if you’re that desperate just turn Naughton into a defender
Dale is an elite kick under pressure and he has the proven ability to be versatile if we need him forward.
Versatility is one of the most important requirements of nearly all our list by our coaching staff at the moment.

I’m sure Bont could play hb just as well and everywhere else better

Yeah okay, I was thinking about our future 2025 onwards... and for some stupid reason I had it in my head that Bont was 3 years older than Dale but really he's only 18 months. So I'll think about it.

But also... would he really be that good defensively? I just don't recall when he's had to play that kind of role, so maybe I'm totally wrong here.

Dale isn’t a lockdown player either though. Statistically I imagine he is really poor.

Anchors need sausage rolls and player needs to be 25 and under as I feel 2023-27 will be when it all clicks!

Adelaide: tilthorpe
Brisbane: Cameron (over 25 but feel he will be effective into his 30s)
Carlton: McKay
Collingwood: Daicos (as a ft fwd)
Gold Coast: B King
Melbourne : Petracca ( roaming fwd)
North: JHF ( play fwd)
Port:rozee(George not far behind)
Richmond: Bolton
Gws: green
Saints: king
Dogs: naughton
Cats: Cameron(still has 4-5 good years)
Swans: papley
No one jumps out at me from the teams not mentioned.
Of course there’s players I’d take just age or hope in current anchors with similar attributes has stopped me.

Mate.

Ben Brown is an elite, plant-powered machine. In 2020 he was regularly tracking more km's per game than Ed Langdon was (I don't know the stats for 2021 but I imagine it's similar). He's 30, but that's not old when you're living off tofu and beans. Look at Tom "Steak and three side-serves of steak" MacDonald- we had to carry him through the finals series and he's younger than Brown is. There's plenty of seasons of quality football left from Big Benny, plenty.

As for that Western player: fu** that. IMO they just seem a little too soft down Footscray way? Go down a little easily. Give up when it gets just a bit too hard. Drop their heads, and hope the umpires give them a hand. Maybe our elite culture could get him on track, but why take the risk?

IMO the only forward we could use from anywhere else is Jesse Hogan. King of the House Party. Already a Demons legend (to me anyway). Bring the boy back home!!!
All of a sudden Melbourne have an elite culture :D yeah the coach is good with instilling that ;)

His struggles against Melbourne I'd suggest are probably entirely to do with one S May. Just about the only defender who has the size, strength and explosive power to either hold him off or launch in to contests as well as Naughton does.

The stat that Naughton only kicked his 2nd goal all year from general play in the grand final is intriguing though. Shows how dominant he is in the air but how much room for improvement their is in his forward craft. If he starts getting on the end of a few more easy pieces of play he'll go from being difficult to handle as his is currently to close to unstoppable.
That will happen when more defenders try to stop JUH

Max Gawn, we are desperate for a dominate ruck we haven’t had since Krueger could play more than 15 games in a season..
