Or even better that the "little buggers" team folded, hey Nic.

Disown them or put the little tykes up for adoption sound like a good idea, but seriously apart from drumming my team into them there would be little I could do to make them follow my team. Like RF1 said, there would be a bit of tention when the 2 sides clashed!

i'd kick them out of the house... lol!
thank god i have no children (too young).
i just dont think i will have that problem coz he/she/it will be trained (prefer it than the word brainwashed even though thats what it is) to love the dees (i'll play him/her the theme song again and again even during my pregnancy). my child will sleep in a melbourne jumper and drink from a melbourne bottle and will play in a red and blue room... god what a stuffed up child! lol
u have to see dees*gal brother.. only 4 and already brainwashed... like any good kid should be!

I much prefer my children to have open minds. I like that they think for themselves.
Its what we want them to be able to do in life, be independent of thought.
My kids both barrack for other AFL teams to mine. Their choice.I take them to the footy, why wouldn't I.They love footy, so what I have to watch another team play, I enjoy watching my child enthusiasm and love for their team.

My girlfriend went home one day and told her parents that she was going to barrack for Essendon and that they should get her the appropriate gear for her birthday. Her parents, being fanatical Cat fans, bought her Geelong gear instead, and that's been her allegience ever since.

Anyway, we made a deal that if we got married and had kids, the first would barrack for North Melbourne, but would be encouraged to follow my partners rather political beliefs. Oh, and if it's a boy, it'll be called Carey Michael Martyn Shinboners and if it's a girl, Michaela Martine Carey Shinboners

Besides, you want to do the best for your kids and if I brought them up to be Geelong fans, that would be condemning them to a lifetime of heartbreak, wouldn't it?

p.s. Of course, if the kid deviated from the true faith, it's off to the orphanage.

I am not old enough to have my own kids but I will say that both My Dad and I are Eagles supporters. The main difference is he also follows the Dockers so when the Dockers beat the Eagles he is just as happy as vice-versa. If we lived in Perth he would be a memeber of both. I could never be a docker member and one day will be an Eagle member. I am glad we both go for the Eagles though.

My Girlfriend and I have a five year daughter and another child due in April. As we both support North Melbourne and Parramatta, we bought her the jumpers from each team and took her to Sydney one weekend to watch a AFL and NRL game. We then did what my father did to me when I was a youngster. I Told her if she didn't support these teams she would kicked out of the house and forced to fend for herself.

It worked.

When or if I decide to have children, there would be no possibility of them supporting anyone else but Carlton. They will be become fifth generation Blues fans. My parents are Carlton supporters, my brothers are Carlton supporters, my eight year old nephew is a Carlton supporter, my grandparents are Carlton supporters, my aunties, uncles and cousins are Carlton supporters and my great grandparents were also Carlton supporters.
So what are the chances that any children would follow another team?

Of course as they grew up I would encourage them to be independent. They could choose their own career path, change their religion if they wanted, they could even choose their own political beliefs although if they started to swing too far right I might have to re-educate them in that field!

But they would be Carlton supporters right from the start and they would never sway from that. Or else they may run the risk of being disinherited!

Devo,

You wouldn't be that bloke that was obsessed with the Parramata Eels last night on "A Current Affair", would you?
