5: Hamish Hartlett. After seeing Hurley's sprint time I'm hopefull that we'll pick up a quality midfielder. Hartlett seems to be the best choice so I want him. :)
Other Options: Sidebottom, Hurley or Ziebell in that order.

23: Best available Key Back. Ive heard good things about either Jordan Lisle or Trengrove should he slide.

55: Best available either midfider or ruckman though I wouldn't mind taking a rookie ruckman.

PS Draft 5: ROK or Cuz.

Might look at a mature age recruit here

Pick#5
Steele Sidebottom – 182cm, 79kg – Murray Bushrangers
Natural smooth moving midfielder with excellent skills on both sides of the body. Very smart player who reads the play well and has a good understanding of the clearances. Runs to the right spots and provides good options. Uses the ball well by hand and by foot. The only real downside he has is he is only steady in the pace department. Has enough speed to get himself out of tight situations but is not going to burst out of a pack or through the middle of the ground. Has been used in a variety of roles including half back, half forward and midfield. Very composed under pressure and chooses the right options . Although he is not what you would call a genuine hard nut and likes to play more of a play maker role he has no fear in putting his head over the ball when he has to. Played a great finals game against Rangers where his efforts in the second quarter put his side back on top. Backed that up the following week with a strong game against Oakleigh before putting on the Rusty show ( and what a show it was ) in the TAC Final.
Other options Hamish Harteltt , Jack Ziebell , Steven Hill
Reason I still think we need to take a class midfielder early. Picking up Prismall is an upgrade on a midfielder we would have taken mid draft and i think there are a few talls to work with later on. I have gone away from Hurley here simply becasue IMO his DC results rule him out of being in the best 8 players.

Pick#23
Jayden Post – 195cm, 86kg – Western Jets.
Tall KP player who has played three seasons at TAC Cup level. Has had varying roles over the period from playing key defence to forward and also in the ruck. If anything I think that the key defensive role suits him best. He reads the ball in flight well and takes a very good contested mark. Pace is ok for a tall and he will back himself to run from half back. His skills are pretty good and he is a reliable right foot kick. The knock on him is his consistency as he has had games where he simply could not have found the ball if it had a bell on it. Can kick goals when used as a forward. His ruck work is ok but he will be too short for rucking duties at AFL level. Played a ripper finals game against the Rays and tested well at state screening so he will have impressed with his finish to the year.
Other options Jodan Lisle (if available) Trengove (if avaialable) Tom Lynch, Zack Sengstock.
Reason Gone out on a limb here and have gone for a player who will probaly be third round. The reason behind it is i suspect that Lisle or Trengove will be gone before pick 23. If Trengove is available here then he would be my pick but i do not thin he will be. Going all out tall here having picked up a midfielder first to add to Prismalls arrival.

Pick#55
Steve Gaertner – 198cm, 88kg -Dandenong Stingrays
His lack of consistency, average foot skills and a slight lack of footy nous cost him at last years draft but it has been good to see that Steve has gone away and worked on a few areas that have seen his game improve a lot. He has spent more time at half back this year and he does look comfortable in that position. He likes to rebound and carry the ball through the middle and his game sense has really improved a lot this year.
His problem area is still his kicking. Although he is not a really bad kick he can be prone to just throwing the ball onto the boot and trying to unload which leads to mixed results. His defensive efforts at half back have been very good. For a big bloke his pace is pretty good and he can take a strong contested mark.
Other options Tom Hill (if available) Andrew Hunter , Riley Milne (if avialable) Jordan Jones.
Reason Once again going tall here. Slightly though choice here. My first choice would be Hill but i think he will be gone so i have gone with Gaertner who is tall, quick and can play defence well.

Pick#71 Pass.

PSD Pick#5
Ryan Okeefe
Not a fan of the asking price but if you have the space in the cap and you can do the deal then you simply should do it becasue chances are good that Okeefe in 4 years will give you more than what pick 71 will do in 10 years.

Rookie#1
Matt Thomson – 175kcm, 65kg – Queensland / Redlands.
Small rover who found a heap of the ball for Queensland during their champ and TAC Cup games. Pretty good user of the ball on both sides of the body. His clearance work is very good and his handball in close is very good. Gets in and under but is a smart player and he runs to areas where he can receive the ball as well. His pace is only average. For a kid his size he tackles really well. Will do the one percenters. He leads his side on the field.
The fact that he is rather small and not super quick counts against him being drafted but he is a natural player who someone should take a chance with late in the draft.

Rookie#2
Levi Casboult -196cm, 95kg –Dandenong Stingrays.
Ruckman who is not overly tall but uses his leap well and wins a lot of hit outs. Gets around the ground ok but never gets really big numbers. Pace is good and skills are pretty good for a tall. Can take a good contested mark.
Probably going to be too short to be drafted as a ruckman but his mobility and great leap would possibly be used to make a strong defender. reads the game pretty well which is a good start.

Rookie#3
Matt Suckling – 183cm, 84kg – Sandringham Dragons.
He has had a pretty good year this year for Sandy as an overage player. Has come back well after missing a lot of footy last year and has been consistently in Sandringham’s best players. Strong bodied midfielder with reasonable pace. Reads the game well and his skills are generally pretty good. Generally finds a lot of the ball and uses it pretty well.

Rookie#4
Matt Cunningham – 188cm, 78kg –Eastern Rangers.
Hard running defender who is playing his third year of TAC Cup footy. Has a fantastic work rate and is prepared to run off his man to get involved. His defensive side is very good and he does the disciplined things all the time. Has reasonable pace. In the past his kicking had been a real problem for him but this year he has improved a lot in that area.Has had stints in the midfield but is more of a medium sized defender. Gives 100% all the time.

Rookie#5
Brodie A’Vard – 197cm, 90kg – NSW/ACT Rams / Murray Bushrangers.
Tall KP prospect who spent time at both ends of the ground for NSW during the champs. Does not win a huge amount of the ball. Defence was reasonable during the champs. Has played mainly as a forward /ruckman for the Bushies. Skills are reasonable although his kicking has been suspect in some games.

Based on my limited knowledge.

Pick 5: Sidebottom
Reserves: Hurley, Hartlett, Trengove

Pick 23: Lisle
Reserves: next best available defender, Swift

Pick 55: Midfielder

PSD 5: ROK

Pick 71: Project ruckman

I love the idea of rookie selections as being a part of this thread. Each club are allowed 8 rookies this year. Ant555 are we keeping 5 rookies from this year? That cant be right can it?
I am doing Essendons Big Footy Phantom so I will make a list of five for each.

Pick 5 Michael Hurley, Jackson Trengove, Shaun McKernan, Chris Yarran, Steele Sidebottom

Pick 23 Michael Walters, Dan Hanneberry, Matthew Broadbent, James Stauss,
Neville Jetta

Pick 55 Zac Clarke, Brad Mangan, Liam Shiels, Tom Hill, Johnny Rayner, Jake Walsh

Rookies (who I think may miss out on being drafted)

Tom German, Patrick Hayes, Rhys Healey, Ben Power, Bart McCulloch, Charlie Sharples, James Klause, Daniel Murray, James Wall

Was working off last years rules. Are you sure that it is 8 rookies this year. I thought it was next year when GC get to start picking players.

It is this year, we'll have two vets though.

So we'll have six rookies.

Well there are going to be some interesting choices for rookies spots. I was struggling a bit to find three that may be there from the TAC Cup.
Had better find a couple more now.
