 x Madderns.
Forget relative heights, look at how they dominated their era.
No one here has seen him live, but Haydyn Bunton Snr seems to be a player that would make Ablett Snr, quiver in his boots.
